People who voted IV over V must be pretty drunk...

But yeah, i'd say Skyrim has as much right to be in the list as RDR. Not like RDR is fully focused on crime, and i'm pretty sure you can commit crime on Skyrim, for example, killing random people. Correct me if i'm wrong...

Also, Just Cause 2 isn't exactly a crime game.

EDIT: May as well include the Mercenary games.

I wouldn't consider LA Noire a crime game, at least in the same category the other games of the list are. You're in the good side of the law and can't kill pedestrians.

It's almost like different people have different opinions or something. Strange.

Very strange, especially when you consider how little criminal options were in IV compared to V, and how much worse the game play on foot was, how little options/abilities there were in general.

To be fair the list is endless, V is faaaaaaaar superior in most ways. That's not even opinion.

But it kind of is opinion. Wait, not kind of, more like completely 100% opinion. It's like saying that Bioshock was better than System Shock 2 because it had plasmids, big daddies and was underwater. It's not objectively better; it's just your opinion.

On topic, "best open world crime game" is kind of a very broad category. If by most fun, I would vote Just Cause 2. If by most interesting story. I would vote Red Dead Redemption. So, yeah, I'll just vote GTAIV, cause I like having very strange opinions. And also because I like three islands, love the NYC setting, and actually had fun in that game.

I prefer RDR story than GTA V's

But overall, GTA V is better IMO.

One game that I used to play a LOT was the first Godfather (on PC), and the Mercenaries (the first one, for PS2). These are some of the best free roam games I've ever played, along with GTA of course.

GTA IV, EFLC, V, Bully, Mafia 2, LA Noire and Just Cause 2. The rest suck a lot.

P.S. Voted for Bully.

It is, even if you're on the "good side of the law" or not. I wouldn't say the phrase "good side of the law" belongs in the same train of thought as the Noir genre.

I would say IV for me and no I'm not drunk. It was mindblowing, got interesting story, nicely shaped characters and protagonist. Game also made pretty strong impact on me.

Red Dead Redemption takes the cake, it's a masterpiece in every sense of the word, a true work of art, if I have ever seen one. Grand Theft Auto IV is a very close second.

Besides the drawn out story that sort of dragged on, RDR was probably my personal favorite. Just the atmosphere and characters and world as a whole really drew me in.

If it were an option though I'd pick Skyrim, the amount of detail and things to do in that game are amazing, even being two years old I'm still surprised at how amazing it looks running on 7 year old hardware. I've spent hundreds of hours in that game and can still come across things I've never seen before.. not very many games can do that.

Not to come across as a Rockstar fanboy, but I honestly have to say V, RDR, IV, and Bully, in that order.

Well if someone voting for GTA IV is considered drunk I'm damn well sh*tfaced then.

GTA IV > all on that list.

Just Cause 2 is easily one of the best made games ever, so much to do, so much land, not to mention it's engine is absolutely f*cking incredible with some of the best performance and distant LODs in all of gaming.

Maybe but people shouldn't voting for IV yet because not every country has it... So this must be a North America poll only then.

I wouldn't call RDR a crime game to be honest. It's more like a Western game for me.

Exactly

I had way more fun with Saints Row 2 than every other game on the list, except for GTA V. Maybe.

Sleeping Dogs for singleplayer.

Saint's Row 2 for co-op.

Just Cause 2 for misc as it is not technically criminality when you are funded by the government. [/CIA Excuse]

I didn't play all of the games listed in this poll, but from what I've played, it's a tie between Saints Row 2, Bully and TLaD. Guess I'll vote for SR 2.

It's a tie between GTA IV or RDR as my best open-world game. Both games are masterpiece of it's own: great story, amazing set of characters, and the setting befits the depth of the story of the characters.
