STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND READ!

Something don't look right, don't panic, relax, and restart!

If you find something missing when you load into online, DON'T DO ANYTHING ELSE! Shutdown your console and reload the game, they will reappear. Now, if you did not follow these simple steps, left your apartment/garage and did other things and the game eventually saves, you're screwed.

AGAIN. Something don't look right, don't panic, relax, and restart!

This also goes for missing characters, don't spam retry, don't make a new character, don't panic, don't do anything, and restart console.

Never lost a single thing since launch due to the above.

Don't fall victim to shoddy Rockstar servers EVER AGAIN!

For people that have lost characters, cars, apartments permanently. don't give up! Rockstar is looking out for us and there are signs of them having a backup database and working around the clock to restore your sh*t.

Common sense for the average individual might not be the same as yours, sir. Poor lost souls wouldn't have lost sh*t permanently if that were the case, and this is to get those men and women back on there feet to fight another day. ;o

When it happens to me I hit the ps button and sign out of psn.

This loads single player when returning to the game.

From there, sign in again and load online.

Haven't tried with the xbox version though.

This works on Xbox also, just hit Xbox button and hit X to sign out. It will throw you back to single player without saving.

Looks like there will be a patch today for Xbox, hopefully they got it right this time.

For PS3 players, have you ran into any issues with characters disappearing or cars missing after 1.03 patch? Or rather, have your characters/cars come back?

That's unfortunate man. At least they're hearing us and giving a decent compensation

Looks like they will be jumping ahead on the patch version for Xbox, current patch # is 1.02 and for ps3 they're on 1.03. 1.04 is due out sometime this week for both ps3/xbox and seems to be quite a big patch on the bug fixing front.

Hopefully heists/content creator will soon follow too.

Glad to see this helped people.

Cheers. :^:

Works for many others.

I'm sorry you lost your cars permanently, but this does work if you did not save. Loading into the game, you spawn inside of your apartment or garage. You go into said garage, notice cars missing, don't do anything, shutdown console and restart.

If you walk outside, your game will eventually save.

I'm just saying,

Shutting down your console repeatedly isn't a good idea.

Because your game eventually saved..

Obviously this won't work for everyone, as everyone situation is different. Maybe someone loaded in and the car disappeared while they were playing the game, tough luck then.

This is for people that notice there character not appearing, and cars not appearing in there garage when they load into the game.

As I have said before, you have to catch whatever is missing before your game saves to the server, then stop what you're doing and follow the tips provided in the OP.

No one said to shutdown the console repeatedly. One time does the trick, and also signing out of xbox live or psn works the same way as restarting your console.
