Well I'm fairly certain a lot of you have thoroughly explored the city -- I'm not talking about countryside -- of Los Santos and absorbed a lot of it's great details.

My question is, which city do you think is better? :) It could be in detail, atmosphere, weather, and/or memories.

I personally am leaning towards Los Santos but then again I am sort of half and half. Liberty City to me felt more open to me, but that was likely because there were more interiors. The detail in both cities is extraordinary, but they both have areas that feel a little inconsistant in detail. The atmosphere I like the most depends on my mood:

Sometimes I want to stay in a place that is gloomy, rainy every 2-3 days, and full of dark history. I love the tall buildings of Algonquin, the beautifully done 3 stories in Broker, the tudors in Dukes, and the suburban slums in Algonquin -- with a taste a well off northeastern suburban life to the north of the island.

But sometimes I want to go to a place full of sunny weather, lots of freeways, modern night clubs, and lots of lower density buildings. I love the mansion in Richman, cliffside overprice houses in Vinewood, hoods in Davis, and modern day suburbia in Mirror Park.

To be honest, I prefer Liberty City in the fall-spring times of the year, and Los Santos in the spring-fall times of the year. That is just me. ;)

Liberty city for me it just felt more like A Real  City los santos  felt a bit generic and fake  in Comparison.  Los Santos is Pretty but it lacks the Heart and soul LC has.

Liberty City without a doubt. It was really well made living city with dense atmosphere. LS looks weak in comparison.

However I think that they are both 2 really well made cities, I just like Liberty City more than Los Santos because I like New York more than Los Angeles.

Oh, definitely Liberty City. Feels much more alive and detailed than Los Santos.

Yeah I second that.

GTA V's Los Santos obviously looks better than GTA IV's Liberty City graphics wise, but that is only because GTA V is a much newer game that has benefited from later technology.

However I still prefer LC because I like New York City better than Los Angeles.

Although I'm critical of LS there are things I definitely like. I love the warm, summertime feeling of the game. Those afternoons where you can feel the warm air radiating through the screen. Riding around on a jetski near the beach and feeling the warm water etc.

It's a good city in its own right, but for me LC is the ultimate GTA destination whereas LS feels more like a holiday destination. It still has its grit and grime, but I love the cold, depresssing feeling of LC. The project buildings where you can feel the filth, trash littered streets, gleaming skyscrapers etc.

All in all both cities offer something very different, but GTA IV's LC will always be R*'s greatest city IMO.

Liberty City for me well is a type of city that inspired me greatly, probably because of the huge impact the story is related to the main setting. Liberty City is filled with dirty-minded, corrupt, optimistic, and opportunistic populace, with the persona of the city being dark, gloomy, eccentric, and cold feel. The theme of the setting really contributed to the empowering story that GTA IV that delivered

Whereas Los Santos is kinda freebie if you ask me. It has that dark feel as well although not much that very deep as compared to LC because part of that mostly is covered with it's glimmer environment filled with beautiful beaches, large mansions in Rockford Hills and Richman, detailed nightlife, and more.

But despite all of this leisure that LS gave, I still prefer the city filled with dark atmosphere that you cannot forsake with. So I'll have to go with Liberty City.

I think that was done on purpose to fit the symbolic nature of the story. Rockstar themselves said Los Angeles was the fakest city in the world home of the fakest people. Everything is to bright, clear and full of self entitlement.

I think I like Liberty City over Los Santos (just the city of Los Santos itself) but LC was lacking in a lot of things.

There is a large section of the city that was neglected and could really add a nice touch to the city. There could have been a large multi-sport statium, 10-20 blocks filled with mansions, a wildlife refuge and a couple of project buildings.

They also made the airport huge for no reason. The airport is sexy, I can't deny that, but they could have made it a bit smaller, it was almost as big as Bohan :p

Not related to the city, but they could have added some Long Island towns. It would have been nice to travel on a large freeway that isn't in the city

just my 2 cents though

V is better game, but I have to admit that LC is better city than LS. Liberty City feels more alive and it actually feels somewhat larger. ( I am not counting countryside.) Also real live Los Angeles is not as dense as real live New York. I can't just have same feeling anywhere in Los Santos than Algonquin in Liberty City. Also every neighbourhood feels more unique and all different gangs and ethnic makes it feel really alive.

I drove around Los Santos without a map yesterday and my perspective of it changed. It felt awesome, the buildings were so interesting too. I got so sucked into the feel of the city. When you do this with Liberty City though... somehow it feels more real and more serious. I wish LS felt like that. It feels kind of superficial.

I love Liberty City.

The density, the grime, the gloominess. It's so tight and compact, it seems as though it's inviting me to walk around instead of speed through like I do in Los Santos.

The only times I enjoy taking a stroll through LS is during the uncommon foggy, gloomy days reminiscent of LC. Davis and Strawberry are the true places I enjoy visiting in V. The gangs, crime, and graffiti reminds me of the neglected corner of LC that I love so much; Bohan.

If we're talking about 3D or HD... I prefer the HD LC over HD LS. With 3D I think I prefer LS over LC.

The best out of all of them is 3D LS.

I prefer Los Santos, I think it's an incredible city, very detailed and diverse. The houses in the hills, the mansions in Richman/Rockford Hills, the skyscrapers, the beach, the Korean district, the industrial zone... besides, unlike LC it has a stadium, an observatory, a race track or a casino. Cruising around Vinewood Blvd at night is awesome.

I love LC too, it's a great city, but I feel it's not as diverse and interesting as LS.

to be honest, while i had such high hopes for V and los santos, IV's liberty city feels way more immersive.

peds seemed to be more reactive, and the gritty feel of most of the areas of NYC was captured.  The scale feels more accurate/better as well.

I like LS much better. I just like the lighter, less serious tone in V overall. LC is cool and all, but just doesn't have the beauty of LS. The beautiful sunsets, glitzy hills, sunny skies. Also the fact that I live in LA really makes me favor LS over LC (never been to New York and don't really have much of an interest to).

I prefer the colorful LS, different buildings everywhere with the beautiful weather than the boring gray LC, too dull.

Have to go with Los Santos (Los Angeles), Liberty City (New York) was great and all but so many games (and movies for that matter) are set in New York, it was nice to visit another American city. Also, the more varied map design in Los Angeles led to more immersion.

Liberty City was dull. As much fun as I had playing there it was boring. The npc's as one user mentioned were more reactive but yet in LS we have celebrity's, NPC HERO's who will try and stop you from robbing a store, and even dogs or people chilling at the beach. Shoot one bullet in strawberry ave (the hood) and watch about 20 red blips pop up.

So don't give me the LC NPC were more reactive. As far as scale I do find LC fun with the large buildings and they did capture the gritty depressing feel. But IMO I like the sunny feel good 'feel' of LS. Swimming in tropical oceans and riding a bike down muscle beach is great.

Whereas LC Is the same retextured buildings plopped everywhere. (Not all the same ok) but all in all LS defitinely trumps LC.. For now

I don't think people actually think when they say this do they? Until you actually cruise around the city observing the buildings, and/or compare Liberty City's buildings in the Street View of NY or actually going there, you can't really say that. There are sooooo many different buildings in every single neighborhood and 90% of them exist in real life NY/Brooklyn/Queens/Bronx/Manhattan/Newark/Hoboken.
