So, I had a casual talk in one of the threads in GTA: Online about a recent mass of random pr0n-posts (thread which didn't contain such posts & we talked about it got removed (not locked) for reasons unknown), but I thought of an idea like this in it.

You all know how stuff can get NSFW (= Not Safe For Work) pretty often, especially in a popular forum such as this? Yeah?

Well, this following idea could help to remove at least some part of it.

The idea:

How about create a 'Trusted' icon, looking similar to the 59pzM.png one in YouTube, for example. If you didn't have the icon, you'd not be able to post pictures or video links at all, unless the link was from Social Club Snapmatic (I don't know if it's possible to have the site know that you've posted the link from Snapmatic, just an idea).

A moderator could manually remove it if a 'Trusted' fellow goes rogue. It would also get removed automatically if there is a surge of reports of the guy's posts... if you felt like it was unfairly removed, you could send an appeal to have it back.

How would you get the icon, you ask?

Numerous ways. (notice, only thoughts & ideas, nothing set):

Ways to possibly get 'Trusted':

1) Have x amount of Likes in your posts.

This way your posts could be alright, but of course, you could organize a mass attack of trolls to like each other's posts and have everyone post NSFW stuff together.

2) Have x amount of posts.

Doubtfully a good method, but decided to say it anyway.

3) Attain a good user rating.

Not a safe method, since everyone could just vote you to be 1/5 stars.

4) Attain a good user rating v2.0.

In this one, only other 'Trusted' members and mods/helpers/staff members could vote for your rating. It'd be a safer way of knowing whether a guy is good than the former rating method.

5) Mods give it manually.

If you've been around the forums for decades posting decent posts without still getting a 'Trusted' icon, a mod could give it to you.

What do you think? Give feedback & suggestions if you want.

A couple bad ideas for the casual poster on our forum.

To fix this:
We need a vetting system like large forums.
IE: IP check before registering successful to determine if it's a spawned IP or a real one.
Moderator checks posts for authenticity for first 10-30 posts and determines if poster is authentic.
First 10-30 images posted are vetted before appearing.

Have 'X' number of likes in your profile

Nope bad idea. Only some members here have genuine likes of about 50+ each, most people are begging for likes.

Have 'X' number of posts

Quality over quantity

For all the others your 'Trusted' idea seems very similar to the 'medals' system. A lot of people will turn into trusted whores if this was put in place, when the medal system was present it only led to a few genuine contributors (Miro, shoumic, etc), so no it's a pretty bad idea to be honest. The mods are the best guys to take care of such things.

Wait, people still do that? Even though it has become somewhat hidden?

It's not that hidden. You can easily hover your mouse over someone's name to see their 'respect points' or whatever they're called.

It's a bad idea IMO. There are some people that sign up on purpose to post guides or mods they created or a random member with good intentions that would restrict them from using the forum.

1) Have x amount of Likes in your posts.
This way your posts could be alright, but of course, you could organize a mass attack of trolls to like each other's posts and have everyone post NSFW stuff together.

Check how much likes I have. Now check what posts got me a like (Page 3 onwards)

2) Have x amount of posts.
Doubtfully a good method, but decided to say it anyway.

As I said above, people might want to post mods or guides.

3) Attain a good user rating.
Not a safe method, since everyone could just vote you to be 1/5 stars.

True, not a safe method. Either:

Someone could spam-vote 1 star on good members.

Someone could spam-vote 5 stars on bad members.

4) Attain a good user rating v2.0.
In this one, only other 'Trusted' members and mods/helpers/staff members could vote for your rating. It'd be a safer way of knowing whether a guy is good than the former rating method.

 This could actually work.

5) Mods give it manually.
If you've been around the forums for decades posting decent posts without still getting a 'Trusted' icon, a mod could give it to you.

It would take a while for mods to go through over 300,000 profiles

Well not really but some people just like posts even if it is not helpful.
