I've seen some screenshots with holes/brain matter, but I couldn't tell if they were real or not, and I've seen someone on here mention new entry/exit wounds...

Any truth to it? Is it anything like RDR? Any dismemberment?

It's so disappointing to slam into a deer at full speed without doing any visible damage...

Yeah I was super let down about the lack of RDR style gore with the exit wounds and stuff. Seriously depressing, I can not believe they went the GTA IV route after TWO games with amazing bullet wound damage.

Gore in the new patch is news to me. Who told you this? And where are these pictures you saw, if you can post them here. I find it rather unlikely they secretly added in better bullet wound damage since this was mainly an online big fix patch. Not that I don't want it to be true but I don't see it happening.

The retarded part is that they have some gore in a few select cut scenes and it's some pretty gnarly stuff but yet they refuse to use these effects on in game models. Ill never understand why they decided to keep GTA V "clean" per say and went with the awful IV era blood and bullet damage.

I agree.  Why would R* keep the game clean of gore?  RDR and Max Payne 3 were steps forward for R* rendering gore with this engine.  There is all kinds of offensive language, naked boobs, balls and penises, etc. in this game, yet we can't have a bloody hole in a CG head with some skull poking out?

I wondered about that too, i was somewhat disapointed after discovring that the wound System is very bland, comparable with GTA IV. I doubt they'll Change it though.

edit:seems to be better since the patch.

I really just want to know one reason why the decision was made to go without gore after what we saw in RDR and MP3 using the same engine.  Any ideas?

Yeah I was thinking the same thing myself.

After stabbing two bouncers outside the Casino who were kicking off after I switched to Trevor there seemed to be a lot more blood and gore than pre-patch.

I think this is the specific post I was thinking of, but I know I saw others, as well as people talking about bigger puddles of blood...

There's soooo much about this game that is just... bad. Stuff that was fleshed out fine/better in ps1, n64, ps2, and xbox games.  I can't believe people are just playing along with/defending it the way they are.

The best thing I could come up with is that because GTA is their flag ship series they may not want it be as gory as MP3 and RDR. They clearly chose this style on purpose.

I was actually disappointed by this. I was really hoping for more gore than there is, but I hope it gets added in.

I take back what i said, the wound System really got improved, while not being as good as the one in RDR, it is definatly better than before the patch or GTA IV, i can remember that before, no matter how often i shot someone in the head with a shotgun, there was no damage.
