Yeah I like LC a little better. For me I feel like if I leave LS there's nothing but deserts, unlike SA where there were other cities. Personally I like the city feel, and for some reason the new LS didn't do it for me.

Weird enough, I didn't like GTA 3's LC over SA's LS.

When I first started V I thought, wow, this environment is so much better - looks great, is larger, more detail to things... but now it's starting to feel like it's an online environment and they slapped some single-player stuff on it. It's pretty and shiny, but with Liberty City I felt more "there".

A few weeks before V came out I started playing IV again because I felt a sense of "I've been away too long, time to hit the streets". I just don't see myself getting that level of attachment to V.

I like both but LS shades it. There's also still scope for more accessible features (casino racetrack etc)

I don't miss Liberty City, because if I did, I could just load up GTA IV.  Or watch Meltdown.

i liked the middle island in liberty one i found the scale of the map smaller but bigger as it took awhile to get to certain places. but everything looked so sad and boring there. so its nice to be in los santos where ever corner is a surprise.

although parts of los santos feel lazy. in the pier area its basically the same as a bit on midnight club la. also the thing that's outside the opening to the airport. is based off a thing at la airport(i think la).

I miss it to and I'm going to play IV. Los Santos is nicely detailed and done but... it just feels superficial. More mansions than run down neighborhoods? Just doesn't feel right. Los Angeles is rich but it has a lot of poor neighborhoods as well. The amount of high end cars over low end cars did not help also. And I don't know, Liberty City was funnier. Humor just isn't as great in Los Santos. The peds are so annoying that if you even rev you're car, they'll get mad or some how scared. :dontgetit: Both cities have great detail but Liberty City is just... better in my honest opinion.

LS ... The more you play. The bigger and better it gets.

Bigger mountains, new houses, buildings, streets, roads, rivers, wildlife, people, cars, etc, etc, etc... It's endless.

Liberty City felt DULL even though it was jam packed (maybe thats why it seemed that way) but it doesn't even come close to the EPIC 'Vice CITY' or 'San Andreas'.

LOS SANTOS all the way for me.

I grew up in southern California, and LS is so close to the real thing its crazy.

Obviously it's more compact to make it more easily manuverable, but being able to kill the gang members who used to f*ck with me is great.

Same can be said about some areas in V's map. The "wooded" areas and the hills are bland. Nothing really feels isolated from civilization at all. If you were to camp in this state, you'd feel like an idiot because you just don't feel out there...

While I might prefer Los Santos, I do sometimes get nostalgic. I, or my online player/Niko rather, had some good times in LC.

From a consumer perspective, Rockstar gave us Liberty City over and over again. I'm not familiar with GTA 1 & 2 but, hello:

GTA III
GTA Liberty City Stories
GTA IV
GTA IV - 2 DLCs!
GTA Chinatown Wars

Honestly, I was tired of LC after LCS. I hope they never go back there again.

I don't miss it as I still play GTA IV regularly, but despite LS looking prettier LC feels more like a "city" to me.

Even in random side streets LC has a decent amount of peds and vehicles. By comparison LS feels empty with the exception of the beach.

I guess it all depends on what type of city you like. For me I love the gleaming skyscrapers, the lights of Star Junction, the rough streets of Bohan etc.

It's the perfect location for a gritty crime story. LS is more of a holiday location IMO.

I have to go with Los Santos here (Los Angeles) over Liberty City (New York) because of I have been to New York many times in video ganes so the Southern California setting was a breath of freash air for me. The being said, I would not mind returning to Liberty City with some countryside with GTA V gameplay.

While NYC has been covered many times in video games why do people make it seem like LA is an underused location?

So you've never played True Crime: Streets of LA, Midnight Club: Los Angelas, Call of Jaurez: The Cartel, LA Noire etc? I don't see how it's a breath of fresh air at all really.

R* themselves have covered LA more times recently than NYC. GTA V's LS is the 3rd LA rendition in the last 5 years after Midnight Club: Los Angelas and LA Noire.

LA is just as commonly used as NYC, but from what I've seen over the years here biased LA love typically clouds facts.

LS is based on LA, d'uh.

LC - Many things to do

LS - Big but empty

It's exactly the opposite, one of the biggest complaints with IV was the lack of stuff to do and spend your money on...they totally fixed that with V.

LS ... The more you play. The bigger and better it gets.

Bigger mountains, new houses, buildings, streets, roads, rivers, wildlife, people, cars, etc, etc, etc... It's endless.

This. It's a beautiful environment, and if you've ever spent any time in the LA area, it sometimes feels TOO real.

Loved LC, but LS is just on another level.

No one seems to make LA feel underused but NYC has definatley been used too much when compared to other cities, Rockstar themselves may have used LA more than NYC but when comparing all other games, NYC is used more. Also, an unrelated question, was Liberty City in GTA III/LCS meant to represent NYC, i've herd people say it was but it doesn't look anything like NYC.

add the first grand theft auto to that list. liberty city was one of the three locations along side vice city, and san andreas in GTA1.

Ah, good to know. :)

Alas, Rockstar has beaten Liberty City to death with the redundant stick. Then factor in other game companies and one wonders if game devs are aware that other cities and areas exist in the U.S. and elsewhere on this fine planet.

LC in GTA III/LCS was made to represent a bunch of east coast cities while GTA IV's was to first to reimagine NYC entirely.

I think LS is better, perhaps as it's new, or sunny, i dunno, but with IV, it felt like a more complete game. V's great, but it feels VERY incomplete.

Games, IV
Cities, V

i really like LS, i like the fact that its an island and not a city shaped to the tv screen, i just wish the island was even bigger and the city was even bigger, with, dare a say it, another runway, oh, and a nascar cuircuit.

can you explain to me how there are many things to do in liberty city?

as for me i like los santos better , it actually has a part of the map that is nature and in the middle of nowhere.  while liberty city is just all buildings and concrete. i love a map that has a part where you can get away from the city  and see trees , rocks , and sand. plus there is a heck of alot more to do in los santos than in liberty city
