I'm currently at level 38. I notice that I have far less car mods available than in the single player.

Also, I have a "charger" but it is the older version. Is there the updated version like the one franklin has in single player? I made a really cool, fully modded car out of Franklin's ride in single player, and I want to duplicate it for online.

I only see very limited options for modding in the custom shops. Am I too low in RP rank?

No alot of parts unlock by winning races, getting turbo starts, even doing stunt jumps. The majority of parts are from winning races though. There are a few things that do unlock at higher levels like armor and 1 of the car bombs. If you go to the item you want and its locked it will tell you what you have to do to unlock it.

I'm level 61, and I STILL cannot use the mods I want... Some are like level 75-81 to use...

Level 100 is required for 100% armor. I think that's the highest level-restricted car mod.

75-ish I think. That was the last thing I recall unlocking for car mods.

Bed cover for the sandking.

Edit: Forgot about armor lvl 100

This.

I have everything possible on my Cheetah at level 64 except for the armour.

I thought level 71 is required for competition suspension? Perhaps the Cheetah does not have suspension mods?

To find out how to unlock a particular mod, select it in the Mod Shop and at the bottom of the list it will print “This item will unlock when you reach Rank 100” [for Armor Upgrade 100%].

Just took my Gauntlet to the modshop to get a full list of unlocks for performance mods for you:

Armor

  • 20% — rank 10
  • 40% — rank 30
  • 60% — rank 60
  • 80% — rank 80
  • 100% — rank 100

Brakes

  • Street brakes — 11 races won in this class of car
  • Sport brakes — 27 races…
  • Race brakes — 39 races…

Engine

  • Level 1 — 3 races won in this class of car
  • Level 2 — 15 races…
  • Level 3 — 31 races…
  • Level 4 — 43 races…

Explosives

  • Ignition bomb — rank 25
  • Remote bomb — rank 50

Suspension

  • Lowered suspension — rank 17
  • Street suspension — rank 36
  • Sport suspension — rank 56

Transmission

  • Street transmission — 7 races won in this class of car
  • Sports transmission — 23 races…
  • Race transmission — 35 races…

Turbo — 19 races won in this class of car

Bulletproof tires — rank 20

----

Some cars have more options available. The Gauntlet doesn't have competition suspension or competition transmission. Also, I'm not including the aesthetic mods (which can unlock according to rank, number of stunt jumps completed, etc.). Some vehicles won't have all of these options, some vehicles will have more. I think that any car which offers a particular mod (competition suspension, e.g.), has the same requirement for unlock (whether a particular rank, or a certain number of races won in that class of car).

The least customizable I've found is the FIB SUV, which only has explosives, respray (limited options), and bulletproof tires. The most customizable car, I believe, is the Sabre Turbo, which has options like stunt cage (other cars sometimes offer roll cage), and wheelie bar.

Also.

Lava red: Do a sh*tload of slipstreams (80+)

Lime green: Do 25 stunt jumps

There are some colours in between that require stuff like 10 slipstreams and 5 stunt jumps

Ah yes, I think you're right. I haven't really taken notice of the suspension part. I must have the one below that.
