Two friends of mine were banned earlier today and Rockstar Support Manager basically explained over the phone (more summarized, not word-to-word): "We're aware of the issue and until we can fix it, we'll ban anyone with a history of abusing this design flaw. It will ruin others' enjoyment by disbalancing the economy that's vital to the Online experience. We're in discussion with Microsoft, too, to escalate these bans from online privileges to user accounts as a statement against these antics. We don't expect any outrage from the law-abiding playerbase who haven't devalued others' items and hard-work with an exploit - these the customers we are proud to help."

Well thats half of the online gta players banned

most likely temporary and then reset.

I think this is right by R*, farming a mission, there is nothing wrong with that, that is legitimate, the bike glitch IS cheating and shoule be dealt with as such. Cheats are no longer pushing buttons in a certain order, exploiting an accidental glitch deliberately for an advantage is cheating.

(so the swingset glitch is not cheating as it served no advantage)

What I don't understand is people's doubt... Maybe denial they might get their account reset? Rockstar could just be banning 5% of the exploiters to scare the rest, perhaps, and they're going to do an official announcement soon (most likely before word-of-mouth does a little work).

IF this is true then fair enough, glitching to get ahead shouldn't be tollerated.

Besides, Rockstar wouldn't want everybody to be millionaires before cash cards come out

They'll buy CASh CARDS (as won't be bothered to FARM AGAIN)  and they need to re-buy GTA V, I bet. Ingenious as they're morally justified too...

It is denial for some, I think they will ban only the worst offenders.

If you had done it only a few times and gained like 100k from it, no ban, but if you gained like 5m then banned. The reason for this is because at 100k that could all be legit car sales, they can't prove you glitched, whereas the 5m, it is pretty obvious that you used the glitch if it shows 5m in car sales on your social club profile. That is how they will, and should, go about this.

Someone's suggested unlinking your social profile, but won't there be a history of that? Doubt they'd care to investigate that deeply, though...

I think it will still be on there, just the stats will be true as of when you were last linked.

I think the best solution is to temporary ban the obvious glitchers, and take away the money earned from car sales, or reset them, depends how mean R* feel. They are morally justified to do that. I really hope this is true btw, I doubt they will go that far though

You cannot ban somebody for exploiting a glitch that is a flaw in the mechanics of the game... I've glitched in MANY games it's never been done before. All they can do is fix it. They ban for modding and other more serious things like that. And disbalancing the economy?? Are you serious?? If I were to be stupid enough to buy for 1k in cash cards and everybody else would do the same that would seriously disbalance the economy... Please stop posting nonsense just to get the attention it's exhausting.
