Even playing with my crew I'm finding it tedious; I hope it's just because I'm a low rank but the free roam aspect is very uninspiring at times.

There's only so many times you can rob a store, get 4 stars and evade the police.

The tennis and golf are unrealistic and too simplistic (not that I expected much) still better than 'arm wrestling' and 'darts'.

I'm finding the game mechanics of online messy, not really sure if there is any main story line plot or just loads of different characters who give you mundane side tasks at different level ranks.

I'm not a big fan of team deathmatch or races (Especially with the car handling and shooting mechanics on GTA). Which seem to be something R* are pushing as a huge part of the online experience (unfortunately). If I wanted to specifically play either of those I'd go on NFS or COD.

This isn't a whiny thread but more of a genuine question? I've played GTA:O one day so far and whilst I'm not bored yet, I can see I will be in the coming days if it carries on how it has.

For me the DLC and most importantly, how R* execute the heist creator will be a big part of if this game has longevity.

I join my own invite-only games and then go for quick job races and DMs.

Because f*ck being target practice for squeeky-voiced children.

I wear a mask and get 2 stars for robberies, then when I'm out of cop sight I remove my mask and it goes down to one star, which goes away quickly!  For fun I like to be a criminal, missions, robberies etc.  Sometimes I just drive my BF Injection over mountains and hills for the hell of it!  Btw bf makes a great criminal car, fast durable and offroady to lose the cops! I'm usually the only person I see in a bf too!

Another qualm (albeit I guess it'd be realistic) with online is the police situation.

If you knock someone out in an area where another player has 3-4 stars; you automatically catch the attention of 3-4 heli's; swat vans, dozens of cop cars etc.

Surely they would ignore you and the major purgative would take precedence?

Buying clothes, doing missions, robbing shops, exploring the city, gang fights. Dunno, I just like being able to chill in LS.

Sometimes I'll watch other people get chased by the cops on my TV.

I think the problem may be that for over ten years you've been playing games that tell you what to do and where to go at every turn, which has in the end, stolen your imagination.

Plenty of missions and driving round shooting random people.
Also like chasing down the bounty players. Managed to get up to $7000 killing some of them

roam around, rob stores, drive along, races, deathmatches, saving up for that sweet apartment and trying to unlock all car mods etc etc.

Can't wait for the heist pack tho..

Agreed^^  I'm addicted to open world games, I can't go back to structured story paths that never let me have any freedom!!

Not really.

I've got a good imagination but I wouldn't say I want to go roleplay in this world, to the degree of pretending to be a ped or some sh*t.

Like I said, there has to be the tools available to make a sandbox game enjoyable.

I have faith R* will release these tools but as of now - At a lower rank; it's pretty boring. I would do the 'missions' but they all follow a really generic mould 'Drive to point A' 'Kill people there/pick something up' 'Return to point B'.

Rockstar claimed there is like 500 missions online from launch. I think 475 of them are races.

I agree with you OP! I'm already kind of bored. I want to go to the casino, (lets hope this can be unlocked at some point) plan a heist, go skydiving. Create my own content. I think Rockstar locking everything or releasing at a later date is stupid. It feels like a corny COD game. I just want to f*cking play.

I chase people down and shoot them in their cars.

Nothing beats the thrill of starting a fire fight and having the person speed erratically away as you shoot out their tires. I give chase and I tell you what, I am all smiles as I watch the person try to weave and loose me on the freeway.

The best is when they crash into the mountain side and flip the car. I just step out the car and put in an easy head shot as they crawl out the car. I love it when they get upset and challenge me to a 1 v 1.

That's what I do for fun. The pistol is my favorite, it's much more personal than the uzi with the spray and pray, the pistol take more aim and skill. Pop Pop Pop

There was nothing ironic about that post?

I suggest you look up irony.

Minecraft is the ultimate sandbox but the dev's provide you with enough end-game content to create your own world and scenarios.

Whatever I feel like at the time. I like doing parkour, going on rampages in the streets, robbing stores, offroading, evading the police, and the occasional bloodbath with others.

I'd like to do more but I'm with you op. I can only rob stores so many times. And with me an the 3 crew guys ( good friends of mine) I don't do the blue star missions cause it says it takes 2 teams on all those. I don't get cell phone jobs so what's left? I was hoping for more coop but there is none.

How many times I've come across someone like you, only they don't accept the 1v1 because they really suck And know they'd never win.
I was only getting away because I had something to protect. You suck asshole.

I be a creepeh chilling in my house. Watching the tv spectating other players being chased by cops/getting killed >:3. Yeah my character is evil like that. We did our time robbing/killing now we can chill in our 205k house. And look down on the lowly pessiants trying to make a living. jk. but yeah, right now is what i am doing. It is by far the best feature in the game to me. It's so fun to watch police chases and people killing each other. But then again my characters is more of a get away driver/sniper. So i am not ment to be in the thick of things. Just watch tv until i need to get into one of my cars to pick up a friend in need.

I love being chased at high speeds by people. Let's me really put my driving skills to the test. I prefer the actual chase to the following gunfight itself.

Sounds pretty cool; I'm looking forward to seeing that TV feature.

I do follow police chases in my car and often get involved trying to help my fellow gamer.

More often than not the favour is repaid by a bullet in my head or car crushing my body but hey ho!

i agree with OP. for me, other than grinding my rank up to buy cool things this game will get pretty boring pretty quick. its all fetch quests, racing or lame activities. just messing around in the sand box costs way too much money to have fun. paying to retrieve vehicles i already bought!? hell no

Oh no sir I accept 1 v 1 because I play for the thrill and challenge.

If you have a psn we can go at it. Don't worry I don't use my mic so I don't berate people or kill them over and over. To me it's like being on the prowl at a bar. I only need to hit once, then I'm good.

I don't know.

I've noticed two game mechanic quirks which I don't like.

One being the extra 'turbo' you find when you lock onto a ped to hit them, you kind of float/fast forward time to reach them

The second is it's almost programmed that cop cars will somehow find that extra bit of acceleration out of nowhere and be able to ram you and inevitably it will make you (sometimes almost) lose control or conversely; a cop car will be able to throw a huge 4x4 off it's tracks with a relatively weak bump.
