which one will win? I personally am sure that GTA V will win, I mean it's epic and the majority is liking it, but let's not forget there is some good competition.

 

yes there are games that I did not include like fifa saints row but I just included the ones that are most likely to win the award

 

EDIT: forgot to put bioshock infinite which is a big competition to gta v too... my mistake

Before GTA V my candidates were Bioshock Infinite and The Last of Us. I also would consider The Walking Dead into that but it's from last year even though I played it in this year. But now, after playing GTA V it's no doubt that it will win GOTY in my opinion.

 

Of course this game is not perfect. However a very important factor of a game is the long-term motivation and GTA V certainly does have it (over 90 hours of playtime so far). I got "only" about 20 to 30 hours in the other two games. For me personally the story in TLOU and Bioshock Infinite is better but the gameplay in GTA V is better than in the both games. Each game got its advantages and disadvantages and I would even go that far and say that GTA V got more negative things than the other games. But it also got a lot of positive things and they outweigh those negative things by a longshot.

 

Personally I would rate the following games like that

GTAV: 9.5/10 (fun: 10/10, gameplay: 10/10, story and missions: 8/10)

The Last of Us: 9/10 (fun: 9/10, gameplay: 8/10, story: 9.5/10)

Bioshock Infinite: 9/10 (fun: 8/10, gameplay: 9/10, story: 10/10)

yup only thing bad about TLOU is gameplay is the same as most of the zombie games although the story is exceptional

having said that, i will enjoy ASC4 maybe more than GTA5. but both are equally awesome in my opinion. just something about sailing the seas, the caribbean look, and being a f*cking pirate that sweeps anything GTA could ever do right under the table.

it did sell 20 mil, however, being so bad ass only about 20% of the people who bought it will actually "beat" it, or continue to play it online. it has shown in ALL previous GTA games to be the same.

GTAForums. But since I'm not a fan boy and an honest gamer, it would be neck in neck with The Last Of Us without a doubt.

GTA V isn't as great as they say, but it definitely isn't terrible. And like OP said, Last Of Us has the best story of the year

Infinite is good, but its nothing compared to the first. The first takes videogames to a whole new level. Unforgettable experience.

I find it funny how some people will say the Last of Us was more "emotionally gripping".

 

It seems like here in America some people believe the only feelings and emotions that exist are sadness, grief, uncertainty, strife, and depression.

 

GTA 5 is the most "emotionally gripping" game I've ever played. It stimulates my mind in a way that I forget to go to sleep, and what time of the day it is.

 

I find it weird how movies, games, books, etc., that focus on the conflicts of relationships, uncertainty, are called "mature". While those focused on sex, happiness, adrenaline rushes, etc., are considered "immature".

 

Being happy does not mean you ignore the struggles of life. As if anyone would prefer to live a life of the former over the latter.
