I managed to power a Romero up Chiliad with a buddy yesterday. Good fun picking the right line to haul up the mountain.

Also the Futo is a good car for climbing Chiliad. Put the rally front on it and some offroad tires and it handles like a rally car as it screams up the mountain, getting sideways through corners. Great fun to be had. :)

Anybody who is "off roading" in anything other than the off road car class is complete twat.

You stupid f*cks know nothing of four wheel driving.

I'd love to see you put a super car up against my Patrol in any off road situation.


Anybody who "off roads" in sports or super cars only does it because they can't do the difficult stuff in real 4x4's.

If you want a real offroad test try the race Gondola Gorge made by Johntaper. It is crazy hard. I think it has only been completed with a sandking and a Kalahari.

Karin Rebel does the job; the aim however is to go up there slowly, because the Rebel, like a lot of off-roaders, has a terrible turning circle when it goes too quick. Best go up there with pacing if you don't want to damage the vehicle or fall off.


I'm going to try it with the Karin Sultan, I can imagine that having that some great control when it comes to going up Mount Chiliad.


Sanchez has great control off-road, so that's another suggestion.


The only thing I'll warn, if you're driving from the south when you get to the top, the road becomes very narrow near the top, and can screw you over. Again, use pacing.

It sounds to me the butthurt is strong with the people saying any other car other than their precious off road category cars. It's not our fault Rockstar can't make this game's driving hyper-realistic.

I'd say the Sultan. The Entity does NOT look like an off-roader, and no, putting the tires on it doesn't make it one either. The Sultan is a good reference to this game:



For bikes, Scorcher. Duh.


For trucks... Serrano or Karin Rebel. Both do the job real well, it's just that climbing a mountain with a tuner SUV looks just as "cool" as climbing a mountain with an Entity.

I'd like to see an Entity drive over an armco barrier as if it wasn't there like our Sandkings do.  Shame they can't join races with the proper off-roaders to prove the point.

I use the Sultan RS... it's not only the fastest 4 door car in the game, it's also 4 wheel drive. The new Kuruma (not the armored version) also is 4 door and 4 wheel drive. (Both of these cars don't have the best brakes) I have tested and watched and read about testing the 2. The new Kuruma is nice to have some competition but not quite up to par with the Sutaln RS... It has not as good handling, ESPESIALLY around corners. It does have faster acceleration and more torque but in the end, the Sultan has faster top end speed and the handling is the one that seems to win the races. More consistency I feel comes from the RS. Now, I prefer to use off-road tires. The reason why (and I suggest ppl test this to see for themselves) is when you put on high end tires on a super and hit a curb you really feel it hard. Going around in a turn and clip the small curb and it bounces you, possibly causing you to loose control. With the off-road tires, you don't even feel the curb almost and reduces the chances of loosing control in a corner. It looks funny having off-roads on a super or other cars, but I have both. If I want the extra added control over terrain that has curbs or other small objects, I can switch cars and use the smoother riding tires. (Kinda ugly on some cars but worth it in some cases) my point? I use the Sultan RS with off-road tires and with 4 doors, great firepower and excellent in the upper part of the map. Not across the streams where I've come across some players races that have you crossing streams. Then the Bifta, Sultan RS and sometimes even the Sanchez will drown. In the case with rivers in a race, I feel the Sandking gives the extra edge over the Dubsta 6x6 just due to the way it handles that situation. The Dubsta is a bit shorter and I have drownd it in places where the Sandking can make it just because of a few inches of height. If your looking for climing over large obstacles and driving through deep water, the extra set of tires will often get you that extra grab and pull you up and over though. If you do choose the Sandking, leave the front STOCK! Even just adding the hooks will lower it so it catches on things and will make it harder to climb steep things. I did find a way to add the front bull bar without dropping the front end and adding the winch by putting on the full kit, then go back and put it back to stock. Then hover around the options and somehow a bulbar will appear without hooks or lowering the front at all! Not sure how long it's been that way or if it will stay. But if it lowers on me, I'm putting back on the stock front end.
There is a lot of variables to look at. As far as the Mesa, (which WOULD be nice if that snorkel actually worked!), the Rebel, Injection and all others, I would take the dune buggy (without the panels).. There is plenty of the other "B" types of off road vehichles, most you can find free somewhere on the map. None really my preferred choices. The Bifta is awsome in the right settings, but will drown in a deep river. The Sandking climbs great in the front (I use the SWB version to not have such a long undercarriage that can high center)... The Dubsta 6x6 has that middle set of wheels that will outclimb the Sandking and won't high center in other areas and vice versa.
Overall just for running around town and drive by stickys with 4 ppl and something that cop cars cannot match at all, I use the Sultan RS with off road tires. The tires do nothing for grip purposes. Any tire will grab the exact same... I've tested it hours on end and so have others tested why the off-road seems more comfortable and stable for many players. It's all in the absorbtion of small bumps or obsticles that keeps its riding fast and smooth in both terrains. They seem to be different but unless you know what to look for, it's hard to figure out why everyone likes to use off-raod tires. Mountains and streets with curbs with curves, the Sultan RS is pretty much an all around useful car. The Sanchez, is almost best in all circumstance except the possibility of instant death or you have to chase your bike down after someone pulling in front of you and you go flying and so does your bike. And not always lands in the easiest spot to retrieve in a stressful situation. If your a master at it, use the Sanchez if your just by yourself. But if your carrying around other people (up to 4 people) for firepower or just getting from A to B, the SultanRS is my favorite choice...
It all depends on the terrain, race course differences, if your alone or with others and if your not exactly rich and have limited space and resources....
The new Insurgent is actually very good at climbing and can throw some serious wieght around. It has a great excelleration to it and an ok top speed. But fully modded it can cost a lot and when (if I should say) it gets destroyed is $16,000 out of your pocket. But you have to go through the heist thing and come up with a large amount of cash. It handles great and has a front skid plate that allows you to grip at the front end. It is the answer to the "drive by sticky bomb" as well. The price for it at close to 1 mil and the most expensive mods for a vehichle, it can be hard to get for some people. The Sandkings and most others can be just stolen from somewhere on the map usually. Still as far as speed and carrying 4 people and 4 wheel drive all around basic vehichle that's affordable to most, I would outrace and outclimb the Insurgent. The Insurgent has quickly become a favorite of mine and in time I probably will like it more. (Unless R* decides to mess with its stats somehow in the future) so it's definatly worthy of being a top contender.
As far as the huge monster trucks like the Marshal and the Atomic monster truck go, they are nice and will even climb over SUV's in their path. But extremely slow excelleration and high end speed. They are awesome at climing over stuff you don't think is even possible, but once it's "pit stopped" or the driver losses control, you take forever to gain speed up to get going again at a decent speed. And the size doesn't exactly make them "bike trail" friendly.... However if you want to go up the most rocky and boulder infested hill, those would be the best choices at the time... I've found they are VERY fun to play around with at the 1/4 and 1/2 pipes made for bicycles found around the map. You can almost "break dance" with one with all the spins and twists both in the air and on the ground...
It all comes down to the driver in just about every way. A good Sanchez rider would outrace and outclimb the Sultan given the right hands.
One simply just has to become used to what you find suits you best...
Mine is the Sultan for just a climb without worry of staying on only 2 wheels or avoiding sticky bomb drive by's... (To each their own)
I have found a few races specifically for the Sutan RS and new Karin Karuma (not the armored version, the regular kind). As I previously mentioned I t's also a 4 door and 4 wheel drive, but still not as fast in tests.... I even made a rough draft race for the Sultan and Karuma... It's all hills and driving along the top ridges of the hills. Not a very good race (not my best that's for sure) but try one around town... And in a race if you can find them...
As for climing Mt Chiliad, I would choose the Sutan RS for all the above reasons... In a race setting and if people place high obsticles to climb over, the Sandking or Dubsta 6x6... I prefer the Dubsta slightly over the Sandking, but for low level players under 100, it's not the best option using one with stock against modded Sandkings... ;)

Whats better for offroading. Sandking 2 door or XL?

I find the shorter SWB doesn't high center as easily because the wheels are closer together. That's what gives the Dubsta 6x6 it's edge over the Sandking in certain situations.
As far as prefomance, they are exactly equal in every way. The only difference is the shorter wheel base.
I prefer the SWB. Not only have I spent hours and hours testing out the off road aspect of the game, several others have done the same...
I have found many people with YouTube videos showing their tests and all come to the same conclusion....

Lots of pictures of some ok vehicles, some are extremely poor examples though. You don't even have a Dubsta 6x6, instead I see 2 Karin Rebels.. Lol... All those KC lights that don't work... I see lots of side paths that can be navigated while you struggle over bolders... A lot of wieght that needs more torque to get it going up. Sit and spin out in one place until traction sets in... Your choosing the path of your choice for examples. You take your route and your Karin Rebel and I'll take my route and my Karin Sultan RS and see who reaches the top 1st....
