I heard somewhere that 32 players is going to be in for current gen. Maybe the tester can confirm or deny this with a winky smiley.

It's laughable at all the people getting bat-sh*t crazy over this.

We'll see what happens, but Damn Mac, if you're right... then Online is going to be amazing.

The Benz quoted an interesting comment with his interview with CVG.

Question: So, you could, in theory, have launched at the same time?

Answer: We could, but we want it to be known as a different entity, a separate thing, and it'll grow on its own. It'll be GTA Online; it's not part of GTA V. Obviously it's set in the GTA V engine, but it's going to grow and evolve into its own thing.

I believe Mac is telling the truth, even without evidence, everything he says is still plausible.

If no one has seen the exclusive CVG interview where they discuss Online with Leslie - Here it is

Will there be some kind of theater mode implemented in the game? Like a video editor? Maybe the next gen consoles will have this feature.

And how much better will GTA V be for next gen consoles? I'm hoping 32-64 people online...

Negative, green Ranger. Only Snapmatic will be available at first.

I've already said too much about next gen consoles. All I can say is that people always think the whole 16 players thing is because of current gen console hardware limitations. Well, they're both right and wrong. It is true that the more players on a server then the more latency there is. But R* can't control your Internet speed. The trick is to make all the important stuff client sided, so that only small amounts of data need to be sent from server to client in order to trigger events that you actually see on screen. Once developers perfect this, you could see GTAO updates in the future that allow for more than 16 players.

In the future, server size will be based on total latency, preventing ADSL players from joining a server occupied by people with cable or fiber connections. Servers with people who have fast and persistent cloud connections will allow more players.

If and only IF this stuff is true the game is going to be VERY time consuming and intense. Hopefully if you won a business you can hire mercs to protect so if you're not online someone can't attack it

True story, bro.

I don't expect anyone to believe. I don't expect anyone to believe places like IGN either. But you do. Ultimately the only people you should ever believe are the developers themselves.

Not how it works man, the only people who you should trust to protect a business is your crew. But it doesn't work like how you're envisioning it.

Businesses won't be physical locations, at least not at first. There are ways to ruin businesses, but they are done via actions, not by physically burning down a building or anything.

If you own a business and are offline, all that will happen to it is that people can still trade it's stock on Social Club.

No one can actually take a business from you. They can just hurt it and cost you money depending on certain things they do in the world. You can, however, sell your business just like the real world. The more your business is worth in the market, then the more you can make from it, and then use that money to invest in new ventures.

GTAO is literally it's own separate game. For the most part, it has nothing to do with the SP game other than it being the same world.

The SP follows the lives of the 3 main characters and their stories. In GTAO, you make your own story. You are the main character and the world is constantly changing and evolving.

With the current technology, R* has the ability to simulate real world events at any time. So while playing the game, you could be directly impacted by a stock market crash, natural disaster, or anything else.

They can even program the AI to do new things at random.

That kinda sucks. I was expecting a replay editor for this game or maybe as a DLC. PC had it down to perfection and a lot of games are introducing this feature.

Here is what I honestly think about this thread.  Either,

A) You know what you're talking about and are giving us good info.

Or

B) You're smart and are speculating on things you've seen in game.

Both of these i'm fine with.

Several of your points I can agree with simply because for a game this size there are some interesting features that seem to be almost unfinished in the game.  Fleeca banks are enterable as well as a few other stores, they contain vaults and rooms with no way to enter or destroy them.  Several areas in the game are empty, horsetracks and the casino come to mind.  Not to mention the activity of arm wrestling shown in the GTA:Online reveal.  All of these are POSSIBLE hints at things to come for GTA:Online.  Could the for sale signs throughout the game be hints at what will be in GTA:Online?  It's possible.  Could it be to make the world seem more realistic?  Also possible.  Your points do seem like a few things that could be implemented into the multiplayer mode (and in fact I hope they do.)  I'm taking your post with a grain of salt as I would with any random user on the internet.  If these claims are true, would be f*cking great.  Could these claims also be made by anybody who plays GTA single player with an open eye?  I think so.  October 1st can't come quicker!

There will never be a video "editor." Even IF they updated Snapmatic to let you use your phone to record video clips, that's TERABYTES worth of store they need to compensate for.

The reason you can do it on PC is because you can store it and edit it locally, and the hardware supports it better.

Depending on the game engine, older games supported "scripted event replay." GTAO may have this eventually, but still doubtful.

Basically, SER replays were not actual recordings. To save on space and make the process of recording faster, when you used SER to record your actions in game and then play them back later, all you were recording was a "script" of your movements and actions. Nothing more than a megabytes worth of code. Once you were done recording, the game just reenacts the script you recorded with your character. But it was never a perfect 1:1 copy, or even a digital recording for that matter.

I really hope they have servers for people who want to play without all the radar blips and with the auto-aim switched off etc. I hope it has proximity chat too. (seems like it will have)

I also really hope we can get some repeatable robberies going on at Elysian island. There's a massive industrial area in the whole south portion of the city, but it's largely dormant after the story ends.

I have only one question for Mac...will it be possible for Rockstar to increase the player limit for the current gen consoles above 16? I'm not asking if they will or if it's a good idea or if the engine or the console can handle it....I just want to know if it will be possible for them to do it post-launch and alter the engine/framework whatever? Or is the 16 player limit set in stone never to be changed because of limitations on changing the limit, rather than handling the limit, if you understand what I'm trying to say?

Basically I'm not asking if 24/32/64 players is possible on these consoles (it is) or if Rockstar is planning to increase the limit, but say they did decide to change it post launch, would that be possible? or would releasing it with a 16 player limit mean no changes can be made after?

Aside from the Cops n Crooks mode, will players be able to play on the opposite side of the law? There are a lot of rumours about this.

Excluding any future DLC's, you will be able to do bounties similar to those in RDR.

So, as far as RP goes, you could technically take the role of a bounty hunter although this is not technically a "class" you can assume and be known for.

Also, bail bonds is a confirmed business type in GTAO. You be able to own a bail bonds business. If you own this type of business then you and your crew will be able to go on bounty hunt property missions to track down NPC fugitives that jumped bail.

In short, yes it is completely possible to have more than 16 players on current gen consoles. The reason we don't have it now is due mostly to software limitations, not hardware.

If GTAO were to ever update to include more than 16 players on a server then it would require a downloadable update because both server and client side code would need to be changed.

No on believes Mac, I don't blame anyone either. But the hints have been given out. GTA:O is a separate game based in GTAV's time. The fact that Leslie said its a whole different entity, gave enough hint that it will grow.

Biggest load of bullsh*t on these forums until OP posts legit sources for each individual claim. Interpreting IGN preview as you see fit is not a fact, it's that hype train bullsh*t that resulted for the initial disappointment some people experienced with sp.
