Only thing SA has over V is multiple cities imo.

Everything else was a foundation to V.

V's map is nearly two times bigger than SA's map, are you blinded by draw distance or what?

SA had more activities like going to the gym, casinos, police missons.

v has none of that

Yeah I agree. For the impact San Andreas had and what it achieved for it's time, I would say it is better than GTA V. SA was truly a groundbreaking game, I just don't feel GTA V deserves that acclaim.

More side missions? Quality is better than quantity.

I don't see the problem? They will be constantly updating GTA Online once all the bugs have been fixed. They'll add gyms and fishing and bowling and casinos and stuff like that.

GTA V is not perfect, but it's amazing how many people seem to find absolutely no good in it. I would much prefer the base mechanics of 5, as messy as I find them to be, over GTA SA's. I would much prefer GTA V's city full of detail and life to three empty boxy cities that feel fake. I would much rather play the excellent and short campaign of V over that of GTA SA where the story is all over the place and can't figure out a single focus.

GTA V has plenty to love. IMO

Bigger map, I'm sorry but no. Watch a video with the draw distance removed and you'll see how small it is in comparison to GTA V's map.

Nope, V has taken the place of San Andreas in my eyes. V is the SA of the this generation.

I haven't played V yet, but saying that SA has bigger map is a lie as it has been shown numerous times and also confirmed by Rockstar that V is bigger than maps of IV, Red Dead Redemption and SA combinated. From what I've heard V has quite a lot side missions though, they are quite different from SA ones. V has certainly more side missions.

Nevertheless, both games have something special, there will always be people who will prefer SA over V and vice versa. In my opinion, these games shouldn't even be compared since they don't have that much in common as many people think. SA offers 3 cites and vast countryside & desert, but V offers "only" Los Santos with other small towns and a huge countryside.

Furthermore, SA is set in the early 90s and is primary focusing on gang culture and hood life while V is more focusing on heists and gang culture isn't its main concern and also it is set in the present day, plus storylines aren't similiar in many things.

I have to disagree, Grand Theft Auto V is superior (San Andreas is still a close second though), the map is not bigger, it just has multiple cities and ignored alot of the side missions in San Andreas anyway. Grand Theft Auto V is the best game yet, it's built on a solid foundation of things fans love about the series (big map, aircraft, variety, etc) with the crap removed (bowling, Roman, etc).

Overall, the order of GTA games (In my opinion) from best to worse if as follows:

  • GTA V > GTA San Andreas > GTA Vice City/Vice City Stories > GTA IV/Episodes from Liberty City > GTA III/GTA Liberty City Stories
  • I didn't included GTA 1, GTA 2, GTA London 1961, GTA London 1969, GTA Advanced and GTA Chinatown Wars as I didn't think it was fair for them to be competing with games like GTA V and San Andreas.

Back in 2004, people were saying SA is probably the best game ever made.

2013, they say the same thing for V.

I say them two cannot be compared, considering the time gap. But one thing is certain - both are masterpieces, and will be embraced forever.

Gta 5 has almost all elements that san andreas has.

Ok, they removed: pool, jet pack, vigilante missions, dating, body change, gambling.

But i rather have scuba diving or golf, tennis, hunting, interactive strip club (and bunch of other stuff) over gta san andreas any day.

Don't make me mention online.
