You have complete creative control. Where is it set. And what is it about?

Vice City.

80s again.

Bigger. More music. All that is in V and more for minigames and activities.

Do all of the things that couldn't be done last time.

Nod all the same movies and stuff, nod even more. Go as deep as IV and V in the lore, bring it to a whole new level. It's been long enough, it would be fresh no matter how close it was, due to how new and how much bigger the entire experience would be.

I agree with Brian that it should be Vice City in the 80s.  If you think about it, Miami now is just a bunch of old fat people, no offense to anyone who lives there.  If its not an 80s Vice City, a modern Las Venturas would be great.

I too loved Vice City but if it's not set in the 80s it's gonna be done right.

I think Hong Kong would be a good idea. Modern day, with Music from all over the world. The pro-tag could be a chinese guy seeking to join or destroy the triads.

In the south. We need a new location or else people will always compare it to the PS2 games and nothing will ever live up to nostalgia. It can be New Orleans, Virginia Beach and a city based on Austin or Dallas. There can also be a lot of countryside and trailer parks in between.

I would stick with the heist and robbery theme because it is just so fun but also bring in drug dealing and other illegal ventures. I would also bring back purchasable safehouses. I don't know if it would be one or three protagonists but one of them would be an honest and hardworking guy who gets sick of getting the shaft and turns to crime.

Anywhere city.

Or North Yankton. I want to explore more of the north boarder of us/south boarder of Canada. Snow and winter weather would actually impact the normal gameplay, and not be mission based. New characters, but with the history of V impacting the world and whatnot.

I think that would be sick

If some of the geniuses on this forum were given creative control of any game it would turn out so awful they'd have to dig E.T. out from the desert just so they have enough room to bury all the copies of the game.

Location:  A fictional Florida county comprised of two or so cities (yes Vice would be one) with a few towns and areas between and around them.

Time setting: Modern Day to fit with the HD universe.

Gameplay:

3 characters. One a cop, One a serial killer, one an up and coming criminal. Each has a different free roaming experience.

While playing the Cop you almost never get wanted for taking a vehicle. You can abuse your power, but also may be reprimanded for it with suspension. During suspension you can get wanted for taking a vehicle. You get random calls on your police radio that you can answer. You can be called by your boss to investigate a handful of random crimes from theft to murder with environment examination akin to LA Noire. You can arrest people and hunt down random criminals on the street.

While playing the killer you have a normal everyday job (probably a garbage man to incorporate that in somehow) that you can do when in the appropriate work cars. You can stalk people and prepare your kills and how you kill them, how you dispose of them, and the trophy you take from them. Has a set number of 'canon' kills to make that unlock as the story progresses. Can be suspected for killings but can throw suspicion onto various NPCs.

Last character is basic GTA type character.

Firefighter missions based on GTA IV's Vigilante. A set number of burning buildings you have to go into and rescue people in as well as random fires you can put out.

Triathlons from GTA V

Bowling, Pool, Tennis, and Golf all return since they're already made.

Interiors for friend mechanics. Gear it closer to how IV was but less frequent calls and much less punishment for declining invitations.

Taxi Driving like in GTA V

Horse riding because it was in RDR and should transfer over fine (horses should be limited though)

Animals like Crocodiles, Snakes, a variety of birds, skunks, and cats.

Gun Range and Flight School should return but be altered slightly to reflect the new game.

More purchasable properties with interiors.

Safehouses to purchase or rent out.

Houses to break in and rob.

Surfing, Water skiing, and other activities based on stuff like that.

Fully fledged amusement park including rides.

Plenty of unlocks for the collectibles and the collectibles can be shown on the map if the player chooses (but is off by default).

A full 100% checklist built into the game to track your progress. Activities hidden until doable but once you know of an activity you will know if it is required for 100%.

Random events like in V

Car customization and garages that you can save multiple cars in that you can access at any time you go to the garage if you pay for it.

Various Races including Horse Racing.

No building casinos but two or so boat casinos floating about.

Instead of button-cheats you unlock cheats for a Cheat Mode as you play the game and can start a new game in cheat mode after you unlock the first cheat. Some cheats can be unlocked through button combos, others phone numbers, others collectibles, and others by playing the game. Cheats include the ability to spawn any car in the game, any vehicle, super jumping (up to superman-like levels), full invincibility, big head mode, and more)

Main Mechanic changes:

Vehicle handling put between V and IV.

A limited inventory is added that can be increased as the game goes on. Used to store everything you carry from guns to ammo to healing items. Clothes with pockets may add to your inventory space as well.

Full regenerating health and tweaks to the difficulty to ensure that it is fair (probably in line with Red Dead Redemption)

Weapons taken from you if busted.

Weapons recoverable if paid for if Wasted. (can unlock ability to keep weapons when busted\wasted through some side-thing)

More rewards for stunt jumps/hidden items/side missions.

Cop system has 6 stars with the army at 6 stars.

No multiplayer unless it can be fit in without limiting the main game.

Paid DLC for various clothes and weapons, however anything purchasable can also be unlocked through gameplay (for example a gun you can buy is unlocked by collecting 100 in-game items or something like that) making all DLC optional.

Vice City would be awesome but VC is tiny.

What I suggest is having VC with the surrounding Florida countryside (with small towns dotted around) plus the ability to fly to Las Venturas through the airport.

LV would be a complete city with the surrounding desert region (with small towns dotted around).

LV and VC would each be about 70% the size of Los Santos in GTA V.

Their respective countrysides would be 70% the size of Blaine county.

That way we have a larger overall map plus tons of room for variety.

I really like this idea.

Vice City on next gen and set in the 80s would be a nice breath of fresh air.It should be much much much larger though. Also considering the amount of ram next gen consoles have, the map could easily be twice as large as the one in V.

San Fierro, Oakland and northern California during 1976. You take control of 3 protagonists.
1. A young Asian immigrant (younger Wei Cheng?), who gets caught up in a war between Chinese and Vietnamese gangs.
2. An African American, former boxer, turned pimp. Would be much like a 70's blaxploitation film.
3. An Vietnam veteran, turned biker in a war against the Angels of Death.
Early on, all three of these people meet and decide to use their connections within the criminal underworld to form the biggest drug distribution network in San Andreas.

Would include all that V has, with additional minigames and side missions. Soft body physics. Include all that is exclusive to GTA Online. And will parody a lot of 70's pop culture.

Two mobsters get sent to Las Venturas to get started on a casino. Sort of like the story in Scorsese's Casino. Then they grow apart, and become rivals.

(Okay this took me 2 1/2 hours to type up so sorry if this is TL;DR but it's a very interesting concept so bear with me)

GTA VI

Set in modern day Hawaii (Hell you could reboot vice city in the form of Honolulu if you want, it's very similar to Miami. Just mostly Asians and Polys instead of mostly Latinos.)

Three or four protags story again

-A 20 something part Filipino part Hawaiian local who is in a family of a violent North Shore surfer gang (based of the Da Hui gang) and petty car thief who usually robs stuff from unsuspecting tourists at the beaches. He now lives in Maui with his uncle for causing so much trouble in Oahu when he was younger.

-A troubled late 20s white dude who is an ex Army war vet who was kicked out due to drugs and DUI charges. Stuck on the island of Oahu with no money to travel back to the mainland US (He hated back home anyways) he hooks up with his local drug dealers he used to roll with and enters the life of crime. (Based off an old army buddy of mine.)

- A 35 year old man who has a loving family but is out of a high paying government job, that landed him and his family on this island, due to a massive layover. Struggling with the economy and the high cost of living, he gets way over his head when he gets involed with some crimminals and the choices he makes and crimes he commit just to provide for his family strains their relationship dramatically.

-(if R* wanna take that bold step) A 27 year old Hawaiian female who is a distant relative of the first protag I listed and an affiliate of the surfer gang also. Who was a bartender at a local biker gang bar on the Big Island. A year ago she was beaten and nearly raped by two bikers but fought her way through. She vowes to get revenge on them.

The game has different islands including Oahu, Kauai, Maui, Big Island, Molokai, and Neehau. And each island unlocks as the story progresses.

The terrarin ranges from

-the overcrowded city of Honolulu (along with the HEAVY traffic),

-tourist ridden Waikiki by day and sprawling nightlife, prostitution and drugs by night.

- non mainlander friendly, localized towns like Waianae

-suburbs of Kapolei and rich neighborhoods of Kahala and Hawaiia Kai

-HUGE mountain ranges for hiking, dirt bike riding, BASE jumping , etc. and jungles to explore.

- Beaches galore, with very advanced ocean wave physics ( you bet surfing is in hehe)

-Volcanos active and inactive to explore

-LOTS of Countryside and ranches for horse back riding

-Many many many military bases to explore and raid (you think Ft. Zancudo was hard?)

-Rivers and swamps too.

Activities will include:

-Shooting range
-Street Racing
-Drag Racing
-Jet ski racing
-Watersports such as surfing, bodysurfing, bodyboarding, stand up paddle, kayaking, etc.
-drug dealing and making/growing (pot and meth)
-drug using
-underground gambling
-underground cock fights (chickens, you sick f*cks)
-pimping
-taxi missions
-EMT rescue
-Lifeguarding
-Vigilante
-Clubbing and bar hopping (booty calls are back)
-Pick pocketing
-Pawning
-Burgerlies
-Store robberies
-Two big bank robbery missions
-Street fighting
-Gang wars
-photography
-Spec-Op missions
-Fishing
-Spearfishing
-Diving
-Buisness management
-Property owning and renting out houses.
-Extreme sports like Basejumping, skydiving, wing suits, rock climbing and rappelling.
-Car collecting
-Farm management (you heard me....shoot them mofos stealing your special "crops"! Lol)

Well, it would only make sense to go back to VC so that's where i want it to play out.

More stuff to do, like in V, less focus on MP.

It should play out in the 80's.

I don't think it would be good to go back to Vice City. The reason why we loved Vice City so much was because of the 80's setting. The beach, the soundtrack, Tommy. It wouldn't feel the same having it set in present day.

My vote would go for Las Venturas. It would make sense since it was mentioned a lot in IV. It would have a lot of casinos, strip clubs & landmarks like the Camel's Toe & Come-A-Lot. It's real world counter-part is titled "Sin-City", so I don't think there would be a problem coming up with a crime life feel.

All the people that say vice city and sa have no imagination lmfao.
Redo things that have been done ....what a good basis for a new game.

I would do Dubai like mission impossible type setting. Or little Italy .

Las Vegas will be the DLC option, so that's definitely a no. Boston was originally envisaged until the Marathon Bombings, I bet...Colorado & Texas are currently most GOOD POSSIBILITIES, with New England as a region the most probable.

City: Vice City

Year: 1985

Canon: HD Era. I do NOT want another reboot.

Platforms: PS4/One/PC  with change of current gen?

Theme: Rising to the top and revenge

3 Protagonists:

1. Jared Limbo

18 year old drop out who was kicked out of his parents home and stumbles his way into a crime organization with the mafia, and after saving the dons daughter from being killed, you are given the chance to join the gang as a personal family friend of the Don.

2. Toni Letore

23 year old female, celebrity. She was once the baby sitter of Jared when he was younger. She is pulled into a rival gang due to her boyfriend, Parker Leto.

3. Chicago Washington DeeCee

42 year old male, retired war Veteren. Renamed himself after his favorite places. (Chicago and washington DC.) Is pulled into the underworld after his 17 year old son is brutally beaten by a mafia organization that rendered him unable to walk again.

-------------------------------------------

If no Vice city here is my other wish list for a future GTA:

City: Liberty City, but completely redone and more realistic, with no poorly placed islands. Make it seem real!

Year: 2020

Canon: Reboot

Platforms: PS4/One/PC

Theme: Betrayal

3 Protagonists:

1. Dustin Leoni

25 year old white male with ties to the mafia due to his father, Morimore Leoni. Very ruthless and dangerous, has no remorse for killings. Was betrayed by his friend tyler and wants to track and kill him for tyler killing Dustins mother in a gang related hit.

2. Simone Macramo

22 year old black female, college student at LCU. Plunged into the criminal underworld after a tough upbringing. Becomes acquainted with Dustin after sleeping with him in a one night stand.

3. Logan Felix

25 year old white male, burger shot employee. Childhood friend of Dustin and Tylers, is having a hard time choosing sides and constantly protects tyler due to dustin trying to kill him.

Vice City won't happen, it's too similar with Los Angeles & Las Vegas. It only happened before as they leaped so far in technological capability along with style (e.g. countryside, three cities, ghetto).

A modern HD Vice City would be great, but not set in the 80s. Leave that alone, it was perfect.

Now that I actually live in Florida, originally from up north, I can say that there is a lot they could do with a game set in South Florida. A few things that were missing from Vice, even in the form of reference, that would work wonders. As an example, an explorable Everglades swamp region with dangerous wildlife, sinkholes, murky waters. I would have loved an airboat / fanboat in Vice.

Hey, if half the map needs to be unavailable to the player at the start, can you imagine a next-gen hurricane? I'm sure there would be a way to pull off torrential downpours with excessively high winds because believe me, the weather down here gets crazy. One second sunny and humid, the next second your soaked and a flood warning has gone in effect, and a couple seconds after that its sunny again with a slight breeze coming through, it's nuts but I like it.

Right now, as far as I know, the city of Miami is returning to its heyday of being crime capital of the country. It shouldn't get as bad as the 80s, when the police assembled their own hit squads to deal with the drug cartels, but its getting bad. I recently read an article that revolved around Russian crime syndicates taking over a lot of real estate in South Beach.

Could be an opening to bring Nico Bellic to the next generation of gaming. I actually liked the guy, though he could be bland at times.

But as great as Vice City was, there is a lot culturally that it missed on. In the end, it was heavily inspired by a mixture of Goodfellas and Scarface and didn't hit hard enough on what Miami was truly like in the 80s. It was a real life Grand Theft Auto city with public mass murders happening on a weekly basis.

This trailer doesn't do it justice but anyone with any interest MUST take the time to watch the Cocaine Cowboys documentary.

I realize I start off my post with having Vice set in present day and then I give more support to returning to the 80s but Vice City HD set at any point would work for me.
