or will owning a car require you to buy it. i would hope in a game called "Grand Theft Auto Online" that you can still steal cars.

i know they said you can't steal other online players locked cars, i'm more referring to AI cars or parked cars not owned by real players.

Of course, they wouldn't disable that. I bet you can even steal player owned cars if the door's not locked. That's why you'll wanna be safe and lock your car and also get insurance. If not, then you Better Call Saul

I think it's safe to say you can steal cars and make them up...I mean, it'd really take the "Grand Theft Auto" out of "Grand Theft Auto Online" if they didn't.

Personally I don't think you'll be able to save a vehicle another player owns, that would prob end up crashing the economy of the game, as rich players would just give away vehicles etc.

As for stealing cars on the street most likely, but like the singleplayer im gueesing alot of cars won't be availible on the streets.

I reckon you will be able to steal and mod cars off a npc, but not be able to insure it. So it will be a bit of a risk doing up a stolen car. Because there would be no real reason to buy cars if you can just steal one. Only cars you brought can be insured Im hoping.

It's been said you can lock your car? Doesn't make any sense to me as you can smash windows easily enough in so. Think you guys may be over hyping aspects of the online game.

You can likely steal any car with locked cars being more challenging and altering the owner. Then ate your stone vehicle recolor it and swap the license plate to keep it as yours and insure t!

Agreed. I'm hoping the rules will be as follows:

1) You can purchase cars and they become yours.

2) You can additionally insure the car (at time of purchase) for extra cost.

3) You can "lock" a car you own and other players then cannot steal it.

4) An owned, unlocked car can be stolen.

5) If an owned, insured car is destroyed, it will respawn at your garage.

6) If an owned, uninsured car is destroyed, it is lost.

7) If you steal a car, you cannot lock or insure it.

Only 7 days to find out though! :)

Hasn't it been confirmed that although you can steal cars, your in house mechanic won't do anything with any stolen vehicles? So you can't store them, etc.. perhaps. I know that meant they won't keep them maintained and repaired, but I imagine Rockstar actually wants player to use money to purchase vehicles in Online rather than who can steal the best.

I don't think stolen vehicles can be insured either.

They said "some" stolen vehicles, so I reckon if you steal a car from another player and that player has insurance then you can't make it your own. You will probably lose it when you ruin it or exit the game. The player who has had that car stolen will just be able to get it replaced.  Insured vehicles that are stolen may also attract permanent heat off the cops too, but I'm speculating there.

NPC cars that you steal would be fair game of course, but could the cars you see in the gameworld be levelled? There's also bound to be mission giving NPCs that will task you with stealing certain cars for them, and you could be rewarded with cars as you progress, so I'm going to be wary of spending all my money modding the first cars I have room in the garage for.

If I can't keep the cars I steel and possibly have the owner steel it back, I destroy it.
