don't worry if youre running low on oil, and you don't need to do oil changes in gta

If you are not old enough to know that there is no Oil tank, then you are not old enough to be playing this game.

Assuming you mean gas tank (there is no oil tank, the engine oil sits in the oil pan which is bolted to the bottom of the engine block).

Gas tanks are generally near the middle-rear of the car.  Modern cars tend to have them located in front of the rear axle line to protect against rupture in a rear end collision.  I don't know if any of this matters though, as I don't know know if R* bothered to go to that level of detail.

Lol y'all are dicks.

I was curious myself if the gas spilling out can be triggered in a certain way. I shotgunned the back of a car the one time and saw it start spilling out. Freaked out and ran like a pussy fearing it'd explode. Another time however I AK-47'ed the hell out of where both the gas tank, and the opening to the gas tank should be, and nothing. Wonder if it's random. Guess the easiest way to blow one up without explosives is just to shoot at the grill like in GTA4

That's funny someone brought this up. Yesterday I was using a silenced pistol and kept firing at the lower back of the VW Van (whatever the GTA version is). Nothing. So I am curious if you need a certain amout of damage on a weapon to rupture the tank...shotgun maybe.

I was being a dick before but gasoline is oil. after oil is pumped from the ground they get sent to oil refineries to be converted into gasoline along with other things and its not just used for food. oil in a car is used to lubricate the engine.

i'm not 100% sure but they seem to be on the left side of the car, just in front of the rear wheel on every car except the battery powered one.

stand back they don't always leak, they can explode instantly when pumping some rounds into them

edit.  it's either left or right,  it does not work on both sides of the car

Cars will leak gas and yes you can ignite the trail..and yes it will go boom.

My car was leaking, so for fun I shot the trail and drove around with a line of fire following me...needless to say it finally caught up.

Reminds me of the time my father inlaw changed his oil for the first time, the street looked like the BP oil spill.

The gas tank is in different places on different vehicles

Usually it's on the driver side, near the mid-rear part of the car (like near the bottom-back corner of the rear window). But some cars have it in the front near the hood.

Good question though because I played a mission online where I had to blow up SUVs and one in particular I shot over 500+ shotgun rounds into it before it finally caught fire and exploded. Maybe it was armored but I triad all types of weapons...it was ridiculous.

Try the lower front portion of the back driver side wheel well. That usually works for me.
