US singer and former Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed has died at the age of 71.

Known for tracks including Perfect Day and Walk on the Wild Side, Reed was considered one of the most influential singers and songwriters in rock.

The Velvet Underground became renowned for their fusion of art and music and for collaborating with Andy Warhol.

According to the Associated Press news agency, Reed's literary agent said he died of a "liver-related ailment".

Andrew Wylie said the musician died at his home in Long Island, New York, on Sunday morning and had not been well "for a few months".

Will be missed by many.

Well Americans don't care for much of anything
land and water the least
And animal life is low on the totem pole
with human life not worth more than infected yeast

Americans don't care too much for beauty
they'll sh*t in a river, dump battery acid in a stream
They'll watch dead rats wash up on the beach
and complain if they can't swim

They say things are done for the majority
don't believe half of what you see and none of what you hear
It's like what my painter friend Donald said to me
"Stick a fork in their ass and turn them over, they're done"

So this is an actual artist? Not some reference to GTA 5?

What does this have to do with a gaming forum? There is a news forum for this kind of stuff. Feel i'm being a bit harsh? Go blame the news. I'm tired of reading "BREAKING NEWS! DAVID BECKHAM CRASHES HIS CAR AND SCRATCHES HIS BUMPER! Nobody was hurt.". Dafuq? That ain't breaking news bitch.

Yes...yes they were.

Walk on the wild side is probly one of the WORST songs ever. On par even with The Edmond Fitzgerald for doucheyness.

That being said tho, he was pretty cool as a guy and yeah lived a helluva life. RIP Lou.

PS: they die in 3's so we got two more coming.

Dude, who cares? People die everyday. Get over it you sensitive people. Guaranteed, if it was anyone except a white dude, no one would make a thread.

RIP Mr Reed - you touched and influenced many of us.

And to the person above who pointed out that this is not games related - I agree, it's not. But go and listen to some of the man's music, GTA's America is the same one Lou Reed wrote about. I bet there's a good few Lou Reed fans in the GTA development team.

Lou Reed sucked. He was an untalented wannabe who immitated what real musicians were doing. Then that god-awful Lulu came along. That's all Lou Reed right there. Lulu. WTF was Metallica thinking? I know they regret the sh*t outta it now! Condolences but f*ck that clown Lou Reed. And why is this in the V section?

Cheers mate, you described it much better than I could. Sorry guys if it's irrelevant but this is the only forum I visit and I had to post is somewhere as I'm at work with no-one really to speak to. I think a lot of Lou Reeds songs capture the dystopian criminal world with loose morals that the devs at Rockstar capture within their games. I think they are both a delve into the underworld that I know a lot of viewers on this forum appreciate.
