Before i start i'd like everyone to post mature answers please.

If you got nothing to say don't even bother.

So what do you think about kids playing Grand Theft Auto Online? Surely, there parents must not give a rats ass about there son and or daughter.

As you can see in the bold text above what is your thoughts about this?

it's okay to let them play but when they have a microphone and there is like 4 of them swinging racial slurs left and right it has to be down right mind blowing. Earlier this morning i heard a little pommy kid. Robbing a store and yelling at the cashier.. now clearly this doesn't bother me but that kid is throwing slurs like: ''ni**er, dickhead, Cock sucker, motherf*cker, Jew, greedy ass c*nt''

Does this kids parent care about him? come on seriously, If i was that kids parent i would belt the f*cking sh*t out of him.

and lock him in the basement for a week.

Have you encountered a kid in GTA O? what is your thoughts on this matter.

It's like CoD same sh*t.

Well I'm 15 but I'm more mature than my age suggests

what I hate is when the kids and adults provide a running commentary of their gameplay and constantly blow into their microphones and play pathetic kendrick lamar and Justin Beiber songs.

2pac is the best rapper most modern kids have no taste

I don't think this should stop them playing games however as I've played games since I was a little lad

and it hasn't affected me what I do think the parents should do is remove their Microphones.

Kids really shouldn't be playing any game rated 18. It's the law in most countries. Those parents are horrible failures. My wife's little brother who is 12 has a youtube account with video's where he says hello motherf*ckers, and flips the bird. Another one of him and his sister out shoplifting. They think it's a great laugh, and the mum is so f*cking lazy she can't be bothered to do anything about it.

Two years ago, my wife discovered a 23 yr old had been grooming her 13 year old sister. She went straight to her mum, expecting the police to get involved, and all her mum did was to say 'oh, she's so silly'. That was it. Disgusting.

That is the kind of parents these kids have to deal with, so when I see underage kids online, I actually feel sorry for them. Until they become annoying dicks, then I spray them with lead and mute them. I can't save them all!

No point in complaining about it. Yes I really despise them and they grind my gears but every online game ever has been completely infested with squeekers, just learn to use the mute button and punish the little sh*ts.

Mute button is your friend. I don't really care personally since I can just mute the loud annoying ones and some underage kids are mature enough that you don't even realize how old they are. Like it doesn't pop into your head, hey this is probably some kid playing (most likely the silent characters or the ones that only talk when it's useful)

I'd vote if the "No" option wasn't followed by "No, i dont care because they're not my child." - Honestly, it sounds asshole-ish to put it that way. A "yes" or "no" pool would be much better.

In my honest opinion, I don't mind. Not "because they're not my child" but because I've started to play GTA when I was 13 and I'm currently 16 - And I believe it's all about maturity and respect. I do agree, it's horrible to see little children swearing at each other in the mic, but that doesn't mean all kids are like that. Furthermore, those kind of people aren't just underage, I've seen as many adults swearing and being bad sports online as much as I've seen kids doing it.

Poll options are biased, as if everyone thinks children shouldn't play. I wouldn't care even if they were my child. I was playing Tenchu, Resident Evil, and GTA games as a kid, and the only impact it had on me was making my life more enjoyable. It also makes it easier to make friends, since you have more interesting things to talk about.

If the age of the people you play with is such a big concern to you, you probably need to focus on improving how interesting you are as well.

Most people in this thread probably played 18+ rated games when they were younger. Hypocrites!I bet most kids are playing GTA now or will be a Xmas, so no chance would I tell my kid he can't play when all his mates are.

I never played 18+ games when I was a kid, mostly because I grew up in the 70's/80's and there were no 18+ games. So i'm most definitely not a hypocrite. You however are uninformed and look foolish.

Even though I played GTA III at a very young age, I still have a problem hearing these kids online cussing and yelling. I don't mind if they play because I just assume their parents either don't know what GTA is (like mine didn't) or their parents just suck, but I do have a problem with these stupid asses kids turning their mics on and interacting with grown men in a violent video game.
I recently deleted someone off my friend's list because I realized he's a little kid. I hadn't heard him speak before. Sometimes he'd send me messages while we played The Last of Us multiplayer, riddled with curses.

Another thing, though. About a month before GTA V came out, I was at GameStop. This dad came in with his two young sons and young daughter. These kids were having him buy nothing but M-rated games, and the dad clearly didn't understand jack sh*t. He even asked the cashier about some of the games, but all he cared about was whether or not there would be nudity in games like CoD or Assassin's Creed.
His little boys were sh*theads, too. "I'm gonna unlock a bazooka and blast everyone!"

Most kids that play games will play GTA. Even if they don't own it, chances are they will have a friend that does where they play it. Most kids have seen a lot worse than GTA. And you just said you didn't play them because you grew up in the 70s /80s , you probably would have if you grew up at a later date.

You are coming across as a bitter old man, what is your problem? Good kids that play gta will still be good, bad kids who play gta will still be bad, got f*ck all to with the game impacting on them.

I do not think underage children should be allowed to play this game.  In fact I think it should be just as bad, and carry the same penalty as buying you kid alcohol and here is why:

Whether or not a child behaves mature enough to play this game, fact remains that a young mind is more impressionable and still forming a personality.  Hell, my personality changed completely from 22 to 27 and I'm still not sure I'm a grown-up.

I don't think that playing this game will make children murderers or criminals, but games like this certainly cause some of them to behave like foul-mouthed monsters online.  I don't want to hear it online, and I don't want to hear it in the real world.  Many kids today already have no idea what eye contact is, I'd rather they didn't call me a "f*cking fa**ot" all the time.

Some people will fight back with "It's MY child, I raise them how I want.  What do you know?"  It's true I don't have children so I may see things differently later.  It's true that it's YOUR child, in the fact that you are THEIR parent.  You don't OWN them, you can't just do what you want.  From my understanding, a parent has a responsibility to create a functioning member of society and raise a decent human being.  If buying your child this game contributes to you making another foul-mouthed, entitled asshole, I think it's fair to say you have failed in that aspect of parenting.

15, 16, 17 year olds playing, probably OK.  9, 10, 11, absolutely not.  Kids younger than that playing, I have to wonder what the hell the parents are thinking?  There is a strip-club simulator and that is pretty much soft-core porn.  It is illegal to show a child porn and so it should be illegal for parents to buy this game for an underage child.

I'm fine if kids play as long as they aren't screaming over a mic and act like a douche.  Other than that...if your kids are good, let them play.  GTA isn't going to turn them into serial killers.

Its important to remember there are no right answers to this question.

What a child can handle, and what their parents choose to let them interact with within their home is their private matter.

Yes, the game has an R18 rating. But this restricts sale of the product and display in public areas and venues. As with most restricted materials, within the walls of a private home, so long as the child is not endangered it is to the parents discretion.

Yes, there are children playing the game, who really shouldnt be playing. But there are also adults who are just as bad or worse than those kids, so throwing stones in glass houses and all that.

There is no definitive answer. You can only decide for yourself and your own children. To think you or anyone else has the right to dictate what others play is half the problems videogames face in the legal world. If you come across people who are really that bad? Report them for whatever abusive behaviour they're doing on the networks relevant.

egoloss, have you also had cognitive function loss? You remonstrate DwnShft for saying he didn't wanna hear those 'little sh*theads' saying they would balst everyone with a bazooka. He has every right to be annoyed,. It's the main reason this game is an 18+. just because you're an incompetent parent and happy to let your little ones play GTA, doesn't mean we should be happy to listen to them. I have no idea if your kids are good or bad. That's irrelevant. CHILDREN should not be exposed to adult experiences. It can damage them for life. Yeah, it's only a game, it's a very sexist violent game that has a very sexist attitude. Kids will pick up those cues subconsciously and it will work it's way into their decision making and perception. no matter how subtly. No it won't make good kids bad, that argument is and always will be stupid. But it does expose children to things they shouldn't be seeing at their age. Just because their friends are playing it is not a defense, if their friends are doing crack behind the drama block at school I assume you'll let them join in too?

I'm a not a bitter old man, I enjoy gaming, among many hobbies, but I do think there are age ratings for a reason. I wouldn't invite my young son to play GTA any more than I would invite him to a strip club. I play GTA because i'm an adult. He doesn't because he's a child. Perhaps when you mature you'll do a better job with your kids.

the kid can play offline all they want if the parents allow it. that's their choice as the parent and it doesn't affect anyone else.

online should be enforced and all little kids should be banned. this isn't a kids game. just like you don't want adults hanging around the playground we don't want your kids in our lobbies.

you should have the ability to report underage kids playing mature games. the kid has his game stop and a warning message pops up. continued use of this product by a minor will result in a system ban. so that way the parents actually pay attention to what their kids are doing.

Great post.  In short, if your kid is unstable and/or a smartass...no GTA (or any other online games for that matter) until they are more mature.

The mind never ever stops maturing and changing the way you view life entirely, At a young age people are much more impressionable and I would not allow my son to play this game on his own without supervision and there is no way he would ever be allowed to talk online in a vulgar way.

There is no cut and dry right answer. Everybody is different. For anybody, including myself, to assert themselves and actually think you have the right to tell somebody else what is right and wrong for their child is just plain ignorant, shows very poor judgment, and is enough for me to know your opinion isn't valid in any capacity.

Kids saying they are gonna unlock a bazooka actually annoys some of you? Very strange, you must have some real issues to think kids are sh*theads for saying that. I guess most of you were completely silent when you were kids and never said anything stupid. Yes, you are 39 and you are sounding like a grumpy old grandfather. Perhaps you are too old to be playing GTA, you obviously can't handle it. I don't understand why you don't just mute? Extremely pathetic for a man of your age to be on a forum getting upset about it.

I strongly believe that little children should not be playing this game. They simply can not handle the privilege of interacting with others. I will list some examples below.

The little children will scream, sing, or swear over the mic just to annoy everyone. When you tell them to please stop, they find that funny and continue doing it.

The little children will look at races as an opportunity to run into everyone and ruin the race thinking it's funny.

The little children will look at missions as an opportunity to ditch you, therefore leaving it up to you to finish it.

The little children will try to troll you.

The little children will do stupid things like cheat or purposely get bad sport and think it's funny.
