You know i thought i read that jerk off tip in one of your awesome GTAO guides that are pinned in the Strategy forum.

No shooting load location services not requested.lol. What i meant was, if you are using free aim and punching the clown during the DM, then Rockstar needs to give you a job.

Every time when someone gets close to me in the game I start to panic a bit. My heart starts beating and it's just pure anxiety. Also get the feeling that my heart sank into my stomach. I'm kinda worried to why this is happening to me in a videogame. I play a bunch of games. Even survival horrors but they don't make me feel anxious. This game, on the other hand, does.

*Anxiety/fear of dying in this game because I am feel very helpless.

EDIT: has nothing to do with socializing like some people are thinking.

I probably should be asking this in a Medical site but I want to see if others are like me on here that get very panicky with this game in general.

Ha ha, Only happens when I turn my mic on and am chatting with other players.

I sweat profusely and become jittery and nervous..

Maybe that's the social anxiety part of it?

As for you?

I just get Pissed off when people kill me for no reason.

I'm a peaceful guy.

Unwarranted violence just pisses me off!

To O.P.: nexoric

It sounds like you might have a condition worth consulting your doctor about, do your family have any history of high blood-pressure or anything like that?

I get a raised heat-rate when playing against other people (not NPCs) I think it is quite normal - this is just the body releasing adrenalin in a 'fight or flight' situation.

You might also get the shakes in your hands due to this, it is the body's reaction to a perceived 'threat'.

However, if you are having 'anxiety attacks' when playing, I would seriously consider stopping playing 'free-roam', death-matches, perhaps even races immediately to see if this helps.

If you are playing alone without friends/crew - this probably would be less fun, but more sensible than continuing to put your body under unnecessary stress.

Playing the game with friends/crew is more fun and less stressful than solo PvP in free-roam.

It is possible to play without interacting with other players and still have loads of fun, give it a go if you still want to play the game.

But maybe you should go and see a doctor and have some blood-pressure tests anyway.

You might have some underlying health condition you are not aware of...

Join a crew for invite only sessions, they are trust worthy and fun compared to invite only on your own.

The anxiety comes from the emotional part of the brain, or the animal part.

You need to use the human part of your brain to calm down your animal and rationalise the information.

Breathing in and out deeply through nose should help for at least 10 secs.

this sounds like a major problem tbh... your mind state isn't going to be reacting how it should to be effective if your getting anxiety... i suggest u play a diff game or get some xanax or klonopins...

Depending on what is happening I can get the same way, but it usually only happens if I play when I'm drinking my coffee in the morning.  That may have something to do with it for me.

I'll usually have a few beers on the nights I play and I seem more relaxed then.  For me it will happen during races when someone jams me into a corner at the start and I make it to first with the 2nd place right behind me.

It probably means you enjoy the game a lot and you really get into it.

Probably just because you know it's 'real' players and not AIs.

I felt very weird the first time I interacted with someone in GTA:O (he punched me to death cos I bumped into him as he was coming out of a shop)

Thing is, it was like an initiation and I was okay after that.

As I say, I think it's just because you're interacting with live players.

interesting topic.

our brain doesnt care if its a videogame or RL or a book or a movie.  we can feel the same, absolutely the same way, no matter if we know its real or not.

and just like in real life, getting used to the situation makes it better.

maybe it helps if u just try to get shot on purpose. say to yourself: " i am going to get killed 30 times, thats my goal". u will notice how u start to not care, and all the stress will fade.

Rub one out, smoke a bowl and go into passive mode and stand on a ledge should do it.

why would you not smoke the bowl before you rub one out?

Sometimes it helps to be creative when killing other players. If you like to be chased, why not lure them into a trap of your own design?

For example, I was getting killed by another player near Eclipse Towers. He was 2 kills to my 1. When I managed to shoot him, I had a wanted level and regrouped at the small house across the street.

As I waited for the guy to respawn, I saw three parked car that were good for cover. I planted a sticky bomb on the middle one and hid at the corner hedge/wall. The cops were bearing down on me and I saw this guy heading towards me from the other end of the street. I waited until he was in line with the cars and then...BOOM! :D

I slowed the fight down; using my own rules and their trigger happy stupidity against them. :)
