This whole series is based off one movie - Bullet. If you've never seen it, watch it - the greatest car chase scene of all time

Scarface = Vice city (90%)

Heat = GTA V (50%)

Boyz n the hood San Andreas ( hood life ONLY)

Carlitos Way because Ken Rosenberg from Vice City was heavily inspired by the one character in the video above.

Reservoir Dogs not so much directly, but its another general crime movie.

Also, Trevors introduction scene reminds of this scene from Goodfellas: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=7pQ6fd6iO_c

There's a lot of really cool movie easter eggs in the game. I'd kill for a DLC based on Reservoir Dogs.

Pulp fiction. It's the humor, yet darkness of it all.

But Scarface, Carlitos Way and Heat are probably the biggest influences

Not a movie, but The Sopranos had one of the heaviest, and most obvious influences on GTA V. Anyone who has watched that masterpiece of a show will know exactly what I'm talking about. Hell, even Dan Houser himself admitted he watched The Sopranos!

Pulp Fiction. In fact the game itself has a Tarantino feel. Some of the conversations between Michael and Trevor like the hipster one are like something straight of a Tarantino movie.

I was shoping around with Trevor and saw there's the "Drive" jacket that Ryan Gosling wears in the movie (the white/grey jacket with a gold scorpion in the back) except for Trevor it's a crab. Nice little touch. I'm sure others have noticed but it's the first time I've seen it.

It's the Binco or whatever store.

Reservoir Dogs heavily influenced gta v... Michael is loosely based off several different movie characters, including and especially Mr. White from Reservoir Dogs. The movie itself is based off a heist gone wrong. Gta v is all about heists. Very similar

The subtle option of The Big Score was obviously inspired by The Italian Job.

This is a hell of a bump but it's a reasonable topic so hopefully it can stay.

Trevor reminds me a little bit of Bud from Kill Bill 2

GTA got influenced from movies and in return Influenced many video game franchises and it also Changed the Openworld Genre Forever (and the Gaming Industry)...In fact Great and Legendary Game Franchises get influences from movies and MGS was no exception.

I didn't think Michael was anything like Neil McCaully, other than a similar suit, and of course heists. I wish we had a protag similar to Ordell Roby from Jackie Brown, Samuel L Jacksons best role IMO.

NO country for old men

One of my favorite random events. Also like adding a silencer to the shotgun and roleplaying as an anton chegeur type character. Just wish we had assassination/contract killing missions for Trevor.

Carlitos Way because Ken Rosenberg from Vice City was heavily inspired by the one character in the video above.

Reservoir Dogs not so much directly, but its another general crime movie.

Watched Carlito's Way again the other night, I believe the character is named Dave Kleinfeld, or something similar.

I'm pretty sure I clued quite a few in about the shotty similarities to no country for old men. We're missing more movie references I'm sure of.

Crank, The Town, Smokin' Aces and Burn Notice come to mind. Especially Burn Notice, it's a TV show that's structured a lot like GTA, you'll have to open the video on Youtube though.

Huh.

I don't think it was meant to.  I don't know if you've ever seen Breaking Bad before, but with SO MANY BB references, the scene with Trevor and Johnny reminded me a LOT more of this particular scene.

...SO MANY BB references...

I'm not sure why people keep saying GTA 5 has so many references to Breaking Bad. The video you posted just shows some dude beating another guy up after luring him into a false sense of hope, which is common for people like that. The only reference I can pick out is that "meth'd up" mission in GTA Online where you have to steal an RV where meth is cooked, and even then, people have been cooking meth in RVs for as long as RVs and meth have been around.

No In fact TLAD (2009) influenced SoA (2008) lol why? because TLAD was announced in 2006 with details and got a trailer in 2008 but was delayed and released in 2009...anyways how do SoA a Show that revolves around Motorcycle Gangs influence a game that is Heists focused?

I thought Michael was so obviously based on DeNiro in Heat?

Michael-gta-v-robert-de-niro.jpg

You know, in those long dark terrible months of 2012, waiting for GTAV info, I truly thought that Heat was going to be the biggest influence on GTAV.  But now that we actually got the story, the inspiration that I thought was going to be there, all fell apart.  :cry:

True that Michael has kind of a Neil McCauley look, but the baggage of the married lifestyle Michale came with, was completely unlike the key theme in Heat.  :bored:

And then, I am sorry to say, the "heists" in GTAV did not live up to the magic of that Heat bank robbery, and even the GTAV armored car heist was a letdown compared to my Heat-based expectations.  :/

I will say, however, that in general the firefights in GTAV and GTA0 do have some of that great flavor of the Heat shootout.  :^:

In terms of multiple epic car chase movies, I also think that GTAV / GTA0 do capture that kind of car chase and cop chase vibe very well.  :^:
