DISCLAIMER: This project is to be used strictly for research into the mechanics of the in-game stock market. Any financial gain made in GTA Online is purely coincidental. I do not accept any liability for losses made as a result of using the information in this project. Any investments made are at your own risk.
Here's the big unveil! I had wanted to save this until after the Pisswasser sell-off on Monday so as to allow us to focus on that. This is the first crack at an organization to allow for the planning and execution of future sell-offs. We'll analyze stocks of various companies and try to influence them. What with the imminent release of GTA Online, I thought it prudent to try to get something organized.
Basically, I've spent today consulting various people (including 2405, the creator of the Pisswasser thread) about the possibility of creating a definitive 'GTAForums Insider Trading Hub' thread. He can't join due to personal commitments, but I have invited some of the most passionate people from the Pisswasser thread, most of which have been there from the start, to join together with me to create a management group that will maintain the thread and it's sub-threads.
Currently, users in the management/maintenance team are:
- Krad Owen
We will likely need more members in the management team due to the sheer amount of sub-threads that will be created. If anyone wants to get involved in helping to maintain things and can commit, then please pm me ASAP.
The Layout Plan
Here's a copy of what I sent via PM to Kirsty. This will hopefully give everyone an indication of the layout of the whole project thus far:
Right then, this is where things get complicated. I should warn you, the scope of this is huge, and the numbers might shock you.
I'll type up the post for you to place in the hub topic (it will be quite similar to the original post in my planning thread).
I'll also send a template post for you to place in each analysis and trading sub-topic. You'll just need to add the name of the company and platform where I leave a blank. In the case of the two discussion topics, I will send a separate template post.
I'll just bullet point things to make your life easier:
- If possible, the hub thread would need to be locked (the only problem is I would still need to be able to edit it) and pinned. The only topics that people will communicate in are the sub-topics. This will be entitled 'GTAForums Insider Trading Project Hub'
- There are 39 companies trading on the BAQSAQ stock market. That means that there will need to be two topics for each company (one for each platform), meaning that there will be a total of 78 analysis sub topics. (For example, 'Ammunation Analysis PS3' , 'Ammunation Analysis X360' etc.)
- An extra 78 trading sub-topics will need to be created, but they will have to be locked until such a time when one of my management team sends a private message requesting that you or one of the other mods unlock it for a sell-off to begin. That way they can be easily removed and replaced with another new locked one after the sell-off finishes.(For example, 'Ammunation Trading PS3', 'Ammunation Trading X360')
- There are a further 3 sub-topics that will need to be created. These will be entitled 'BAWSAQ Mechanics Discussion', 'Singleplayer Stock Market Discussion' and 'GTAForums Insider Trading Project Feedback Thread'
- If my maths is correct, this amounts to a grand total of a whopping 159 sub-topics.
I realise how time consuming this would be and I would be more than willing to do this myself, but I've got no idea about how I would go about creating an indexed topic. Also, creating each topic would cause the forum to be overloaded with these project-related threads. If you have any issues with this project now that you have some figures to go on, please let me know ASAP. I hope this cleared things up for you though.
Basically, analysis threads are for looking back at how stock prices have changed. Trading threads are to be used during a planned sell-off (assuming that our Pisswasser sell-off indicates that we can influence the market by investing). The discussion threads are just to generally discuss how the respective markets work.
(The analysis and trading threads will likely end up applying to every company on the stock market, but that will mean a LOT of threads)
Whenever a member of the management team notices an opportunity for a planned sell-off, the OP of the hub thread will be updated with a large red alert so that you don't miss out, along with a link to the trading thread of the corresponding company. This trading thread will be locked after it finishes and the alert and link will be deleted from the OP. Sometimes there may be more than one sell-off occurring at once. When a new sell-off occurs using the same company as before, a new trading thread for that company will be created.
Anyway, let me know what you think. The planning is ongoing amongst us on the team. We'll be taking into account any and all feedback from this thread.
Due to the huge interest in this project, we have created a 'GTAF Inside Traders' crew specifically to promote ourselves in GTA Online. We feel this name is professional and proudly shows that we represent this forum. The joining process is currently invite only so as to avoid a huge influx of members, causing us to hit the 300 player limit, but at this point in time, anyone is more than welcome to join, so long as they are a member of this forum and take an interest in the stock market.
Here is the link if you wish to join:
We've been given the green light from Kirsty (one of the mods) and everything's good to go, so we can begin planning! Unfortunately, there isn't the possibility of a 'Stock Market' sub-forum being created quite yet. It is a major part of the game, but if it's given its own sub-forum, it could set a precedent for the creation of more sub-forums to be created, which is totally unnecessary.
I briefly added a restriction on how much money we would invest. Now though, after a discussion with other users, I have decided to remove this restriction. However, we will still only be running mass sell-offs on a one week basis. This allows us to gain a lot of profit (especially if stock prices rise at the rate that Pisswasser currently is) in a relatively short amount of time.
If there are any problems that arise from this, I will not be held accountable, nor will this project or anyone contributing. I only ask that everyone please be considerate of other players at all times. Please also don't spend your money in a way that enables you to gain a huge advantage over other players. I am a huge promoter of fairness and balance in online games. I don't want lots of people complaining that someone has a distinct advantage over them. I ask that everyone be mindful of this when playing on GTA Online.
