While doing one of the strangers and freaks mission with Trevor,

Spoiler
. Willy from Love Fist DOES appear in GTA Vice City (as a minor character on one of the missions, and can be seen in some cutscenes). However, as some users on this forum say, the 3D and HD universe do not crossover. This is a clear example of a character appearing on-screen in the 3D-Universe and in the HD-Universe. This must mean that other characters do exist within the HD universe too. Just an interesting idea I have thought about.

Pretty sure only Jezz, Dick and Percy appear in Vice City. Can you show us where he appeared in the 3D universe?

Looked into it and he doesn't physically appear in Vice City. We only hear him speaking during one mission.

You're being pedantic, if the band Love Fist appear, and he is in Love Fist, and you hear his voice, that counts as an appearance. Same with Lazlow, even though he hasn't been a physical character until now, he has crossed over from the 3D era.

I always thought this Love Fist was "same band name, all new members" but then the manager started talking about the 80's era and I started to have my doubts.

There can be a band called "Love Fist" in both universes. Does not mean they are the same people though. So the band members in V most likely don't know Tommy Vercetti from the 80's.

Rockstar has said that brands, and characters who we have not seen physically can show up in different eras. Lazlo was on the radio so he came across into the HD era. Willie was only heard and not seen therefore he made the transition to the HD era. Furthermore, it is more likely that bands and musicians are counted under the brand rule so they don't have to come up with new music parodies every time they make a new GTA game.

No. The only reason R* even decided to have separate universes was because they felt like it would be odd having simplistic 3 polygon-faced 3D era characters appear in the HD era. That's why it makes sense that Lazlow is in GTA V in person because he never had a character model in the 3D era. It's a pretty stupid reason imo but that's what they've said.

^ This is the reason the "different universe" is f*cking stupid. At least it's nice knowing in another universe I didn't have to read such a retarded statement.

Love Fist is a brand as much as a Rock band. OG Loc has some CDs too. Music gets treated like Sprunk.

You can wander around the bar during  the mission and see the other members of Love Fist too.

Not really, they could have easily updated the characters and no one would mind that.

The real reason is they wanted to reboot the series. Thus having the freedom to remake the cities and create new stories and characters without having to connect it all with the previous stories/character or explaining why did the cities change so much.

The whole "universe" thing is BS. Anything can go in a fictional world. It's just a way to weed out idiot crossover speculation.
