They were confirmed to not be in Singleplayer V back in 2012. They might be DLC for GTA ONLINE though.

They are not in this game. They decided to do just a large, highly detailed Los Santos from SA instead with the surrounding countryside. This game is not the whole state of San Andreas.

In this universe, it is the whole state of San Andreas.

No, it's just the southern part of it. This is mentioned a few times.

Then the rest of it must have broken off due to an earthquake or something.

What?
People are getting confused here. GTA V is set in Los Santos and Blaine County. Los Santos and Blaine County are in San Andreas, as San Andreas is a state not a city.

Nope, just the southern part of San Andreas. It's implied through both IV and V that SF and LV are still part of the state.

Yeah they broke off and floated away in two pieces.
But there may be a way to go to the airport and buy tickets to fly to the other islands in DLC.

Do people think that just because the gameworld is an island, that it's the way it is for the characters living in it?

They probably got rid of all the land borders and bridges as they wouldn't want people to think that the other cities are available in GTA V or have some kind of invisible wall. There is no reason that they couldn't just release each city of San Andreas separately either through DLC or the next gen sequels and perhaps have them as separate maps that can only be accessed by plane.

I wouldnt be to suprised if they were to be added trough dlc, or at the very least in online.
Also before anyone goes "Omg, but the game wouldnt be able to handle that many cities". It would take more space on your console, but it wouldn't run any less smooth, this is why we have low lod (level of detail) props for objects that are further away.

You can't really be that dim? (Oh, you were being sarcastic. Sorry, it went straight over my head)
It's an island, because that's the way all GTA maps have been. Do you ask where the rest of America is in every GTA game?

Not true, San Fierro and Las Venturas are definitely mentioned in this universe.

That was always one of my firm beliefs that LV especially was never going to be in GTA V as technically it should be in another state hundreds of miles away.

I'd be interested if R* still consider LV apart of it. SF is obviously in the northern part, but considering the NAIA are much closer to their real life counterparts LV should be in reimagining of Nevade.

That's what I've been thinking too, but I'm recently growing doubtful, as evidenced by the casino next to the Vinewood Racetrack.
Since Nevada's the only state who allows non-Indian owned casinos to operate, then there may still be a part of the "Silver State" in San Andreas.

Does anyone seriously expect another city & countryside (they aren't going to half-ass an HD map)? Don't get me wrong, I'd snap it up in a heartbeat, even for half the price of V Vanilla. However, what would be the point of a new map without a new story, side missons, random events, vehicles, weapons & activities? Now we are talking about a whole new game, which would make EFLC look measly in comparison.

It's certainly what they alluded they were going to add to GTA:O eventually, but I wouldn't expect nothing of the sort until a few years have passed.

SF broke off completely whilst LV sunk leaving a bit of desert behind

SF and LV do exist in this universe.
The only reason why the map appears to be an island is because of technical limitations.
There's nothing more to it really,R* decided to make on big and detailed city+country side rather than three halfassed ones.

From reading your almost indecipherable sentences yes, it seems you are in a coma.

I would be happy with a small story based prequel dlc set in & around Yankton, with some snow vehicles (probably asking a bit too much there). They've already gotten a quarter of the way with the unique assets (apparently there's a second mission set in Yankton but haven't reached it yet).
