What is/was the job you always wanted? I would have to say for me I have always wanted to be a State Trooper or A Swat Team Officer.

DJ.

Proud to say I achieved that career.

I'm also proud to say that I probably earn more than you.

Astronaut or some sort of NASA employee...

Bought a tattoo gun and kit awhile back, so might go into that profession as well once I get the right certifications.

Commercial pilot but since that went to sh*t, I'm looking into getting my private pilot license one day, so I can at the very least fly something.

When I was a child I wanted to drive big ass ships... til that realized that it has to be a friggin boring job and that I needed maths for it.

Now I'd like to be playboy or rockstar, so I can destroy hotel rooms without consequences.

I always wanted to be a military pilot. My grandfather flew during the Second World War, my father trained as a commercial pilot but never got his wings due to illness and I wanted to fly fast jets until I discovered that due to being long sighted in one eye and short sighted in the other I don't have surgically correctable 20/20 vision in both eyes

Musician. I'm already working on it, but I think I would prefer to be independent. There would be less restrictions that way. Also, I developed a bit of a distaste for copyright. I want to own all the rights to the music so that I can allow others to share my music (on YouTube or torrent sites for example).

Professional gaming is another interesting thing for me. I'm thinking of trying to make some money that way as a YouTube partner (in the near future).

I think your misunderstanding them Hunter S Thompson was one if the greatest writers of recent history. Did you know he actually had/wanted his ashes out into a firework which would be set off in his home town Aspen Colorado.

I know quite a bit about Hunter Thompson.. it's called sarcasm, suggest you open your mind a little bit.

As for my dream job, I scratch what I've posted earlier and trade it for Starship Trooper.

For a long time I wanted to be an actor, not for the fame but for the craft. Once I realised that I probably lacked the talent my focus changed and I wanted to become an Officer in the British Army. I'm now waiting to attend my final round of Selection to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

But then I've been at this point for nearly a year now, the organisation of the army's recruitment process was transferred to a private company to improve efficiency and ironically this has ballsed the whole thing up for many applicants. I've had the date of my selection moved 3 times since June and in a process which has taken the best part of 2 years in total my enthusiasm has somewhat worn off.

Max. - welcome to the foibles of the British security apparatus. MoD Defence Business Services would probably struggle to plan a piss up in a beer vat. Actually, that's not entirely fair. They would succeed in organising a piss up, but it would be in the neighbouring monastery, only involve alcoholic beverages beginning with non-alphanumeric symbols, mostly be outsourced, cost £3.3Bn and happen some time in 2026.

I never really had a dream job. Well, there was that time I wanted to be a video-game tester until I was told how repetitive and boring the job really was. The only other thing I would have liked to have done is make my own video-games like notch with Minecraft. Except, I have very little knowledge of how video-games work and I don't know how to code, script, texture, or model objects. I am also horrible with computers, I mean I still type chop-stick style F.F.S!  Tis a hard life...

I used to want to be a video game designer, but I feel like I wouldn't make an impact anywhere that effects the world, or at least my country, in a positive manner. Since about half-way through High School, I've decided I've wanted to become an Investment Banker. I figure the money is good and I could live in the city, maybe even fund a political campaign or two down the road. If I could do any job, regardless of pay, I'd probably want to be a director. I'd love to make movies, but I have no creative drive in me.

I've always wanted to be an astronaut. I always loved stars, other planets and the universe in general. But nowadays I figured that working for the government (NSA alike organisations) is probably the best. Atleast I 'll be on the winning team. :p

Either that or becoming a teacher.

Always wanted to be a commercial pilot (or better yet, a Virgin Galactic pilot). But I know that's never gonna happen. Also, like GunWrath said at first before he wanted to be a Starship Trooper... some job at NASA would be cool too.

I've also always been interested in becoming a professional photographer, but I've never actually done anything about that for some reason... Maybe one day...

I'd very much like to go into medicine. I got good GCSE grades (top in my year) yet they still aren't "up to standard". I've asked about and I've been told that I can still get into a medical school provided I do well in the clinical aptitude tests, the interview, and of course my A levels; so I'm still clinging to the possibility of it.

Same, been practicing for 3 years now. Though I'm probably more emotionally involved with my freelance illustration work.

I've honestly been considering leaving my current firm to focus solely on illustration, and have been looking at getting a grant or a artist residency at some places.

I wanted to be a cartoon animator, or a comic artist. I just really lost touch with art and drawing once I hit puberty.

Since I was a child I wanted to be that "hero" who runs into burning buildings and save kittens from trees…

I am proud to say that I'm just turning 18 and that dream has come true. I'm currently a volunteer firefighter and will be full time in a few more months. My career goal now is to become a registered Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (NREMT-B) and live my life fighting one of nature's fiercest elements until I kick the bucket.

I also plan on enrolling in college here soon for a degree in Graphic Design. But for now I am very happy with my career choice and to see one of my lifelong dreams come true.
