there is a side mission where you have to destroy 15 for sale signs that is one of the freaks and geeks missions not required for 100%. anyway i loaded up lenny's webisite and the first property i went to has working garage doors. I bet this is one of the purchasable properties for GTA online.

I have now been to five of these houses iand this is the only one with opening garage doors. that tells me there is some reason that this particular house has garage doors that open and I've been through the single player missions and I've never had to use this house

No, everyone starts out being able to buy apartments because they're cheap.

EDIT: You move to LS as a new citizen so you don't have the money for a house right away.

yeah i get that you probably have to buy an apartment at first, but i thought they said as you leveled up you could buy houses and mansions.

i just found something else interesting... across the street from one of the for sale properties is an apartment complex... while it's not enterable, it has clear glass doors (as opposed to the blurry images of most buildings) that show 2 different entryways with mailboxes.

Unfortunately? Why lol. Think of it like this, The view of the city will be awesome. And with that being said the apartments will most likely will tie into a garage system that will lead to the showcase theme that we saw in the Online Trailer. So we'd be right on top of a garage that has way more slots than an average 2 car garage. But being able to buy houses would be cool still- not downing that. I just think the idea of having an flashing apartment 100 stories in the air is awesome.

it would not suprise me if several of these "for sale" properties you have to find are in fact really for sale in GTA:O and this is Rockstar's way of showing them to you.

There are a lot of places I've seen where the inside of a building is textured, like I found a laundromat earlier that had a designed interior almost as if I could go inside.

I thought the epsilon mission was a different house. Iirc the epsilon house garage doors wont open unless you have the car they want. I delivered one once and after i got out and the doors closed, i went and tried to open the doors again and they wouldn't open

I was surfing on the in-game internet last night and I came across a website that had houses for sale in Los Santos.  It had a big list of houses and each house had an icon next to it that said "Click to get Directions".  I clicked on one of the houses that I liked and it said "there has been a marker set on your mini-map".  I checked my mini-map and it sure did put a marker on that location.

I went to the house, following the way point that had been set and it was the house from the add.  I'm wondering why this feature would even be in the game if it weren't going to be used.  I'm thinking that we will someday have the option to buy a house online and actually have that house as our safehouse.  It makes sense.  They could have 20 different interiors that randomly get chosen for houses....and maybe 20 more interiors of big mansions that you could buy.  100 people could own the same house, because they would be instanced into seperately.  This would allow players to have property all over Los Santos, the city and the countryside.  the north side and the south side of Los Santos etc.

I'm betting that our safe houses won't be entered freely like it is in the single player mode.  That couldn't happen because online someone might have the same house/apartment you have.  That's where instancing comes into play.  They could have a marker that you stand in at the front door and you hit a button to enter your own safehouse interior.

Well I happen to find houses more flashy than apartments. Would really love a house like the one in modern warfare 2 map estate.

Nope, remember in the trailer some guy had 5+ cars? I doubt that an apartment can hold THAT much cars.

it's the josh side mission i was doing when i started this thread. you're supposed to destroy 15 for sale signs as trevor. i'm having trouble though as i swear i've destroyed all 15 but it says i only have 14. My feeling is this is R^ way of showing us the houses that will be for sale on GTA:0.

you can definitely buy houses, a lot of the safehouses marked on the blueprint map are houses and the Lenny Avery website only have houses in the Vinewood hills. I don't think they would create a website that gives you directions to houses you can buy for no reasond, when your playing GTA Online and you pull up to one of those houses you'll surely have the option to buy.

Iwouldthink garages like that would be the basement of your apartment building. I'm thinking we'll enter any properties we own like we enter the garages in single player. So they can be instanced easily and friends can choose to enter yours if several people on the same server own the same safehouse.

Buying houses wont be possible.  The only way housing can work in online games is a communal entrance to an apartment block.  How does it work if 1 guy owns THAT mansion and you go into his game, you cant both own the same mansion.

You can only buy apartments, The Penhouse apartments are the ones with the 5 car garages. Also you can only own one property at a time.

Car in a garage he bought elsewhere most likely.

Possible but I think its more lilkey that players will spend money on a house with a garage. Instead of buying them speratley
