I don't even know why Aim Assist targets friends/crew members anyways.

Easy fix for R*, make L2 + B the mele attack. You have to let go of L2 to reload, no complications there, and now we have full control of the attack.
Bumping my suggestion, seems like an easy fix.

If there was a dedicated melee button (like there already is) and the trigger was used strictly for shooting, then I think this would solve the issue.

You would need to make it L2+B/Square or L2+Y/Triangle because B and Y are respectfully already bound.I have an idea! Why not make the melee attack only happen when you press the B/square button? Makes sense right? If I'm holding a gun and aiming it at someone, I expect to shoot them when I pull the trigger. I do not expect to punch the guy standing to my right who is clearly on my team.
If there was a dedicated melee button (like there already is) and the trigger was used strictly for shooting, then I think this would solve the issue.
Its pretty silly as is right now and makes using mele hard to do when you want it and too easy to when you don't.

I've done this 3-4 times to my friend when robbing a store together. I've told him that we should just take turns robbing the stores instead of both of us bursting in and unintentionally killing each other, but the dude doesn't listen. Probably got dropped on his head a few times as a baby.
this issue can be fixed much easier by not trying to shoot the cashier... or the fan behind him or the liguor bottles around it not only causes friendly fire "accidents" it also nets you a 3 star wanted lvl vs a 2 star wanted lvl

I was being a total voyeur watching the criminal antics of people in my lobby and laughed my head off as during a police chase, two guys who were working together meleed each other accidentally thus resulting in failure to evade the police. This should be fixed really

Yeah this "issue" needs to be fixed, just had a five star wanted level with a crew member and we both took the same cover and I accidently melee'd him whilst trying to shoot at the police, also an issue when robbing a store together.

Always happen to f*cking knock my friend out during a robbery it shouldn't be a one hit kill!!
Yeah it's surprising powerful too. It definitely adds to the frustration.

Every time I try to rob a store with my crew this happens...
Story of my first few robberies.
It's why I only rob solo from now on, I've grown weary of shouting, "I DIDN'T MEAN TO!"

Well with the new 1.4 patch at least it's only 500$ now to accidently kill your friends! Lol.

They should make the melee a different button? Perhaps square on ps3 when aimed down sights. I dont remember that button doing anything when shooting. Correct me if I am wrong.
Edit: I guess others have already suggested this, haha, nvm then.

I agree 100% with this post. It was hilarious the first few times but now it is just a major inconvenience.

I've never had this happen, or even seen it happen. In fact I'm a little confused as to how it does happen.
Presumably by melee you mean a gun-whip or punch, but don't they have to be manually triggered? I don't understand how you can 'accidently' melee a friend.
