San Andreas was great for it's time. But muscle/weight gain was useless/boring. Robberies still exist. I think an issue you are overlooking is the hardware we are working with. You make a full city with graphics comparable to other modern games in 2013 with only 512 MB of RAM and an OS constantly running in the background. Just not possible man. What you want is something possible on Next Gen hardware, not what we have today.

Now, that having been said, there are a bunch of cool things in GTA V that weren't in San Andreas. Sky Diving? Wildlife? Scuba Diving? Tennis with actual mechanics? Full golf courses? There are some things not in V that were in San Andreas as well, but I can live without it. GTA Online isn't even out yet, there will be even more content when it does, so just chill out.

...And I actually thought the idiocy and ignorance with some of the people on here would die off after the game came out. Looks like I was in over my head.

Rockstar could give us all that back if they didn't spend so much time concentrating on giving us a beautiful map.

Would I rather have a couple more pointless interiors or a spectacular looking map with detail down to the last tree placement? I'll take the latter.

Anyway, you're overlooking the countless features from V that weren't in San Andreas.

I couldn't agree more and was thinking the exact same thing. All cockstar is worried about is online because that's where they can milk money from. They chose that over single player. GTA IV was two steps back. GTA V isn't much different. Where are the casinos? Where are the restaurants? Where are car hydraulics? Hover lights? They left a lot of stuff out and I really thought they would go all out with V, but boy was I wrong. I figured we'd be able to go into a store and buy things for our safe houses. haha lol

Most. Over hyped. Game. Ever. I'm watching you R*.

HAHAHAHAHA! GTA 4 is better then San Andreas? haha. You are one very stupid person.

IV And vice city are both better than san andreas so gta has not been on the downfall at all.

No, he's not a very stupid person, he is an individual with an opinion that differs from others. Go f*ck yourself.
His opinion is invalid.
His opinion is invalid because you do not agree? What are you? 9 years old? Jesus I hate to see what the world will be like in the next decade with this kind of stupid new generation.

blahblahblahblah. I'm a true GTA fan and I love all of the games. Get over yourself you whiny baby. Just because Rockstar doesn't make a game that lives a 100% up to your expectations, doesn't mean it's a bad game.

GTA IV is a more complete game. It didn't need any of the customization s*** and planes. It was a focused and overall better made game.

GTA V has a few haircuts, tattoos, properties, but has no focus whatsoever. All of them are tacked on to try and shut people up who moaned about it, except they haven't been fully developed. The story itself has not been given anywhere near the attention IV and Red Dead were given.

R* shouldn't have included any of that, because they weren't interested enough. They didn't want to do any of that in IV, so why the F*** would they want to in V?

That's pretty much spot on for me, whilst GTA IV lacked the customization it felt like it had enough to make up for that. The red dead story was amazing, I don't understand how they could revert to such a bad storyline after producing 2 great open world games

I, along with the VAST majority of 'true GTA fans', think that V is absolutely incredible and is now #1 on my list - which, of course, used to belong to San Andreas. Clearly the game of the generation and is clearly better than San Andreas. You wonder why there is hardly anybody supporting the game? We're all playing it and enjoying the f*ck out of it.

Do one.

Most people forget that the old GTA games like San Andreas and Vice City also weren't perfect. Back in the days I played San Andreas on PS2 and it had many bugs and glitches, the graphics sucks and some futures (like eating, gym, girlfriends) wasn't really that fun to do.

Problem with people who dislike GTA V: they let themself overhyped to much before the game releases. They expect a perfect game that has everything and get disappointed when things appear to be different than they thought it would be.

..is an insult to true GTA fans.

Hello.... Is there anybody out there who remembers San Andreas?

You know... the game that had the casino, house burglaries, nitrous oxide, muscle and weight gain, recruitable gang members that could do drive-bys with you, various properties to live in, destruction derbies, bars, restaurants, pool and REPLAYABILITY.

Ring any bells? Then why the f*ck have you given this garbage 10/10?

There is NOTHING innovative and new aside from the character switching system, it's lacking features that were even in GTA games 11 years ago.

Back in 2004, I imagined that by now we'd be able to customise our apartments, create our own gangs, have a story that dynamically changed throughout depending on our choices, be able to go in at least 10% of the buildings, destructible environments, a lot more methods of making money, real interaction with pedestrians that made them feel more human, multiple dialogue choices, a lot more properties to live in, and actually KEEP EVERYTHING THAT WAS IN SAN ANDREAS.

But good old George Lucas.. I mean.. Rockstar, got lazy in 2008, they stripped out a ton of content and thought they could fool people into loving a game almost purely on graphics. Well... turns out they did.

Imagine you had a wife for a few years, with the best personality, fun to be around, Michelin star level of cooking ability, amazing sense of humour, pornstar level in the bedroom; then one day you wake up and she looks like model.

She's never looked so good, but there's something missing.. She sucks at cooking but can still make toast, lost all her sense of humour but occasionally cracks a smile, and it's hard to get a conversation out of her, unless she wants to go bowling.

What the f*ck Rockstar, now almost every game developer has got lazy.
Let's just hope that Naughty Dog make an open world game soon.

EDIT: Please note I am talking about general gameplay, the story and acting was outstanding, I am not denying that GTAV is a good game, but I feel strongly that is a step back from what GTA could have been.

Youre a tard.

GTA Online is gonna have almost everything you said, besides weight gaining.

This is the greatest game ever made and it's gonna turn video games into THE medium for writers. If you doubt me, go check out some of these Jet Pack/UFO threads, its a hysteria of conspiricies of Lost proportions, where everyone gets to experience it first hand.

And you're talking weight gaining!?

f*ck outta here

You do realize that there are a lot of people who prefer Vice City over San Andreas, right? And that game has much less content. Think about that for a minute.

You do realize those people only prefer the game over San Andreas is the 80's vibe it gave out with its great 80's soundtrack.

You do know why SA was everyone favorite game right? It had a little bit of things for everyone. It had 3 cities for you to pick with 3 countrysides.

Assumptions, assumptions, and some more assumptions. You can only speak for yourself and give your opinion.

No he's right, the praise I hear most about VC is the setting, music and Tommy Vercetti.  All 3 of those are opinion based.  SA added everything VC had and more.  Also, a lot of people didn't like playing as a black street gangbanger.

Actually driving in GTA V is FUN. It's quick to

And yes, CJ is a just another retarded gang banger. Because in the end of the game, he's just doing one thing, to kill Big Smoke and then go happily back to Grove street to keep on gang banging.

He did more than any other protag? Say what now?

I'm sorry, but you must of skipped every other GTA besides IV, V, and SA.

Haha, no, I'm not an HD fanboy. My favorite GTA to date is Vice City.

What the f*ck are you talking about I haven't even played GTA III in it's prime?

I played that game the day it came out. Unlike you, when you were still in Grade School.

Oh boy lets call someone a child. Even I have enough respect to not call someone a child.

CJ did more then anyone else. What did Claude do? Get revenge. He helped people and betrayed them. He wasn't even loyal. Even Trevor is loyal.

Tommy did the second most. That's only cause he took over Vice City. CJ took over the whole state of San Andreas

Vic did the third most and became one of the most powerful people sadly he dies.

Tony did everything he could to help Sal

Niko didn't really do sh*t but try to find a guy

Luis really didn't do sh*t

Johnny didn't really do sh*t but destroy the Lost in Liberty City

There's no way you played VC. You said SA had bad gameplay yet it was improved in what Vice City had. A simple flaw you made just proves my point.

Also why people thought SA maps was bigger. Let me tell you why cause I guess you are either too stupid to know or ain't even attempting to know. With SA poor draw distance and 3 cities made the world feel HUGE. What does V really have? 1 city and 3 small towns with sh*t to do in them.

Again you never played III in your prime if you don't see how SA improved from III and VC.

SA deserves everything it gets. It improved and took very little out. IV and V take almost everything out. There was no reason to take out Burger Shot.

SA is overrated. Yes, it's a good game, yes. It was once my favourite game of all time but really Vice City and IV are just way better.

Vice City is a timeless classic, nothing can beat Vice City's nostalgic feel, even GTA V or GTA IV. Yeah it didn't have much depth as San Andreas had but at least it provided more hours of fun. I found myself getting bored of San Andreas quickly unlike Vice or IV.

CJ was way too whiny. And the storyline in SA was for the most part annoying and awful. CJ had only one goal in mind: Revenge for his mom, yet he goes to 'learn to fly' and helps zero 'beat someone who once beat him in a science competition' does that make any sense? Most of the missions, especially the Countryside and San Fierro missions were off. The only good missions were the ghetto LS missions and some of the Las Venturas missions.

Tommy and Niko had only one mindset and they didn't go do anything else like CJ did.

And you're making a moronic piece of criticism, V's map is MUCH bigger than San Andreas. It's obviously more alive than San Andreas. Los Santos and Las Venturas were decent in SA, but San Fierro was boring and had pretty much nothing to do.

And CJ never took over the whole state of San Andreas, he only nearly wiped out the Ballas and Vagos from Los Santos.

And people don't prefer Vice City for the 80's vibe, it was a simple reason, it was a much better game than San Andreas as a whole.

Vice City and IV will and always be the better game than SA for me.

Sorry but it's SA fanboys like you and the OP who can't accept a better game than SA.

@bish0p2004: And the only thing I hear most of the time about SA is that it has a big map.

Pretty much spot on about what I think about San Andreas, it is indeed a good game but has it's flaws.

My major gripe with it was also the storyline, exactly as you said. All was great in Los Santos, then the countryside missions and San Fierro missions were somehow off and I didn't enjoy them so much. In Las Venturas it was getting better again when the Mafia showed up. It felt dragged out for me and could have been shortened.

I just used the weigh feature when necessary, but it was not much fun tapping buttons and seeing CJ pumping iron.

Vice City was far better in this aspects imo, it was smaller and hadn't this feeling of a storyline which was dragged out just to have more content.

From the aspect of gameplay, San Andreas added nice new features and i.e. made gunfights much more enjoyable.

well imo theres not much to offer in single player anyway.  I dont really care about owning businesses because evenetually you own them all.  I dont care about places to live because now we can save on the phone.  I dont care about any of the "fake status" bullsh*t of pretending to be someone im not.  I dont care about the story.

I want the damn multiplayer to be right.  Eventually you beat the game, so who really cares what happens there.  The replayability is in the multiplayer.  And im really hoping they fixed some of the bugs from 4.

OMG if everyone just spawns on 1 guy and free mode turns into a spawn then handgun battle repeat until the end of time im gonna f*ckin freak out.  I want vehicles back in TDM and DM.  Making it walking around only is STUPID in a game called grand theft AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTO!!!!!!   If i wanan run around and shoot ill play a shooter.

So thats all im hoping for.  Single player is the same thing. Your a ciminal, commit crimes, gain status, gain money, then you win.  So who really cares about the "story" or any of that garbage.  I hope they nailed multiplayer down.

CAuse even with its glitches GTA IV was really fun online.  A few minor twaks(and hopefully 32 players for ps4) and it could be something fun.

No point in arguing, everyone has their own opinion, I could say that pong is a better game than san andreas and has more replayibility and genuinly believe that, and i would be right in my mind.

But like people have said alot of people have nostalgia goggles on and if they had played this gta back when SA was out and SA now, they would most liklely think V was the better game.

My opinion however is that V is the better game, and will ultimatley blow SA out of the water when the online is released.

What do you mean? Even without online GTA V has already blown it out of the water (GTA IV did too), but I should rephrase it. Not only has GTA V blown it out of the water it's now floating earth's orbit as piece of space debris.

GTA V, makes a lot things better than previous GTAs.

But at the same time there is a lot things that it doesn't:

Jetpack - SA

Burger Shot etc. - VC, SA, IV

Playing pool - SA, IV

Bowling - IV

Leave engine running - III, VC, SA, IV (also possible turn off)

First Person view in taxi when passenger - IV

Many cars (Stallion, Blista COMPACT, Turismo, Admiral, etc) III, VC, SA (all), IV (all)

Many vehicles (combine harvester etc) - SA

Many weapons (flame thrower, katana, etc) - III, VC, SA (personally I say V has good weapon list)

Arcade games in buildings - SA, IV

Playing game console inside the game - SA

Hot dog stand - IV
Car damage modeling - IV (Some don't care, some do)

"The City Guide" - III, VC, SA, IV (in V, digital only)

Dancing etc - IV (BOGT)

Open/Working Casino - SA

Horse Race (pools?) - SA

Possible drive trains - SA

Vigilante missions - III, VC, SA, IV

Netcafe - IV

Buying Houses (save houses) - SA

Gym - SA

"Driving school" - SA

More choices for clothes, hair etc - SA

Hydraulics for cars - III, VC, SA

Drunk physics - IV (in V it seems to be just 100% animation and not possible to fall so easy)

Drunk duration - IV

Cops - IV (some say it's good, some say it's bad)

Car spawning (I say it's not working well in V, same cars all the time) - III, VC, SA, IV

Again: There is many new, nice and amazing things in GTA V. But also there is many things missing from previous GTAs.

And sorry about my English skills.

No, It's an insult to San Andreas fanboys.

San Andreas is a great game, I would of loved some of those features to be in V. For example House Burglaries, Casinos, and a number of other fun things, but that doesn't mean GTA V is a bad game. Its great. Its leaps and bounds ahead of San Andreas.

A San Andreas remake would be so boring. As I said, Im disappointed that some features from SA are missing, but GTA V looks like it nay be my favorite GTA game of all time.

To be honest there's absolutely nothing else from SA I miss. The one thing I wanted from SA that wasn't in GTA IV was car customising and it's a huge improvement over what was in SA.

Everything that was in SA, but now in GTA V is leaps and bounds better and the rest that hasn't been brought back is IMO expendable.

I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who can't enjoy V. I for one, am having an absolute blast with this game. Every GTA just gets better than the last imo:

III - introduction of open world

Vice City - bright lights, bikes + helicopters, great setting and soundtrack

San Andreas - multiple cities, introduction of countryside, many activities

IV - great graphics, fun physics, great story and characters

V - huge map, and a mixture of elements from previous GTA's
