No wait, I CHALLENGE ANYONE To tell me a mission that doesn't revolve around the following criteria:

Drive to location > Kill people > Get item/vehicle > Drive/Fly to location.

I would have thought that the amount of time and resources that R* had to work with, we could have seen much more creative and unique ideas regarding the so called "jobs" instead of the same cut and paste bullsh*t over and over again.

But isn't that how it's supposed to work?

Don't get me wrong, I don't kill people for a living, but everyday, except weekends, I drive to a location(work), get sh*t done, drive to a location(home)..

I think they got it pretty spot on..

So what type of mission would you like to see. its GTA. I don't see the point in a mission that has no drugs, guns, or vehicle theft.

You want one where you don't kill people? Or steal a car?

Try Disney games?

Name one job in any GTA that doesn't involve one of those criteria.

I assume that OP wants some difference to the Missions. After all, they're all kind of similar to each other... although, I don't have any idea of how or what different things could you do as Missions (with drugs, guns and vehicle theft).

Probably missions from Single Player? Like the FIB Heist-thingy? Oh wait... that's Heists...

Unfortunately so. I mean when it comes to a multiplayer online game the content is going to be somewhat generic. For starters missions can't really have any dialogue since theres no one to have any with. A lot of missions in the single player weren't too much different but the difference was that there was context and narrative. When you went to go kill a group of guys, it usually had something to do with the story or progressed it. If you cut out the cutscenes and the story, the single player isn't too much different. No one wants do missions in online where you just drive around.

I mean what other missions could you really have? You can't have four players chasing a yacht on the highway. Even then that really isn't all that different from say a mission where you need to go collect a guy in a prison bus, which also btw doesn't technically involve killing anyone so that shoots down your little rant.

You have to realize that these jobs are just a small part of what GTA Online is going to be. From the look of things we are going to have gambling, drug dealing, investing in properties and who knows what else. This will add some more variation to the game, so be patient onlines been live for only around two months.

They can do better though, because when you break it down that's all GTA really consist of besides side activities. They can certainly do a better job with set locations though like jacking a military convoy, or stealing a boat. We will get more jobs over time so I'm sure we will see some more variations, plus when Heist come out things won't feel so stale.

Actually there IS a mission where you're escorting a helicopter from LS Airport to an Airstrip in Blaine County.  Martin gives you the mission.

I have to agree... they are all variations on the same idea.

And yes, in reply to another poster, I would have liked some missions that didn't involve killing people / guns blazing.

Although having said that, I'm now struggling to think of some good examples of alternative missions

but thats what a criminal do

perhaps raping should be included lol

but R* gives u prostitutes

hmmm

still early as some mention, only two months

take a step back and wait for future DLC

what else to do if u aint into killing anyway

I've got many missions like that...for example...Chemical Extraction!

1. Start mission.
2. Call Pegasus hire dump truck (my personal favorite), bus variants, etc. While someone gets a cargobob.
3. Somone steal SUV truck etc. To let everyone jump up onto dump truck or the simpler load everyone in the bus or whatever you picked.
4. Now this bit is tricky, one person does have to drive to location, everyone else sit there and laugh at the ongoing antics.
5. This bit gets boring, shoot NPC's.
6. Collect whatever it was you need to collect (inthis case the van, sorry can't avoid that bit)
7. Find most inventive way to take said item back. (For example get cargobob, lift van onto back of dump truck, have everyone jump back on top, someone hop in van so as not to destroy it. Return the van and if needs be lift van off of dumptruck onto the ground using said cargobob.
8. Mission PASSED, everybody cracks up at how much fun it was to go to that extent to finish the mission!

Try this and other methods on all your missions and you'll have a blast!

Edit: I would say I just bout completed your challenge by at least 90%.

Rockstar is just making sure the jobs are good so they won't just crash everything when players start playing them.

Heist too so there won't be any exploit or stuff or whatever tralalala etvetera..

With a bit of creativity they could come up with no end of missions that don't fit the OP's profile.

Here's a few I came up with in little more than the time it took to read this post:

"Tarnished Rep" or "Stained Badges"

Lester wants to smear the LSPD. He tasks you with obtaining a cop uniform and car, and impersonating a police officer. You have to pull over X number of citizens on the streets or highways and either a.) solicit bribes from them or b.) dish out a little police brutality for minor offences or c.) plant evidence on them. Extra points if there are witnesses to all your dastardly deeds.

"Bitch Set Me Up!"

Martin wants to frame a local politician or city official. You have to enlist the help of a prostitute, whether by payment or physical coercion is up to you. Once she's engaged with the official you must obtain photographic evidence (or to make it more interesting you'd be required to install camera/audio surveillance ahead of time, etc.), then get it to Weazel news before the official's security/bodyguards becomes aware or catches you.

"Placebo Effect"

Gerald (or perhaps Trevor/Ron) is worried about the city's Methadone program cutting into his profits. He sends you to break into several of their clinics and replace the methadone with a placebo. The more you manage to get done within the time limit, say one game night, the better your reward.

"Lemon Laws"

Simeon wants to discredit a rival dealership. He sends you out to tamper with the cars on their lot. Stealth is emphasized as security is tight, and getting caught isn't an option. Creep through the lot as quietly as possible, loosening lug nuts, tampering with electrical wiring, etc., then get out unseen.

"Corrupted Data"

Lamar needs help clearing his criminal record from the LSPD database. Hack in from your computer or, alternatively, attempt to break into an LSPD  branch and wipe it out for him.

Most of these would be able to be accomplished without firing a shot, and for some it would be a requirement to do so. Ultimately I guess you could argue that anything you do mission-wise is going to revolve around traveling from point A to point B, stealing/killing/altering/selling/using/moving/etc. something, then traveling from point B back to A or to C or X or whatever. Point being, what we have now by and large fits OPs profile, where with just a tiny bit of thought they could both keep us interested and give us multiple means to get the desired outcome.

They could have done so much better...I mean come on just in the time I have read this I have come up with a few better ideas. How bout a kidnapping mission where you have to take a rival drug dealer and kidnap him and smuggle him out on a boat. Or what about a mission that involves sneaking into the police station...maybe having to stealth kill an officer on patrol and snag a uni then go into the station and steal a file. After the file is picked up the alarm goes off and you have to make it to the safe house with 4 stars.

I mean damn is it that hard to be a little more creative and vary the damn basic ideas a bit more.

Nice ideas jokimoto that's what I mean though. If we can come up with that in a few quick moments what the hell was going on at R* with all the time they had (about 5-7 years of development on GTA V) and money paid to people that makes them so bad at this.

here's another mission that the OP would like:

Prank The Police

Lester asks you to call the 5-0 on your ifruit phone, before they arrive, RUN! as fast as you can and leave the popo wondering why are they summoned.
