I was reading an article on Dennis Rodman today and I realised that he has worn those same sunglasses for decades now. Everytime he is in the public domain whether it be interview, TV appearances, or news media he has those same dark sunglasses which block his eyes. What on earth? Why would you want to live your life hiding your eyes from others? The eyes are the window to the soul and an important part of connecting with people.

Yet there are countless celebs that insist on wearing these dark glasses even in situations which don't call for it. Like TV interviews on Letterman and Kimmel. (e.g. P Diddy.)

Karl Lagerfeld has spent his entire life behind his sunglasses! Totally weird! Im sure there are many other celebs that fit this bill that I havent listed.

Why do you think they have to wear these sunglasses all the time. Surely it cant be because they just want to look cool.

Drugs dilate the pupils, so users need dark glasses to keep from being blinded by the light.

Cops wear them so you don't see what they are really looking at.

You know nothing about what you're talking about here. First of all: "Drugs" is a pretty blanket term you're using. Even being sympathetic and assuming you mean recreational drugs, you're pretty far off the mark. Certain subsets of drugs will dilate the pupils to a pretty noticeable degree, but that's a short term side effect, not something that a habitual users displays all the time. There's also your assertion that people will wear dark glasses to avoid being really photosensitive, but that doesn't really happen. Yeah, your pupils are dilated, but the sort of drugs that do that tend to saturate stimulation through the senses; music sounds "better" and colours appear richer and more vivid. It's not like someone turned up the lights but rather that someone upped the contrast.

So unless someone is appearing in public, and remember the OP was on about TV interviews and such, while rolling on something, I doubt that's why they're wearing sunglasses.

They're hiding behind the sunglasses so viewers can't see the rampant bags and the misery of fame in their eyes. It's their agents' doing.

Trying to keep it simple seems to have touched a sore spot for I So Brink.

I really dislike  nitpickers, especially those that can’t read and are unable to separate their own problems from general statements.

So I’ll state it with a little more of an explanation:

"Sunglasses being worn at seemingly inappropriate times may be used to cover up “red eyes” from smoking drugs, or changes in pupil size or eye movements related to drug use."

Drug use by a celebrity (or street punks, yuppies, etc.) is not unknown.

As far as not knowing what I’m talking about, this was what we were told to look for at night and indoors.

That's one confident gangsta ese.

Now it is wrong to wear sunglasses if you're a celebrity?

I wear them everynow and then, I use them to protect me from the sun's ray, to hide my eye bags after a hangover maybe and they look cool.

C'mon dudes.

Yeah this was my thought. They don't want people to see the guilt and pain their lives are made up of. I don't think their agent needs to tell them to wear them though they can do that themselves. Its like they don't want people to see who they really are so the glasses are a smokescreen.

They wear their sunglasses at night so they can, so they can, watch you weave, then breathe your story lines. They wear their sunglasses at night so they can, so they can. Keep track of the visions in their eyes.

Or, it could be because they just like to, ya know, wear sunglasses? Some of them might have to wear prescription glasses so they buy the type that are also sunglasses.

It's probably a combination of the reasons already mentioned in this thread and them lacking substance (though this is the case with most people, not just celebrities). It is the illusion (believed by most\a lot of people) that physical attractiveness beyond natural beauty is in fact a reflection of one's actual value, when in fact it is just smoke and mirrors.

I know this is irrelevant to the topic in hand, but this is the reason why I wear sunglasses. I stick one on my face and stare at butts and tits all day..

lol.

this thread is silly.

it's not because their agent told them to and it's not because they're high on drugs (although sometimes they are...)

the reason so many celebrities wear sunglasses should be obvious. everywhere you go you've got these pathetic, no-life, blood-sucking, scabs known as Paparazzi following you and CONSTANTLY taking pictures. their bodyguards even carry high power flashlights and lasers to try and sabotage the paparazzi flashbulbs.

I would always be wearing sunglasses too if I had to deal with that sh*t all the time.

Celebrities are people, not things. Celebrities WHO wear sunglasses, not celebrities that wear sunglasses. Anyway, don't be judging people negatively for things that don't even hurt anyone. If people want to wear sunglasses, just let them. I'm not even all that liberal, by the way. I just think people judge each other too much and assume too much based on things that shouldn't even matter.
