So i was wondering, would it be technically possible to port let's say the Grand Theft Auto V map to Grand Theft Auto IV? Because i've seen it been done before in many games, but i don't think it was done from a newer to older game. Just a though, i would like to see some thoughts on this, since PC users won't be seeing GTA V on pc for a long time..

[Q] Porting maps and speculations
Posted 22 October 2013 - 05:47 PM
I think it's been stipulated time and time again that porting newer games into older ones is a big no no so I can't really see it ever being allowed.

My view is that: we all want GTAV for PC.
Time will reply to us, but it's almost sure that we'll see a PC version, so..
is this effort justified?
Even if some will export the entire map,
you will probably not be able to explore all the map (it shouldn't stay on the IV area size) and all the materials will lack with things that works only on V (Blended terrains with specular reflections for instance).
I think it would be better to create custom unique maps for IV in the meantime, then play GTAV when it will arrive and enjoy the great map without limits.

When GTA V comes out on PC I imagine people will put Liberty City into GTA V, but I don't tihnk it'll happen the other way round.

Yeah, people will port IV to V by then, but the other way around of porting V to IV is not going to happen. In fact, I think it is illegal.
