Why did they use Cloud?

now can you explain what this cloud is? because I thought it was just servers that sent data out. also why didn't they have data saved on the console so people don't lose data

If the data is saved in the console, it can be easily modified by some hackers and pros.

 

Better to save the data in traditional dedicated servers.

If cloud is the future then the gaming industry is proper f*cked unless devs can make sure servers work and everything

It doesn't save on the console so people can't just edit their character data aka modders/hackers.

 

Cloud is supposedly the future of console gaming. They're going to be using it on PS4 and Xone so I'm assuming that's why R* used it. All I know is character data saved on servers in Max payne 3 multiplayer and none of these issues were present, mainly because they didn't use the cloud.
