I think the only people really complaining about this scene are the dumbass parents who let their kids play the game.

There, i said it. :monocle:

Im with Vega. The people who start the media frenzy about violent games are the irresponsible parents buying 8 year old little timmy the games in the first place.

Instead of buckling under the pressure of a crying child who wants the game, be a f*cking parent and know that the game is 18 for a reason

The torture they used in this game was mild compared to what goes on in the real world. People get dismembered, burned alive, slashed open, disemboweled, all kinds of f*cked up sh*t. All the people complaining have yet to witness anything truely gruesome.

People have to start growing some balls and stop crying over every little thing.. This world has become so soft and full of complaints.. Just deal with it.. As for the whole "What if a little kid sees", well that's too damn bad. The little kid shouldn't be playing GTA in the first place and secondly the parents of that child are stupid.

Also if you are not mental or crazy this game will not have an effect on you no matter what age you are. On the news they always blame GTA or some game because someone went on a shooting spree, however it's because of they are mentally retarded and need help because they are batsh*t crazy. The only news network that blames mental illness instead of video games is Fox.

it was very funny mission, now i think they exagerrated on the guy pleading for his family and stuff, still didnt care, great mission.

What is shown is NOTHING compared to what reality is like many people have said, bitching about the scene is just stupid.

I loved it lol. I just done it slowly although it wouldn't affect him like that, but I wanted to get the satisfaction, especially with the electric shock one. His nipples looked like a rotten tomato :D

The purpose of that whole mission was to promote an anti-torture stance. We all iced a guy who may or may not have been a terrorist based on vague descriptions obtained via a humourless and joyless torture session. All in the grimy name of "the war on terror." That mission was one big protest against torture and we all took part.

Amen, you were paying attention.

The scene to me was no different than any action movie that has been made that included torture. Has there been an action movie that didn't have it? James Bond had his nut sacks, well you remember that.

We were just active participants.

My reaction at the time playing it: "They should've let me do more..."

Now I'm seeing this thread and thinking - maybe I'm a bad person.

I thought it was a lot of fun! I think some people are just too sensitive.

A lot of pussies and kids here. This is a game for f*cks sake. NOT REAL LIFE. GTA isn't for you if you can't handle killing pedestrians and torturing PIXELS in a game.

I've seen movies that are far worse. Reservoir Dogs, Robocop, Casino all have scenes of torture which are far more graphic than anything in this game...

The scene did make me feel uncomfortable, even though I'm OK with the killing.

Torture is much worse than killing, comparable to rape. It leaves massive psychological trauma that can't be fixed and slowly kills you.

The worst part is that the guy was f*cking innocent, I wouldn't have cared if he was a terrorist or something.

I think the whole point of the scene was to shock people, and open their eyes on the kind of stuff the government actually does.

I enjoyed it.

Its just a game after all. I don't get heavy or serious emotions when it comes to playing a game since its all fake in way. Just emotions of rage when I get my ass handed :D xD.

I didn't enjoy it but I wouldn't go as far as to say it offended me. I think it has a right to be in the game and shouldn't be removed. However it would have been nice to have the option to participate in it or not.

I actually didn't want to do it for those A-holes FIB agents. Wanted to shoot them trough the head real quick.

Don't tell me GTA isn't the game for me. I've been a fan of the franchise since III and love the games for many reasons. At no point in the game does it say you should go around killing innocents. It's not what GTA is about so it should make me no less of a GTA fan for not doing it. I wish they would make it so guns don't shoot when you aim at peds but then they'd probably lose many of the 12 year old fan base that enjoys killing innocents, so it wouldn't make sense from a business perspective.

eing killed on GTA? If you don't like the fact that you can kill, basically, whoever you want to, t

I'm not twelve and I kill innocent civilians, does that make me a bad person? No.

Yes?

Jesus Christ, why do you play GTA if you can't handle the fact you can kill whoever and whenever.

Can't you read? I just told you that killing innocents is not part of the game.

I've killed lots of innocents with my rhino tank. I love to burn cars (with innocents inside them) with my gasoline. I enjoyed that torture scene. HOW ABOUT THAT.

It's part of the game for f*cks sake, you can do whatever you want. It's called sandbox.

I loved that mission ,can't wait to replay it. What's so over the top ,as usually ,look at the game rating . That's the same as watching horror movie ,you know it's gonna be bad but you still do it. Breaking leg, electrocuting him and pulling out tooth + waterboard ,nothing crazy + that ambient score in background ..ahhh ,nice.

From all I'd read I'd expected it to be utterly brutal. It really wasn't.

The stuff we were expected to do continually throughout Manhunt, a game released 10 years ago, pushed those particular boundaries back WAY further.

This was pretty vanilla by comparison, IMO. And one of the lowest points in the game, for me. Unnecessary, to say the least.

I find the irony amusing in that people are more upset by simulated torture in a video game than the fact it actually occurs in real life. Its all in the plan until its in a video game, especially in a Grand theft auto and ONLY then is it some sort of heinous act.

There's films like saw and human centapide, this is mild compared to them.
I also remember films where guys get drilled in the knees and other get teeth knocked out with hammer and chisel.
If you don't lIke violence, don't buy 18 rated film/games.

It's an interesting question.  I can honestly say I didn't enjoy it, in fact i wish i didn't have to take part in it to advance.  But why?  As others have mentioned you commit the ultimate act of killing innumerable  times so why should this bother me?

It's a similar question to why people went mental at the prospect of Lara Croft being potentially raped in the Tomb Raider reboot and the Hotline Miami 2 rape.

yes but it could have been better like stabbing. I just wondered why they tortured him in the first place. He was going to tell everything...
