I will admit hair bands were huge in the 80s but that kind of scene sort of died out in the 90s and never came back. V is about modern day Cali and that scene is only alive in nostalgia anymore. It would have made as much as sense as having a disco station in IV since it was huge in NYC back in the 70s. In a game set in modern times it makes sense to have a good deal of modern music and rock just is not what it used to be.

Rock is still strong in LA today. It never died. It's just that the buisnessmen who own the radio towers make sure that their untalented family members are front and center...you know...like Nickleback. The same thing on TV. Over half of amerika is rural, but yet, you see none of those accents anywhere on the news medias or TV(and there are just as many educated/graduates in the same fields as yankees), other than a couple reality shows. Music for the last 15 years has been one big ? to most people. It makes no sense, really, But it's obvious what's been going on and who is holding the door open for each other.

Again, this game is set in Cali, but yet there is no Van Halen in V. VH is the biggest baddest most influential band ever to come from there. Ivan Polvich must be...well...I won't even say it.

I am from the northeast and I have lived here all my life so I don't attempt to speak on what LA is really like. I know enough not to speak on things I know nothing about.

I like a lot of electronic music so despite what they left out I did like what they put in. It could have used another hard rock station though.

I live in the North East too(WV) but I lived in L.A. for a while as well as many other places(I was a ramblin man in my younger days). I know a lot about a lot of places. I know music very well as I'm in the biz. That being said, I have a seriously eclectic taste in music. It's hard to tell what you'll hear me listening to from day to day. -Not into most gangsta rap, though.

A good hard rock station is sorely missed in this game. Good country music is sorely missed in this game. Older top 40 is sorely missed in this game. You can take it from me, music is my life-I know a lot about it.

Best Radio Stations I've heard in a GTA, apart from GTA SA's Radio Los Santos.

Actually I think this is a great soundtrack, I went back to IV recently and I realised how little I liked IV's soundtrack, there are bout 3 good songs on there. V is great. It's varied, and interesting.

Non-Stop Pop is great for the 80s and 90s stuff, the modern stuff is mainly awful.

Los Santos Rock is awesome, particularly for Ogden's Nut Gone Flake and the 80s Rock/ Power Pop on there.

Worldwide FM is great, has a brilliant chilled out vibe.

Soulwax FM is pretty good

West Coast Classics is great, though it's got nothing on SA's Radio Los Santos

Vinewood Boulevard has some good songs

Then the rest aren't amazing but EVERY station has a good song on it somewhere, and I can't say that about GTA IV.

The music content sucks for me as well. I don't like them at all. The rap music are unknown underground wannabe rappers. I can tell they didn't put much effort into the music is because the length of the full soundtrack is 2hrs whereas in GTA IV it was 8hours. Big difference. Take that as you will but I take it they didn't put effort into the game but you can do with that as you will.

I agree. I listen to maybe 10 songs out of the whole soundtrack.

"He's so hood, but this song really ain't good."

IMO, I think they should release a soundtrack DLC or something. Make it free as well, since the first shot was a miss.

I really wish there was a metalcore/melodic death metal station. Bands like In Flames, Lamb of God, As I Lay Dying, All That Remains, Soilwork, Parkway Drive etc... yeah it's not to everyone's taste but neither is gangsta rap or that weird stuff on Flylo FM and Mirror Park. Even a good 90's rock/grunge station wouldn't have been bad either. Where's Kyuss? Where's all the good artists from Radio X? Cruising through the desert to Green Machine would've been class.  And yet the rap fans get two radio stations... I really wish there custom radio. I will say Vinewood Boulevard Radio, Worldwide FM and Space FM are pretty good as well as Channel X but the songs are starting to get really annoying now cuz they just repeat over and over again, which is why I really wish there was custom radio.

I did an article about the radio which can be read here: http://www.gtagaming...o-inconsistency

Basically, the reason it feels rushed ironically is because there was too much time spent developing the game, so the radio kept changing in terms of genre and tracks to the point where it feels like someone at Rockstar just said, OK, STOP, this will have to do, before throwing it on the game before release. Which in turn creates that lack of polish feeling GTA Radio Stations usually have.

It is my least favorite soundtrack of GTA series.
and NOT because there wasnt Metal, but mostly cuz the choices of rock songs was terrible.
GTAIV and Vice City were wayyy better.

Mostly when it comes down to the lack of rock music.
I don't like rap or hiphop, so i usually try to listen to the rock station or look out for some Johhny Cash on the country station.

I would have liked to have heard some Love Fist on the radio, and some more Lazlo on air as well.

There's maybe a little too much experimentalish music, I dont know what you call it, but it's all clicks and beeps, the pop station is sh*t, but Rebel Radio, Lowdown and West Coast Classics are some of the best stations in any GTA game. Still think Vice City had the best ST though, I still listen to that on my ipod.

Ive noticed that, out of my friends, the only ones who really dislike it are the metalheads.

The music in V is really really good, but unlike GTA IV, they went for songs and stations that matched the location more than the theme.

GTA IV's radio stations (especially ones like Radio Broker, Vladivostok FM, and Liberty Rock Radio) all had at least a couple songs that really fit with the story of revenge and regret. Pathos. GTA V's radios are more about the setting, not the theme.

After reading that, I think it goes without saying that this soundtrack could have been alot better. Rockstar should plan out the song choices more carefully next time imo.

The radio is meh to me. It's not good but it's not awful either. If I had to choose the worst station in the game it has to be Radio Los Santos. People like to trash on IV's soundtrack but atleast The Beat had mainstream songs such as Swing Ya Rag, Flashing Lights, and Love Lockdown. Radio Los Santos has zero.

Well I think it's okay. They bring back us country music what I'm very grateful for this.

And still people are not happy with something, so this is better to turn everything off if you don't like.

R* made good choice to add some Indie genre, or even music what's on FlyLoFM or etc.. it's something new what suits this game very well. :)

I love radio los santos and west coast classics, I could drive around LS all day listening to them.

Same here. Being a fan of rap, they are my two fave stations. The talk radio stations are fine but the other music stations I find to be rather ordinary.

I loved Radio Los Santos, West Coast Classics, Channel X and West Coast Talk Radio and Blaine County Radio plus some songs from a couple other stations. I agree that it could have been better as far as songs go, but the lineup was good.
I would prefer more east coast hip hop (classic and modern), more mainstream rap music (Eminem and other big stars), more modern rock, and a more diverse set of stations, really.
An option to create your own station would be cool as well. No annoying (albeit sometimes funny) commercials, no songs you don't like, no breaks, etc. a custom radio station would be pretty dope.
