You can blow up peoples cars if you like you just have to balance it with doing missions with other ppl and you will not get punished. That's only for the people that spend hours in FM chasing players

I really liked the GTA 4 online free-roam better. I like the whole 16 player open-world where you can mod your cars, rob banks, own an apartment, buy clothes etc....  but at the same time I don't like this good sport/bad sport. it just ruins everything... i was in a car battle with someone and we were shooting each other for a few seconds and then I turned to do some maneuver thinking I would kill the guy but then he blew my car up with a sticky bomb. It was annoying but it didn't ruin my day and I just thought "oh well, I'll be able to do that to people once I get higher level". The guy doesn't really deserve a bad sport thingy (I really still don't understand what the huge negative of being a bad sport is...)

I haven't encountered many douches in the freeroam yet, just people doing stuff I would do. If somebody is walking down the street facing me with a gun i'll try and run him over because I don't know if he would shoot me or not.

I know many people hate PVP in freeroam but it feels more GTA and can be fun at times but I wouldn't do it all the time cuz it can get boring easily and unrewarding. I just miss the GTA 4 days of chasing 13-15 year olds in freeroam with a helicopter and hearing them yell at me over the mic without worrying about some stupid punishing system.... It might of been mean, but it was honestly really fun.

I don't understand why R* made a penalty for destroying player's cars in the first place, it's really not that big of a deal. Call the insurance place and go get it back. It's only $400. I can't even count the number I've times I've totaled mine already.

If you have a sh*t car. My 1st car was $440, but now it costs between $4500 - $12,000 to get a high end car back from MMI.

I've blown up over a dozen vehicles and still get my discount at stores for being a good sport along with 1000$ in cash every so often.... I find it hard to believe you'd get bad sport for 1 vehicle. I even blew up about 5 PV's once with a jet while I was hunting down a bounty. I didn't realize he was hiding next to PV's other players had all parked there. So easy to destroy vehicles in the jet.

I'm also newly inducted in to the Hall of Dunce.  Last night my crew and I were goofing around in an invite only lobby and we got a little carried away.  I got my warning and said ok...no more blowing up PV's.  SO I'm doing a suicide by police chase right in front of my apartment (the one in the 400k tower) and i'm at the bottom of the hill.  A chain of cops come down the hill and I send a grenade sailing.  About that time...my buddy in his Monroe comes barreling over the hill and BAM...he's caught in the chain explosion and I'm issued my uniform for the HoD.

It didn't kick me immediately but I signed off about 5 minutes later.  So I'm confused from what I've read...will I not be able to play private rooms now?

Bullsh*t.

You've done more than destroy two personal vehicles to get into bad sport.

The price of insurance depends on how much your car worth initially.

The monroe was the 3rd and it's a 3 strike thing was my understanding.  I've blown up other cars before, yes...but not in the same 24 hour period.  I don't know if there's a clean slate refresh rate or what...but last night...3 cars and I'm Dunce'd.  I'm not complaining...I blew up too many cars.

That said...if i DO want to destroy a car...I mark them with the 2k bounty and THEN drop a sticky.  I recoup half my money and get that satisfaction without the bad sport mark.

did they change this than?

cuz if I recall correctly you get bad sports warning even if there's a bounty on the guy

Close, but I think its a bit worse when you try to join a random job or race and the game mistakenly places you in a closed job and then the occupants kick you before you have a chance to quit and then you get bad sport for leaving the job early.

Fukc you bro, i love the bad sport feature, it keeps the undesireables out of my fun lobbies. Us good sports dont want you antisocial as$holes ruining our creative fun by blowing us up. The way i see it, going to bad sport is like going to prison; nothing more american than rounding up all of society's most dangerous rejects and bundling them up to kill eachother in ruthless carnage while bitching about OTHER people now blowing their cars up. I appriciate the irony.

TL/DR: f*ck you bad sports. Sick of you jealous haters blowing up my space docker. do that and pay 12,000 to replace it for me. Suck it!

Lol I called in and claimed 3 bounties last night on my buddy and got the same $1000 and pat on the back...no Dunce warnings...so I guess they did?  I didn't realize it wasn't allowed at some point.  If i just didn't get the warnings but still got the marks on my record...lol well then yeah...I got a couple extra PV destructions on my record than I thought.

Simple really...

R*

  • Failure to test
  • Failure to FMEA (Failure mode effect analysis).  This is where you test all scenarios against all possible variables.  They probably didn't think of the whole blow up car thing at the outset.  They realised late on - and added it to bad sport as a bodge.
  • Failure to have testers who play the game like gamers do.  You can tell this by the number of glitches and exploits. If a gamer CAN do it they WILL do it.

The SP game is so polished it's a shame that it feels like they banged out the MP at the last minute.

Maybe R* just don't have enough experience in online gaming. Maybe GTA6 Online will be amazing.

I hope they read these forums and take some of the feedback, because the ingredients are there for GTAO to score 100%. At present I give it no more than 75%.

My 2 cents

You pre emptive someones ride, normal bad sport rules apply.

You defend yourself, blow up the aggressors ride in the process,

-pay the insurance, no bad sport.

If someone attacks you first, you should be able to blow up their car without any kind of punishment.

I've gotten three warnings so far for simply being disconnected from an online session. It keeps telling me I'm "quitting missions."

I've got this several times.

I emailed R* and got this pointless message implying my router was to blame! Jeez!!!

Hello hostaman,

We'd like to provide assistance with any Online-related issues with our connection troubleshooting guide:

  1. Check all the physical devices on your network to ensure they are plugged in and powered on.
  2. Perform a connection test on each device connected to the network.
  • For Xbox 360, refer to the following website

http://support.xbox....box-live-wizard

Understanding NAT Types:

NAT Types:
Open
Moderate
Strict

Open NATs can connect to any of the three types. --> Probably the least common type
Moderate can only connect to open and moderate. --> Probably the most common type
Strict can ONLY connect to open.
Strict NATs are a difficult problem with peer-to-peer games. Since most people don't have open NATs, the player with a strict NAT won't be able to find many joinable games.

Also, if the player with a strict NAT does manage to join a game, if another player with a moderate NAT joins later, the player with the strict NAT gets kicked out.

The problem is even worse since it is sometimes difficult for software (i.e. Games for Windows Live) to detect which NAT type it is running behind, and can often report that the player has a moderate NAT when they actually have a strict NAT.

Another problem is that sometimes the ISP (Internet Service Provider) is also NAT'd which often means even if you have a direct connection to the internet (without a router/firewall), the ISP still acts as a strict NAT.

Port Forwarding:

The following ports are beneficial to have open for Online console gaming:

TCP: 53, 80, 443, 465, 983, 1863, 3074, 5223, 10070-10080
UDP: 53, 88, 1863, 3074, 3478-3479, 3658, 10070

If you need assistance with opening these ports, please refer to the following website for more information (you will need to know your router brand and model, as the website guides are based on specific routers)

http://portforward.c...routerindex.htm

Here are some additional tips that have helped many players improve their connectivity:

  1. Make sure your router's firmware is upgraded the latest version (very important).
  2. Unplug your router for 10 minutes and plug it back in. Some older routers degrade in performance over time until it is rebooted, similar to a PC.
  3. Disable any firewall or other network filtering for the game.
  4. Enable uPnP (universal plug and play) on your router.
  5. If you don't care about security, enable DMZ (de-militarized zone) on your router for your PC's address. This turns off all of your router's firewall features for that specific PC.
  6. Get a router that has the "Xbox LIVE compatible" or "Certified for Windows Vista" logo.
  7. Contact your ISP and ask them what your DNS setting should be.

Direct Connection/Power Cycle:

I don't get it. I see people on here all the time saying they blow people cars up and get labeled a bad sport. Just last night someone had an adder blocking one of the exits to lsc. I ram it out of the way and toss a sticky on it as I pass by and blast it. I didn't realize it but there was two people behind me driving past it and I blew all three personal cars up in one shot. Have yet to see the inside of a bs lobby...

Ok, I really do not get something.

I logged in today and some guy was f*cking everybody up with his tank. Didn't matter whether you were in a car or not.
He destroyed about 5, and he wasn't thrown into bad sport. I stopped counting after that so he probably got more than that.
Bad sport is bullsh*t

There's no negative consequence for the player having his car blown up, that's what's annoying. The perpetrator pays the insurance, and all the victim has to do is call insurance and then his mechanic. 5 second job.

It's an utter mindless idea, not sure what Rock* were smoking.

"Bad Sport" should just include glitchers and cheaters, IMO. Blowing up people's cars isn't griefing or unfair, it's just a waste of money for the guy doing the blowing up...

The Bad Sport system is completely stupid. It's GTA, yet I'm not allowed to blow stuff up? That's just stupid; having to pay for part of the insurance is enough, and that's just as stupid.

Just got bad sport for storming a douchebag griefer from a jet.

The machine gun on the jet is insane, it's like a mini-gun shooting grenade launcher bullets.

So worth it.

I've blown up tons of people in their cars, probably 5 or 6 just the other night. Never gotten a bad sport punishment. Been warned pleanty of times. If you're gonna have a bad sport "rule" make sure it only comes into effect after you've been killed by that player once. Then I say fair game. Ain't no such thing as a fair fight.

FMEA???  ROFL  It's a freaking video game, not NASA, or software running life support.  LMAO that you think any game developer has the resources to pull off this kind of testing for a video game.
