...I know what you're thinking, yet another not really original fantasy topic, that you see appear here on a daily basis, but i'm curious to know what people will choose the most, so i'm creating this poll! My choice would be "Las Venturas" to be honest, simply for the fact that gambling is one of my favorite mini-games of all free roam games, not only GTA! So your choice would be...? Vote and post your comments! Note: I didn't include "All of them" option, since thats what everyone would vote for!

If you mean a game in V era, I like it to be set in San Fierro, a huge one, with its real size.

but VI is probably VC

I really hope it's Vice City. It just sounds right. It's just one city and Rockstar can finally bring it into the HD universe. We've had LC and LS. I know there is LV and SF but I don't think Rockstar will go back to the San Andreas state after V for a long time. Maybe it was just me but a few times in V they've mentioned that the whole map is San Andreas so I don't know if they've changed it up a bit:

Pre-V San Andreas = LS/SF/LV

Post-V San Andreas = LS/BC

I'm not sure about this though.

My vote is on Vice City. I'd love to see a full HD remake of it.

New city (inside the US), or Las Venturas, if I had to choose between the previous GTA cities.

I think the most logical place would be Carcer City, or a place based on Detroit, Chicago and other "Rust Belt" US cities.

The massive degeneration, the death of American manufactiring and the recent economic crises and bankrupcy of Detroit are all ripe for the picking for a great GTA game.

These places are also suffering high crime rates and all the dystopian urban decay GTA is (or should be) defined by. I'm sure most here have seen those shocking videos of the sorry state of Detroit now.

I doubt it will be based in a non-US location. I remember that one of the Houser brothers said in an interview before the release of GTA IV that they will set it in a US city because that is the culture they know most about, and can parody the best.

I really hope they wont go back to any old locations, as they're really getting exhausted, and I'm frankly bored of the same recycled places in HD.

I'm well concerned about what Houser said, thats why i added "if this were to happen" in the end, implying it means, that i know it won't likely happen :| ...and besides its not the topic to discuss whats likely to come, if you were careful you'd realize its to determine what other people WOULD LIKE to see future GTA game to be set in (and that doesn't even need to be GTAVI to be honest...), can you feel the difference between these two things, eh?...

I'd love Las Venturas! I'd also love to see another city but Vegas could be amazing on next-gen with casinos, nightclubs and all the lights. Not to mention missions in military bases and Area 51 and stuff.

San Fierro seems a bit boring to me it it's only SF. I did like some of the architecture in the poorer areas in SA though so it would be nice if with LV or something... Last thing I want is a whole new universe

We have been in Los Santos and Liberty City twice, but only once in Vice City, so i think it would make sense if the next one was in Vice City.

Las Venturas would be fun though.

Yeah, I can see the difference, not sure how clear it was made by your post, but now I completely understand what you mean.

What one of the Houser brothers said there concerned me at first, just like you. However, now I can see the reasoning and logic behind it.

What is fantastic about GTA is just how deep it is anchored in contemporary culture, and how accurately and ruthlessly is parodies it. For this to happen effectively - anything from the conspiracy theory themes, to

Spoiler
in GTA V - you need the developers to have an intimate knowledge and connection to the culture.

R* games is based in the US, so this is the only real culture they can parody that well.

Also contemporary American culture is global pop-culture, and the trend setter for the rest of the world, since the US is the world'sonly super-power and has a massive cultural impact on the rest of the world. So most people in the World know about American culture, so a gamer anywhere will be able to have a nice laugh when GTA makes fun of celebrity beaver-shots and overly expensive, useless therapy they go to. But if R* starts making fun of the hypocrisy of the Iraqi Shia Marja'iyya's glorification of pre-Islamic Persian culture, how many glamers outside of Iraq would understand that, let alone find it funny?

So, basically, I completely agree with Houser saying GTA should only be based in the US.

I also forgot to write inmy previous post that the gloomy, dark and seedy setting of Carcer City(Detroit/Chicago/Rust-Belt Cities) would really fit R*'s style of starting each new generation of console games with a dark and gloomy setting - like the PS2 generation and the current generation where both started with the dark and gloomy Liberty City.

Take care mate.

Hey, this thread is almost like mine, oh wait, because it is. You really needed to create your own? That's fine, I guess, because yours is so different right?

Vice City! Not a cramped dump like the old one but a big map! and definitely 80's, watched a doco "cocain cowboys" that sort of setting would be epic

Actually, this thread was started four days ago. Yours was started two days ago.

So it seems that you were the one who created a useless duplicate thread. Oddly though, yours is far more popular.
