I was in the military reality is most soldiers would be in the barracks getting drunk n playing with thier ding dongs. If you did run into a base like that it would take them awhile to react as the weapons are locked in a Armory and the ammo is halfway across the vase at the base at the ammo supply point.Realisticly the only thing you would have to worry about are the gate guards and the military police!! Believe it or not also but most military bases don't have anti aircraft defense systems either,if they do I never saw em.

You were obviously some sh*t head clerk. Every military base has their units on a rotation. Each unit will have a time period of a month to three months where they are on QRF for the Military Base. That means the Armorer is always on call...And at least a Platoon has their gear ready to go. Weapons draws dont take that long and ammo for this QRF is always easily available to them. On real bases. Like you said. Theyve got MPs constantly patrolling the base with Civilian Police Officers to fill in the gaps. Theyve got someone at the front gate constantly armed and at times theyll have actual units send soldiers down to the gates to reinforce them..Either for training or for whatever perceived threat there may be. As for aerial threats, again theyre tracking everything flying within a reasonable distance to the base. Every base Ive been assigned to had air force F-16 squadrons making rotations at its airfield.  And of course a f*cking desk jockey wouldnt have ever seen the anti air point defense systems. Its not like theyd have them parked next to peoples houses. But if you think that a military base would not have a ground to air defense system in place...It must of been you drunk in the barracks..

All I have to say is the missiles are fired way to low. Where talking at less the the height of the fence/gate on the base. When I go to the base in a chopper I pop up then hide behind the gate for the first rocket. I see the rocket pass the hangers, trees, then crash in to the gate I'm behide. The fence can take the hit... Unrealistic you can't shoot AA like a bullet it must go up to find the heat of/or airplane. I don't think a sgt. Would Say "there a chopper out there shoot through the trees with this bomb pass the very hangers, men, and fence of the very base there trying to protect. I mean it like throwing a brick from a 4th story window to stop the robber from getting in your car not the smarts 2 second thought.. I mean it you'd like to pay for the damage YOU cause then by all means throw 18 bricks in a blanket at once. ^^ me and my friend both laugh at the way the base is protected. They sit on a base all day waiting for..... Jesus we like to say. Seriously why have a base that has no value. No story involvement, special weapons, or use of any kind other then throwing rockets..... I like to think it's North Korea has missiles no target so they love shooting them. (Haven't betting the game I'd like to see a mission near in around the base)

To a degree he's right. There aren't going to be fixed SAM emplacements. On the other hand, what the QRF will probably have handy are a number of man-portable stinger missiles. The average soldier wouldn't necessarily even see these things. Of course, it would be silly to figure that they weren't readily available--Especially since 9-11. I served with Patriot for the first half of my enlistment, and even though we had this very fine, high fidelity system (for the OP, we could track BIRDS, let alone a PERSON under a parachute, if we wanted), we still had a few stingers in our armory. It wouldn't surprise if the rest of the Army had a few stingers as well. While I never saw AF fighters at Bliss, there are several AFBs pretty close to Bliss, so the response times would be short, and with our own AA abilities... Fighters wouldn't have to be on hand--Bliss was home to Air Defense while I was stationed there. That's probably changed as ADA (Air Defense Artillery--Kind of a weird name as we don't have any guns to use against aircraft anymore....) has moved to Ft. Sill, but that was after I changed duty stations to Hawaii.

Short story though, you won't get onto a military base by parachuting onto it. I take that back. You can, you just won't be a free person when you land. You certainly won't be stealing anything.

You understand that just because the narrator said it was a military installation doesnt mean that its true. Most people would call a National Guard Depot a Military Installation, and theyd be right, the difference is the level of security and the accessibility of what they can get ahold of.

If I remember correctly that Tank was a decomissioned tank...No arms in it and the only thing you could do with it was smash some cars by driving it down a street. So you still arent getting your point across..

You Sir, don't know how the systems you're talking about works.  I don't have to point a Stinger at the sky to acquire a target. I just need a heat source that the seeker can lock onto. For instance, the turbo-shaft engine(s) on a helicopter....Unless, they used a different system... Like maybe a TOW missile? The unrealistic part is the fence stopping the round.

As for the reason for its existence.... I'm guessing you haven't finished the storyline yet. In one of the missions, you need MILITARY equipment. In another you see TANKS trying to stop you. If there wasn't a MILITARY base nearby, where do you think they'd come from? I don't know of any police force that has TANKS, do you?

Interestingly enough I made my first attempt to get into the base the other night and I thought if I bought the heavy body armor, and tried to sneak in at night time I would get in...Nope! I tazed the first guy at the entrance (I tried to sneak in through the front gate...hiding in plain sight seemed logical) and the second he dropped the alarms went off. I gunned down a few soldiers and took about five steps through the front gate and was blown to sh*t. Did I complain about it? Do I think they need to tone it down? No, I had a fun time regardless and started thinking of new ways to get in. Grow a pair kid...this isn't a game that has a difficulty setting because it might be challenging.

Helicopters and landing isn't the way you want to go. For getting in there and stealing sh*t, me and a few mates have been using tricked out comets and such. If you just fire into there, get what you need and gun it out, you can totally escape with a jet or whatever.

Not only is this an extremely rare incident and the ammunition was stored separately from the vehicles (making the guns useless), but he was only able to get in because the armory employees were working late and the gate was thus unlocked and the vehicle lot deserted. He still needed a crowbar to get in. It took a large amount of mistakes on the part of the armory security and a hell of a lot of luck in order for a single person to steal a single tank with no ammunition at a certain time on a certain day.

It would b nice if you could stop near the front gate and get an armed escort throughout the base just to see the base. or maybe a bus tour or something. other than that....the base is always fun to break into.

Its underpowered, i doubt i could drive into a military base in a taxi in real life and leave with a fighter jet.

Yeah, because a paramilitary fort (with better funding then the actual army)  wouldnt have fast response times ? :p

I doubt a real life military base would be able to respond in 5 seconds with an instant kill or be able to have 5 tanks ready to blow you the f*ck up as soon as you land and besides why are they even loaded in the first place? This doesn't seem realistic to me.

I Doubt you know what the f*ck youre talking about.

1.) If youre flying into the military bases air space..your damn right theyre tracking you.

2.) If theyre tracking you...then seems to me theyd have plenty of time to get those tanks on standby to blow your sorry ass away.

3.) Being that your ass flies over the base and into it actually proves why they WOULD have to keep anti air missiles loaded....Youve obviously never been to Washington DC. Theres Patriot Missiles parked all over the place in the capital.

Very realistic...youre just too damn stupid to figure out a way to get in and get what you want so youre here bitching about it.

One of my NCOs was part of a sentinel radar platoon that was in DC a few years after 9-11.  I didn't know about the Patriots though... (would have been nice to have in in one of those batteries! :p )

I am no COD noob I understand how a military base works, but the fact that they give 5 seconds before they start shooting missiles even when trying to outrun them after they tell you to leave the airspace they still shoot you down anyways which makes me wonder why they even tell you leave.... But I do agree the military base is underpowered considering there is a HUGE HUGE lack of soldiers in the base, but what I don't understand is why in the world would you have tanks patrolling the base with loaded cannons as if the military was doing an exercise 24/7. I've seen and been to Military bases, but what I haven't seen is tanks 24/7 patrolling with loaded shells and ready to fire.

That is totally unrealistic and next to some degree the base is underpowered and just because COD has tons of sh*t involving guns and military doesn't mean it is from that game that is like if I called someone who wanted a specific golf celebrity in a golf game and called them a GTA V noob.

I seriously think that Fort Zancudo should be nerfed first starting with the ridicoules overpowered 5 second response missiles that just pisses me off the most. Everytime I try to land in their base I get shot by a damn missile while parachuting O.O and next the amount of tanks actually patrolling the base seems unrealistic :/

have u tried walking onto it with the police officer uniform on?  it worked in VC...

Easiest way I've found is to do a HALO jump into the base. Fly at max altitude, bail out, dive in and pull the cord at last minute, glide to the vehicle of choice (fighter only so far for me, anyone managed to get a Titan or Buzzard out and lived?) and bingo. Might not work at a real base.

If you'll are desperate for military grade hardware, buy the vehicles in game. However wait until they fix the vanishing car bug before you do.

You did see the video cameras all round the perimeter and inside the base...if you don't take those out before tazing someone obviously they would raise the alarm. I did manage to sneak over a wall in the southern side and had a couple seconds delay...thinking I missed shooting out a camera but only had to shoot 10 guards to get a chopper.

... It's a military base. If you're not expecting an armed response for breaking into a heavily fortified military base, then you probably need to reevaluate your definition of what the military is.
