1. I liked how I could fist fight with anyone without killing them, having the cops all over me, and seconds later they can get up and limp away

2. When ever I want to toy with my enemies, I could shoot them in the leg, and they would limp... But now even with a bullet from a Heavy Sniper Rifle to the leg won't affect your people. =\

I don't think the people we knock out die. The screen doesn't flash like when you kill someone with a gun. It's just that the paramedics are scripted to announce everyone dead. In 4 they were scripted to revive everyone even if you blow em up with an rpg. They should've made it like if you shoot someone they can't be revived but if you knock someone out they get revived.

I miss the Vigilante system in IV. They finally made it fun and then got rid of it

Even though the screen doesn't flash when you punch someone out, it NEVER does even after kicking the shh out of their body...

1. The inability to wound people by shooting at non-critical areas of their anatomy

2. NPCs killed the moment you punch them as if they've been slapped in the head by the hand of God

3. So many food vendors all over the place and you can't buy a hot dog or a burger from them

4. There are pool tables in the game, but you can't play pool

5. I really enjoyed the bowling and air-hockey in IV and disappointed that these haven't returned

6. There's a casino in Los Santos, but inaccessible, so you can't gamble - roulette, poker, blackjack, slot machines

7. There's a racetrack, which is pointless, because nothing actually happens there

8. It would have been nice if the arcade games could actually work; I enjoyed playing QUB3D in IV and the Space Monkeys (amongst others) video games in SA

9. There are fast-food outlets in Los Santos but you can't enter any of them to buy food to replenish your health

10. Buildings that are enterable during missions, but inaccessible in free roam, such as the Life Invader offices

Rockstar appear to have removed far more little details in this game than they have included which would have made the world seem far more immersive than it is.

I can only hope that IF they ever consider bringing GTA V to the next gen consoles that all these little details will be taken into consideration. It's a beauitifully detailed world, but it seems emptier to me than GTA IV.

I have to agree with you namor, all the details you listed should be in the game.  If they could be included in IV, why not in V?  Maybe because of the size of the map?  R* probably had to "trim the fat" to get the game down to a certain size.  IDK.  That being said, the game is still awesome.

I do miss the visits to Burger Shot & Clucking Bell, especially the banter from the guy who seemed to pop up around times square

'Welcome to burgershot MaaFu*ker'

(Not sure how he got through customer service training)

Miss the posters too 'Battered Rings'  'All Cock No Bull'

Guess the puerile jokes are still there in V, you just can't go in the restaurants.

(Anyone else find the BBQ restaurant called Spit Roasters?)  ;)

In all honesty, I wasn't a huge fan of the pool & bowling games in IV, I'm still getting in to the tennis in V and liking the golf.

So glad they removed the target only melee system from IV, its now possible to run around just punching people again :)

The Cops may be vicious if they catch you, but are imo easier to avoid in V.

The police radio in GTA 5 also sounds so cheesy and unrealistic. In IV it was so believable.

Also in GTA 5 theres literally no police or taxis patrolling the streets. In IV there was tonnes of cops and if you wanted a taxi you'd find one in seconds. In GTA 5 you have to call for a cab and wait like 50 seconds. And there wasn't even that camera view from inside the cab.

In GTA 4 the phone calls actually felt like phone-calls. The sound effects were excellent. In GTA 5 the ringtones sucked and the voice of the person talking to you over the phone was to clear and didn't sound like a phone-call.

I don't mean to put GTA 5 down, it's great, but GTA 4 done so many LITTLE things better.

Funny how you cannot buy a hotdog any more.. And how when you buy food at the gas stations it cost $4 and below and doesn't fill up your health when compared to one $1 soda..

Um.

1) There are still lots of taxis. Just because they no longer make up 90% of the traffic doesn't mean they aren't there.

2) Your cab shows up within five seconds.

3) There is indeed a camera view from inside the cab.

You got the lack of cops patrolling the streets right, but that's about it.

Also, for the people complaining about no food to boost health, you can buy snacks from the convenience stores for that.

Well if there's nothing going on in this vast expanse of land, what's the point of having it? I much prefer San Andreas' smaller map simply because it was chock full of things to do.

Don't get me wrong, I love GTA V. I'm currently playing it for the 4th time. I just don't think Rockstar made the best choices in development.

Considering you only regain 50% health and amount of times health loss that can be inflicted from crashing and such, you'd think there would be more foot places, I find a lot I the time I'm running around with 50% health.

For me the game was rather "old" by the time I actually got to play it because I was doing all of this and much much much much more in GTA:SA:MP on Crazy Bob's CnR server. And get this, their stock market actually worked lol. So for me, I was entering all sorts of buildings, all the time. I was buying houses and even fishing. I was putting hits out on other players while smoking a cuban cigar in my luxury condo on the beach.

I enjoyed GTA V a lot, basically for the updated graphics and some inclusions of things I have been doing for years now on GTA:SA:MP. But I do miss all of the mini games and immersive things you could do in SA and IV. Honeslty, I could have dealt without having the ability to character hop between 3 guys, if they would have included more to do in the game. The game does feel very dull and dead. People have suggested to take a drive through downtown at night, etc. Yeah, um.....no comment. I would rather play a (simulated) game of pool as opposed to staring at a picture of downtown and pretending like I am "there" or some non-sense.

Anyway, this thread is basically what I was trying to explain in mine, I just forgot to mention a lot of things and I am glad that I am not alone in these thoughts about this game.

I was hoping for a little more variety in V as well.  Both games since San Andreas have had less features and less to do than SA offered.

V has a very large map, but most of it isn't utilized.  We've got Los Santos, Blaine County, and a huge gaping hole in the middle of the map that isn't used for much more than scenery.  SA had Los Santos, San Fiero, Blaine County and Las Venturas.  It felt huge because it WAS huge.  The map may have been smaller, but every square inch was utilized, and offered more variety. By contrast, most of V takes place in Los Santos.  Except for some brief moments in the story that force some characters north, there isn't much to do north of Los Santos except hunting and the occasional Strangers side mission.

Call it a hunch, but I feel as though Rockstar is purposely reigning in the activities you can do in each iteration of the game now.  They're going to want to sell DLC and expansion packs, and they're going to want to have things to add in future sequels.

It's lame, but the games speak for themselves.  You just can't DO as many things in IV and V as you could in San Andreas, and that's a real shame.

Um...
You must be playing a different game to me.

1. There is hardly any taxis. I maybe see one every 20 minutes. And you're highly over-exaggerating by saying they made up 90% of traffic in GTA 4. In GTA 4 the taxis were perfect.

2. Average wait time for a cab in GTA 5 is 30-50 seconds. Sometimes the thing doesn't even show up. Seriously 5 seconds????

3. The camera view I was talking about was the one from the back seat of the cab, so um yeah I was also alright about that not being in the game.

4. This isn't a thread about moaning. It's a simple thread about GTA 4 having simple little things GTA 5 doesn't have.

Everything I stated is also pre-patch. But I doubt they fixed these things as I have played a little SP since the patch and there wasn't much different. They probably don't want to fix/change them anyway.

In V every cabbie looks the same.

The cops and wanted levels in V are absurdly annoying.

Taking out cop/ambulance vigilante missions in V

The Music is garbage especially if your a Metal Head.

However there are a few upsides...

Better more entertaining characters.

Tennis!

Getting High

I love Trevor and Franklin's special abilities.

I actually miss the hobos that would come up to Niko and ask for money. Also shoving people down stairs and such.

On another note those preachers while annoying made the city feel more alive as well as those saxophone players.

Generally speaking I think LS while beautiful to look at lacks the character of LC IMO. Sometimes it feels a bit generic like a True Crime game to be honest.

- having the possibility to say something negative or positive to a ped; this was in GTA SA. Now the only thing is 'whats up' or something and the peds start attacking you

One thing that makes a city feel alive is the way pedestrians interact with the environment, and, well, GTA V failed terribly at that. The AI in this game is terrible, stand around for a few seconds and peds either run off scared or call the police on you for no reason. They overreact like crazy, jump a fence and the whole area runs off. Every pedestrian seems to hate you as well. GTA IV did a much better job, peds would help you, and you could make friends with some of them, where they would help you out if you're in trouble. How can I take in the city when every pedestrian hates me? Not to mention how only I can get in trouble...

The lack of interiors really degrades the city, and all of the other small aspects listed in this thread made the game world feel realistic. It's all because Rockstar only care about online. Why put lots of effort into a game when you can hype it up and make just as many sales? That's what they see...

Now you mention it I don't think I've ever seen a ped get in trouble aside from those car chases.

I used to love fightng peds and luring them infront of cops so they'd get arrested and put into a cop car . Haven't seen anything like this in GTA V.

The justice system seems to favour the player like the GTA III era.
