So they care about the sexual content but not the violence? Wow.

Well like my wife said earlier when I asked her opinion about this,he's old enough that if he doesn't play it our house hell just see it or play it at his friends. And atleast we'd be able to watch him play it and supervise.

I don't think there is a possible way to convince in your circumstances. They think you're too young to be exposed to that

Try being old enough to actually play the game.

My God the amount of non-understanding for the law in this thread is mindf*ckingly depressing.

OP you're best bet is to highlight the good parts of the game and downplay the negatives.

For example: 'Mom, the women in the game are only degraded when I pay 50/70/100...just like you did when you were younger!'

Or: 'Dad, I only steal cars from people that hit me. They totally deserved it'

If that doesn't work bring up the fact that only two characters can use drugs and it's only weed. Plus it's totally optional.

With this foolproof plan you are certain to get what you want bud

Ever since the release of GTA  5 I have been asking my parents to let me get gta 5 and they have said no. I think it is mainly because of the sexual content and Nudity, I have been saying that because its a sandbox game you don't have to go anywhere near to any of that and I think I would mainly use gta to play online anyway. All of my friends have it as well and I'm coming up to 13, but I'm sensible and a mature 13 year old. I can tell the difference between real life stuff and video game stuffs. How can I persuade my parents further to let me get the game I would sacrifice all my other games to get?
Thanks in advance! :-)

Here's an idea! Wait til you're old enough, and then buy it! It's 18-rated for a reason dumbf**k. The age rating isn't a suggestion, its a legally binding age restriction.

man you have 5 years left before you can really make your own decisions...8 years if you live in the USA.

if you go against their wishes now, they're only going to be even more strict in future right?

so in a few years time when there are house-parties going on and that girl you like is going to the next one and you're pretty sure that this will be the night you lose your virginity but your parents don't let you go, you'll probably regret buying GTA.

but if you are enough of a badass you'll climb out the window and storm into the party brandishing your copy of the game, holding it aloft in triumph and shout 'Here I am, suckers!', and the bitches will be all over you and you'll never have to worry about getting laid again.

you really belive yourself when you say you wont visit the places with sexual content? Bouahhaha, riiight. Your still a kid and your parents dont want to be your teachers in porn, doing drugs and all sorts of missbehavior and the game is not that great as the blind masses wants it to be. I totaly understand them.

It's illegal to get the game without your parents actually being there to buy it for you. If the store doesn't ask for ID when you go to buy it, even with your parents' permission, they're breaking the law. You're 13, and you say you're mature, but so many kids play these M rated games, and something like http://www.cnn.com/2...ls-grandmother/ happens and what gets the blame? I'm not singling you out by any means.

But then again, there's always the digital version you can pay for with PSN cards. Don't know how you'll convince your parents though.

I went to Gamestop a few weeks ago and some kid's mom was there to return his Xbox copy of GTA V. She bought it for him without knowing anything about the game. Only after seeing him play it did she make the decision to return it

LMAO @ all these idiots telling him to play a different game and listen to his parents. Hypocrisy at it's finest. Everyone ha splayed GTA when they were younger, I myself have been playing GTA since I was 8-9 and my first GTA was GTA III.

No, I know it seems easy to say like that, but it's still the right thing to do no matter how you put it. I can understand that it is fustrating, I know that me, at his age, I could play GTA. But, he can't. And even if he's whining about not being able to play and no matter how hard he tries to persuade them, this is not going to help. So I don't see how is it hypocrite to tell him what would be the best for him insted of trying to help him in the wrong way.

Little edit: For example, I know it is a bit dramatic but it's still similar. Would it be selfish to refuse to give someone money so he can take drugs? If you put it in your version, yes, it is. You're not helping him getting what he wants, you do not understand why he wants some. But if you put it realisticly, you help him, you are thinking about what is the best for him so that's why you're not giving it to him. You know that there is no point doing that, it doesn't really help anyone.

Well, it's similar here, ok you give him the game or you give him hints so he could maybe get to play the game. Playing the game isn't a bad thing after all. But, the parents don't want to let him play so how do you think they're going to react once they find out? Yeah that's right, it's going to be some serious sh*t. And what will happen if he tries those feble attempts to make his parents let him play the game? Simple, they will still refuse and the more he tries, the more tired will be the parents and do you know what happens when parents arew tired? Consequences. You see? I took the time to think a hell lot more than you when I wrote my post than when you did so who's the hypocrite now?

Geez! I'm impressed with this post...it's one of the very few in this thread which makes sense.

I agree 100%.

Should all these kids get the japaness version of the game and make him not play online? so you guys can relax from these kids and they don't see some scenes like sex tape, trevor banging a girl, two men raping a girl...etc

Show them the GTA Official Gameplay trailer and make them learn about the different variety of activities you can do, buying properties, stocks etc.

This. GTA are some of the games that deserve rating M. Not like that COD sh*t that deserves a T.

If your parents thought you were mature enough, this thread would not exist.

I wouldn't buy for it a 13 year old either.
