the only thing i hated about michael was his family.  i wish there was an option to just cut ties and send them away permanently.  trevors story is the best.  its a classic tale of a man and his quest for love and glory.

Michael is not the worst protaganist, Franklin is he offered absolutely nothing, I remember watching his flashy action packed trailers and then seeing 'The Underbelly of Paradise' in a leak and thinking to myself his story is gonna be San Andreas on steroids without the usual dick size loss steroid users suffer from but NO, he was f*cking LAME, no gang sh*t whatsoever, all he was good for was his his driving ability, it reminds me of that time I watched a war film called Jarhead after seeing its action packed trailer on TV, it turned out there was only one 30 second scene with any "war" in it and that was freindly fire.

Trevor however is the greatest GTA protag of all time, non stop action and comedy everytime I play with him and he refuses to be anyones bitch like unlike Niko. Michael on the other hand doesn't have a boring storyline like Franklin does but he has a boring lifestyle, all he does is play golf, and tennis, two of the most mundane sports out there but at least he had something to do unlike Frankie. Franklin had a lot of potential but R* f*cked up big time.

I agree and disagree with some of your points, but I'm with you on what you said about Franklin. I too thought his side of the story would re-invent the San Andreas/gang aspect in this game. What Rockstar did with him was atrocious. But I suppose it's not entirely his fault that Rockstar wrote such a weak script and storyline for him. Well it is what it is, Franklin's side of the story was nothing like that explosive individual trailer of his and that stunning Underbelly Of Paradise video. Yep, Michael's storyline was quite interesting overall, but a large part of it was ruined for me by that long, drawn-out corrupt cop/FIB agent stuff - that stuff just got so boring in the end. I do like Michael, but as a protagonist, he does not deserve much respect from me. For a GTA protagonist to still beg his wife to come back after she openly f**ks another man in his own house leaves much to be desired, Michael really did not impress me there.

I definitely disagree with you on what you stated about Trevor though. Greatest protagonist ? Ha ha, sorry but that makes me laugh. Whichever lead writer at Rockstar came up with Trevor must have been on high-grade Cali weed. But if that's what you think of him, then fair enough. In my opinion, all 3 of these guys in GTA V were nothing special overall, but Trevor was the worst in the game and in the entire series.

@ Ash_735

Well, at least you can see what I'm saying here, and as much as it surprises me, it's good to see know understand what I mean. Rockstar could have put in a ton of brilliant ideas for Franklin's storyline - the kind of stuff that would have made even San Andreas fanatics forget about SA and CJ altogether. Sadly, nowhere near it. To be fair to Atomic, he's just pissed off like many others that GTA V was a bit of a disappointment. You can't blame him.

@ Amanny59

Michael is NOTHING like Tommy Vercetti. Tommy would chew him up like tender steak.

Spoiler?

Micheal is (imo) the best character.
First character to have a family and i find his story interesting.

Nearly every gta protagonist had a family. This guy just whines like a baby when he has everything
So because he has a family and money he's in the wrong for being under stress because of the FIB hassle, the broken relationship with his family and because his best friend is back and causing more stress?

You must be an idiot.

Michael is still 10000x better than Vic Vance the worst one in the whole series. That being said Trevor was probably the #2 best one in the whole series.

if I wanted to fix a family I would've played Sims. gta is about killing ppl and getting money not dealing with family matters like therapy, yoga, and bike riding

Then you simply should have skipped the cut scenes if you found/find him boring.

When 'playing' as Michael there is no actual difference (apart from each characters special abilities of course)

Like several other posters, I beleive Michael is the main character, at least in terms of how the story centers around him.

Personally, I enjoyed his story and love his twitch.  If I had to pick one as the most  'boring' it would be Frankiln.

EDIT>> In free play mode of course.  Naturally, I see your opinion in terms of some of the missions.

I can't decide which one is my favorite, they're all awesome characters with awesome stories. I just wish franklins story was staying in the ghetto instead of trying to get out.

I liked them all to be honest.

If you think Michael's story was boring, you clearly have trouble paying attention.

Franklin was the first character to be unlocked and the one to decide the ending in a failed attemp to compensate his boring story and his lack of protagonism.

Also, without Trevor GTA V would have the most boring story of all GTAs. Not saying that I would like him as the only protag, though.

I hate trevor. His story is the worst. I'd rather play GTA 2 than play as Trevor again.
Franklin is alright. His story is good. He's CJ 2.0
Michael is my favourite and not because the name. His story is the best of all 3.

I liked Franklin's story even though Michael and Trevor's overshadowed it, which i'm gonna guess was Rockstar's intention as it allowed for the A & B ending.

The reasons you guys are listing to explain why you think Franklin is boring are the same reasons why i think he is interesting. I honestly think we've barely scratched the surface on Franklin's personal story and there will be a lot more to him soon.

He's always alone in his house (at least when i switch to him) and i think this added to his character as he basically became like Michael (he turned his back on his friends) Franklin saw a way out of the hood and he took it and in turn it he lost his friends similar to how Michael saw a way out of the bank robbing game and took it and he lost his friends.

So basically Franklin is destined to become just like his mentor, does that sound corny?

Maybe i'm just over analyzing sh*t and Rockstar didn't want to put much thought into Franklin and only wanted to sideline him to Michael and Trevor, who knows lol, but if you want my opinion Franklin will be delved into a lot more in the future.

Trevor is my favorite without a doubt. In my opinion there is no other GTA protag like him. Every other protagonist might have a chance to redeem themselves but Trevor is long gone. Their is no saving the dude, you can picture the other guys quitting crime, but not Trevor. He does not give a sh*t at all. He killed Johnny, that says how badass he is. I would pick Trevor over the other dudes any day.

What theee f*ck I'm readin right now, what's wrong with all kids here?Still bitchin about things..

My favourite is Trevor since I saw him on artwork when was first realeased by R* and strated to love him from second trailer.

Now, I play the game and I love him like never any char in game before, he's well done so great and I can't stand any HATE of ANY protagonist in GTAV.

R* always has a great choise of making main characters, they're so charismatic, with awesome job voice talented actors and ideas so what's the f*ckin problem?

Don't complain you brainless fools.

Michael is nothing like Tony Soprano. Lol what goggles are you wearing ?

His shrink, his c*ntish son, slight older but equally c*ntish daughter, his suburban, family lifestyle that's actually masking the fact he's a criminal. All the SP characters are influenced by multiple characters from TV/film/games, and there's alot of Tony Soprano in Michael.

Agreed. Tony is the first person I thought of when Michael's story started to unravel.

Michael is beyond redemption, he begged for his cheating wife back and never once disciplined his sh*tty disrespectful son and hoe daughter.

It was a nightmare, not to mention the complete FIB and Devon Weston, Martin madrazo bitch boy he was.

Franklin was just bleh, bleh, bleh, should I shoot now michael? How many bullets?

My only relief was Trevor, a man of true action. He wants a cargo bob, he just pop into fort zancudo and gets one. He's a real go getter which is what I like.

But franklins drive ability is the only reason I played him free roam (rockstar conspiracy)

Not condoning what Amanda did but Michael did cheat on her fist if you listen to the story. They are both as bad as each other. It is just an all around unhealthy marriage and sadly a very realistic portrayal in this day and age. Neither one was innocent.

Well rockstar are known for making protaganists who are all together not good people. If any of you have every played the original manhunt you would know. Hell there are no good guys in that game. Even the cops are corrupt.

He wasn't an absolute ass to her about her cheating though, she always shoving his past in his face.. Whilst she was getting off with some guy half her age. She was just unbearable.

I agree about thing about him having everything all ready - didn't make me want to play as him so much. I mean, in all previous GTA's it was such a satisfying feeling of earning or acquiring that great mansion or something similar. He already had it all, practically bar an ideal domestic life. It's interesting for Rockstar to play with these themes but as a pro tag, I want rags to riches. Essentially Michael wins his family back but as a gamer playing a GAME, that really means f*ck-all.

Rockstar need to think about the play and reward system and try intertwine story with this. With Michael I felt it was story before gameplay. Interesting story... but doesn't translate to riveting gaming.

Ok idc what anyone says about me I still beleive Michael is a boring guy.

Trevor had military training, flies planes, and deals with ppl messing up his business

Yea I get Franklin seemed boring but there was so much potential for his character if Michael never came along. We would've had more hood missions if Michael didn't tell Franklin to work with him.

Gta 5 should've been about Trevor and Franklin. Both lived on two opposite sides of the city and it wouldvw been fun for them to meet up and work together

His whole story is boring. Throughout the whole story u just hear him botch about his problems and do stupid missions like yoga and saving your slut daughter from porn producers.
Honestly I hated playing as him because he's so boring. I beat the game and I still don't like playing as him Becus he already has everything and doesn't seem like the type of guy to kill ppl.
sh*t atleast Franklin and Trevor had a more interesting story.
Franklin: trying to get out the ghetto with ppl bringing him down
Trevor: crazy nutjob trying develop his enterprise business and rednecks/ Lost/ Chinese sabotaging him

Franklin is the worst. Completely bland with zero personality. Absolutely mediocre character. At least CJ was memorable. The story mostly revolves around Michael and Trevor. Franklin is just.... well, he's just there, in the background.

Rockstar really should've put more effort into his story. It's hardly developed at all. It seems like they only really cared about Michael and Trevor and only put Franklin in to please the ''gangsta'' wannabes and SA fans.

Looking at it that way, then I take back what I said, you do have a valid point. But at the same time, it's not like Michael was in the Mafia or in any kind of mob, he was just a freelance robber, which is why I don't like comparing him to Tony Soprano, even though there are some significant similarities between the two.

Yeah you are right, but still, Michael was portrayed as too weak and soft on his stance with his wife. She basically got away with murder and he just wanted her back just like that.

I totally agree with this  :^:

Even though I did like Michael and some of his story, I kind of felt the same way. I just did not really feel too motivated to play as him because he already had it all. I just did not really feel there was any real purpose for him to get back into all this sh*t. At least they could have made him lose his house, go bankrupt, have to move his family to some dump of an apartment in a poorer neighborhood - that would have provide that go-get-money impetus for his gameplay to be more exciting. I agree, I think Rockstar got the structure of Michael's story out of place.

As for Franklin, he got rich VERY quick and VERY easy. There was no real depth or substance to his rags-to-riches agenda. What was the f**king point of giving Franklin this dramatic, "I need to to move on to bigger things, make more money to get out of the hood, and live rich"  kind of scenario, when practically everything was handed to him on a plate ?? I mean, he was given that very nice, hilltop mansion - we was not even given the chance to work hard to get that money and buy it ourselves, or buy any property for him of our choice (that's another story lol). And in the end, all Franklin cared about was his own comfortable existence, he did not care to try and help his own gang make more money in the streets - the latter would have made for great side missions and activities.

Rockstar really cut some major corners here.

Michael is easily the best written out of the three. The family aspect is actually the reason for this, you don't get much of that in games and so it was refreshing.

Franklin's story was annoying because it was nothing but bickering between him, Lamar and that other guy that got out of jail. It sucked hard.

Trevor's was good, just not as good as Michael's.

I have to say, Michael's story sh*ts on Franklin's. Franklin didn't even have a story... After Hood Safari, he just became the guy in the group that they could succeed without.

Franklin is an all around boring character. I am not even a wigger who loves gangbanging, but I was SORELY disappointed to not even spend 1/10th my time banging.

Come on really? Where was all the hood life? There's just nothing going on in that situation and it makes Franklin suffer for it. I hate switching to him because I'm always disappointed by his boring life. He's always sitting alone in his house doing nothing. Now compare that to the other two:

-Michael:

-Standing around a movie set with people in funny costumes, talking about himself etc

-Enjoying the sights of the ocean at Del Perro Pier in beach attire

-Playing games and then raging with Jimmy

-Raging at random guards and coworkers

-Trevor:

-Where do I begin?

-Throwing a dude over the freeway overpass

-Jerking off into a toilet

-Riding a scooter and chasing another scooter rider mockingly

-Waking up on a mountain top in a f*cking dress

Now compare that to "yo' homeboi"

-Franklin:

-Always at home alone

-Ironing clothes

-Eating chips

-Watching TV

-Cleaning motorcycle

Boring dude is boring.

But whatever OP, you're entitled to your own warped and retarded opinion. Enjoy.

Thinking other people's opinions as "warped and retarded" is "warped and retarded" itself.

And darkleader, franklin doesn't do all that stuff because he finally got out of the ghetto so now he can enjoy himself. He's now laid back and gets to chill.

He's probably the only black character I like in a Gta game because he isn't like all the other ones, thinking about gang life and crap.
