Hey guys, i've been thinking about this for a couple of days now and i've decided that somewhere down the line, a DLC involving the south of France, the city of Marseille, and Monte Carlo is just what GTA Online needs for a number of reasons. Please bear with me and i'll explain why, and feel free to jump in with CONSTRUCTIVE criticism or ideas.

Marseille:

Perfect climate of a seaside town with both criminal elements , a large international population, and the glamour we come to expect of the Cote D'azur. One thing GTAO is sorely lacking is European style hot hatchback cars for races and driving around the city. I'm picturing adding Renaults, Peugeots, ETC to this DLC to give us the option to drive these cars that many of us love.

Renault%20Clio%20hatchback%202013%20fron

The yachting:

What better place to set sail in your super yacht than from a place like this, the playground of the rich and famous. I'm picturing adding SUPER YACHTS for the really rich players that act pretty much as an apartment on the sea with everything you need. Both Marseille and Monte Carlo are famous for this and i'll include a picture to help illustrate the point.

Monte-Carlo-Monaco.jpg

Gambling:

What better place to use to add a casino? I know everyone has talked about how we need one in game and this one is probably the most famous one in the world, full of glamour , style, and money and the perfect place to either enjoy some gaming or plan a heist with your friends. I'm picturing baccarat, poker, blackjack, all the traditional casino games.

081017_casino.jpg

High end luxury shopping:

The finest brands are here and would put Ponsonby's to shame. It would be the perfect outlet to add brand new high end clothes for the rich players to spend their money on , and also provides an avenue for heists that would put the Vangelico one from SP to shame.

cercle-or.jpg

HEISTS: As I mentioned, I can't think of any finer place in the world to plan a heist than Monte Carlo. Diamonds, money, casinos, what more could you really ask for?

New high end luxury European super cars would definitely need to be added in this as well.

Tennis Lovers: Roland Garros. We could add something based off of this for the serious GTAO Tennis players to have high end competition on the famous clay courts of this region, where the best players int he world play.

Cafes: Am I the only one that thinks it would be much better to plan a heist from a seaside cafe table over a cafe au lait with your friends rather a than in a stuffy windowless room in your apartment?

New Radio stations: Classic French Music, Algerian/Tunisian music such as Rai, international flavour, Arabic lounge music, ETC could all be added here.

New Food to snack on during survival missions - Much more interesting than ego chasers and p's and q's. Wine, Pernod, and Ricard instead of pisswasser.

Country side of Provence:

Am I the only one who would rather hang out here with the rolling hills of the French countryside and the smells of lavender, savoury, orange blossom, etc filling the air? It would put Blaine county to shame, really.

I can go on and on but am I the only one that thinks this sounds far more appealing than adding a snowy wasteland like North Yankton where you can rob a bank or something? I'd much rather hit a high end shop in the diamond quarter or a Casino with my friends. Besides, it would be great to add an international flair to this. I'm thinking you just board a jumbo jet at LS International and pay 10k or so to get there once you've purchased the DLC, and you can only travel back and forth once per game day to keep it realistic. Frankly I dont see why anyone would want to go back to Los Santos.

Any comments are welcome as long as they are constructive! I hope you guys like this idea.

I fully support North Yankton as DLC, for SP and Online.

In reference to the rest of it, i'd say - eh. Highly unlikely unless R* harkens back to the days of GTA London and decide to parody somewhere other than the United States. As for my personal opinion - also eh. Frankly, i'll be honest and say I don't think the south of France would be that interesting, but that's just my personal opinion on the matter.

Though my opinion could be changed if there were surrounding hills with narrow roads along cliff paths, ripe for racing on.

Overall though, unlikely. US is a bigger market, so more US-parodies is probably what it's going to be.

Well of course we'd have the winding roads of the French countryside and mountains to race the new super cars and hot hatchbacks on, that is one of the main thrills. Check out the picture of Monte Carlo I provided and that mountain, I dont know any GTA player that wouldn't want to race on that in a Renault or an Adder or whatever.

I'm talking about the whole region, Marseille as the main city, Provence as the countryside, and Monte Carlo as a smaller side city with a map roughly 1/2 the size of the current map, maybe a little bigger. Racing would be totally awesome in this.

It's a decent proposal, but I still have my doubts about ever being done. To be fair, I have my doubts that GTA will ever be set outside the US again.

Oh I agree it's unlikely, i'm not saying that they would do it. I just think it is an awesome idea.

Who honestly wouldn't want a Super Yacht as their personal apartment to plan heists, sail around the mediterranean, chill out with your friends in the sun, etc?

Who wouldn't want to see a cool casino like Monte Carlo added?

Who wouldn't want to see more European super cars and European hatchbacks in the game?

I don't see why that should prevent us from brainstorming cool ideas like this. That is just a roadblock that limits intelligent discussion.

You could easily fit Chamonix in the same DLC if that is your flavour. I would love to see that as well and include rock climbing, snowboarding, skiing.

Totally agree. I should have included the French alps in the initial DLC proposal. Thanks for the great idea.

It would be based on your region just like anything else, it would be in English but with French accented voice actors. Glad you like the idea mate.

What an idea!!! Wing suits!! And the monte carlo street racing circuit. I cannot even imagine how awesome it would be to fly about in a wing suit or race at night, on the street lit Monte Carlo circuit in a hot hatchback or European super car. Thanks mate!

Exactly! Perfect place , it's sort of just like a French los santos with both sides of it, the great scenery and the crime. And you have Monte Carlo a short helicopter flight or drive away.

The sea has been so underused in GTAO so far and I think with the addition of these apartment yachts (helipad on board, sleeping quarters, ability to deploy a seashark or smaller speedboats from them) it would really add something to the game.

That car is disgusting, and its lacking European stuff because this is a game based in america. Enough with youre HUNDREDS of threads wanting European based things its just not going to happen and it would make zero sense in a game like this.

I think you are in the minority on this one, with all due respect.

I cant think of anyone that wouldn't want hatchbacks added to the game - Almost every car game includes and even focuses on these because they are so cool and great for souping up and racing. Also great for city driving at the same time.

And I cant think of anyone that wouldn't want more Euro style super cars or a Casino added.

A good idea is a good idea and i'm sorry it is not for you.

There is nothing that says the game has to be based in America, infact, i'm sure people are tired of "Los Santos - Liberty City - Los Santos - Liberty City" and DLC for GTAO is the perfect way to test the waters before basing an entirely new game on an international locale.

Having read your proposal, it does sound very appealing. It would be great purchasing an apartment overlooking the sea, along with new vehicles and the ability to gamble your earning in the casino. I'm not entirely sure if Rockstar Games would consider a downloadable add-on like this, though.

I totally agree that it is a long shot and a one off. Thanks for the constructive comment.

However , I don't think that should stop us from coming up with ideas like this and fleshing them out. Eventually Rockstar will listen and add something like this. It is an absolutely perfect GTA locale for a number of reasons and they really need to get off of this Los Santos - Liberty City - Los Santos - Liberty City kick.

And I dont see any other city in America worth doing except maybe another Miami/Vice city so why not go for a little international flavour?

I was thinking a bit more about how the mechanics of a Super Yacht would have to work. I know before I said that we could drive them, but i'm thinking that will be a problem for sure.

It will probably just have to be like a really cool indoor outdoor apartment surrounded by the sea that you can launch helicopters, sea sharks, boats, or instantly zone onto land from. So I just wanted to correct that.

I went to Monaco last December, crazy place, truly beautiful. And the cars, wow... I saw about 3 Veyrons, an Enzo, a Maserati MC12 and at least 80 Ferrari's in a week.

Not a bad idea, but I would think that San Fierro, and the Las Vegas one have a better chance of becoming dlc. I love the Yacht idea though.
