this

no wonder you guys get bored quick of the game if you play it 10 hours straight everyday...

anyone else like me and dip in and out of the story?

I find myself playing along with the storey, then getting distracted by stealing a boat someone is having a glass of wine in at a lakeside, then finding a river and seeing where it takes me (to the sea actually).

Then sailed past the airport and thought 'i know i'll nick a plane'. That didnt work too well so i stop by a strip club on my way back. 2 hours later i remember i was meant to be doing the story!

The game is full of random stuff that distracts you (in a good way). Im only 19% complete on my first run through and ive been playing  most evenings since launch day

exactly there's so much stuff that keeps your atention of the main storyline, I see people who already did the storyline and I'm not even halfway through the storyline (and I have the game since release date)

- moto cross races
- hidden underwater goodies and locations

- hunting
- tennis
- golf
- darts
- street races
- bounty hunting
- assassination missions
- propertys to buy, each with there own unique missions.
- massive character customisation
- massive vehicle customisation
- hanging out with other characters and getting more dialogue from them
- shooting range chllenges
- movies
- television
- yoga
- altruist cult missions
- tonnes of internet satire to read
- strangers and freaks missions
- plane trial missions
- robbing stores
- replaying missions for gold medals
- triathlons
- strip clubs
- flight school
did i miss anything? heaps of stuff to do, close to the level of san andreas.

I think it's disingenuous to say it's close to the level of San Andreas. You made a lengthy bullet point no doubt but I don't really think that makes your point. A lot of the things you listed aren't real meaty content. You listed strip clubs. Yeah... mash a button and throw dollars. That doesn't quite equal something akin to ambulance missions. It's questionable how much value comes from movies, tv and internet satire.

I think you padded the list to make it seem bigger. Races can just be races. It doesn't matter the vehicle it's still 'a' to 'b' racing with check points.

When I hopped in the game I was wondering about activities. Especially alternative ways to make money off the bat. Previously you had firefighter, ice cream truck, police, ambulance, valet, pimp, etc. These options are missing. The tow truck is available for purchase but you don't have that kind of money until later in the game.

I think you are right in saying there are a variety of things to do in GTA V but I don't think we hit the San Andreas level.

I am entertaining the fact that it's more fleshed out with some DLC. Perhaps the focus is solely online? Hard to say at this point

look, i was merely saying that there is plenty to see and do in what he calls an "empty" sandbox. i actually missed a few things on the list.

"I feel empty and wished i took my time instead of rushing though the game..."

OP identified his own problem?

Personally, I think there is plenty to do, even just making it up as you go.

Dune buggy in the desert?  Fun.

Parachuting into the military base to steal various jets/helos/etc?  Fun.

Robbing stores and using a helicopter as my getaway vehicle?  Again, fun.

Driving around looking for stunt jumps?  Very fun.

No scripted events, characters, etc. needed.

OP you don't know what gta stands for. There are some activities, play tennis, play golf, go with trevor, frank or micheal somewhere, go to strip club, make stunts, play races, marathon, kill random people, use cheats, kill cops.

What you do expect from a gta game? There are no infinite missions.

I played today 3 hours with missions finished.

That

Ok so i've completed the game and all the missions, though they where fun they only last a while, when i completed the game i expected some sort of missions to open up or gang hideouts to dot the map, but nothing.. i'm basically wandering around in a sandbox world with nothing to do, sure I can shoot some cops but thats just boring, I can buy propertys for more money to buy more useless cars, theres no end game, its just an open sandbox game, there should of been so many things to do after you have completed the game, like taking over gang turf from the ballas, hiring guards and gang members, doing hits, playing as a cop, expanding my empire or crew, doing more heists, none of it is there. I feel empty and wished i took my time instead of rushing though the game..

I mean Franklin should have gang wars at least, it would give me something to do, hes in a gang basically and you only fight ballas twice in the whole game and they own alot of turf.. it would of been great to have a proper gang war system in the game where u take over territorys and turf is constanly shifting in a stuggle for control between rival gangs

Trevor has his own buisiness but he has no members to back him up, theres no gang of your own that you can start up and that would of been cool..

Theres basically nothing to do once you have finished with the game exept mini games..

People like you just play the story and don't experience the world.

23h with Franklin, 23H with Trevor, 18H with Michael, still haven't beaten the game because I'm doing everything else that can be done.

I don't see why people just finish the game on 60-70% and don't finish the extra 30%-40% worth of activities and easter eggs, you're basically not even done with the game.

Close to the level of San Andreas?
Sea Races - They are ok but very easy

moto cross races - They are ok but very easy

Hidden underwater stuff - Underwater is boring

collectible things - Ok another chore

Hunting - Seems ok but RDR was way better

Street Races - Oh wow more races -_- also very easy

Bounty Hunting - Fun

Assassin missions - Fun

Property to buy - Need more money then what the game gives you

Character customization - Could of been better

Vehicle customization - Could of been better

Friend activities - Oh boy not this sh*t again

Shooting Range - Fun with new controls but very easy

Darts - Had enough of that sh*t in IV

Golf - Fun for a while but gets boring FAST

Tennis - Fun for a while but gets boring FAST

Movies - This is a video game, I want to play not WATCH

TV - This is a video game, I want to play not WATCH

Cult Missions - Ok

Internet - This is a video game, I want to play not READ

Strangers and freaks missions - They are fun

Plane trail mission (  stunt Plane CE and SE ) - They are ok

Replaying missions to get gold - Isn't my thing

Yoga - This is a video game not yoga class

triathlons - They are fun but not many of them

robbing stores - No point when you beat the game.

Strip clubs - Again this is a video game not porn

flight school - ok to learn how to fly

Not even half the sh*t is fun that you made in the post. GTA SA still is king of GTA with content in their game.

Why can't we go in the casino? That's like the Roller coaster of IV. Everyone wanted to ride it but it was only there for show. I hope there's a DLC that adds the casino as a enter able place.

I have to say Im only 30% into the game and already bored. The missions arent entertaining at all, dont understand what the big deal is with the heists, nothing special imo. Just the same old GTA missions with character switching and choose A, B, or C. Big Deal. There's a lack of any real content, like actually robbing banks and other businesses around Los Santos. If the game is focused on heists and not Gang Turf like SA, why arent there any banks, more than a few liquor stores, fastfood joints, malls, etc that you can  hire a few Robbers and plan a heist on those establishments? Where's the content that hasnt been in GTA since GTA III? Yeah races and customizations are great and all, but wheres the NEW content to the game? No where to be found. Same old, same old. And I dont care about GTA Online, that was the biggest mistake R* made was focusing on that aspect. Full of loudmouthed, racist brats. GTAIV online was a nightmare and utter disaster. I'm praying R* releases some meaty DLC content for tons more heists that you can do more in depth planning for with far more establishments, that would be game changer. Nothing else in this game is, aside from character switching.

So it's Rockstar's fault that you built this game up into something more and got let down?

We’ll it was your own dumbass fault for rushing through the game. I won’t be done with offline for at least another month (play the game 2 to 3 hours a week during the work week) so I can’t compare myself to you because you suck

Lmfao im laughing so hard at this post. I played the game for 6 hours straight the other day without even doing a single mission or any other activity other than customizing cars and exploring and cop chases.

It's true man. You run out of sh*t to do much too quickly. Rockstar stayed focused on the storyline this time...

Only read these 2 posts, others were tl;dr.

You must have ADD then.

After 5 years, I can still play GTA IV and still have fun in it. Why? Because I just do random stuff, make up stories for myself as I go along. And once I'm done with GTA V's story missions, I can make better adventures for myself because now I have a more diverse area to explore and there's more vehicles/weapons to use. It's not fun if you just rush through things and play the game for the sake of finishing it. You have to take your time, enjoy the little details and what-not. It's not hard to enjoy a game for months upon months if you use your imagination, and that's not something hard to do in a GTA game.

It is annoying that there are no police vigilante missions. I played them on IV right up to the very day V was released, so 5 years and I was still having fun.

The one thing that you can do over and over and it's different and they didn't include it.

OP makes a bold statement saying "the sandbox is 'empty' and there's nothing to do". therein lies the motive behind my post.

what you're saying is subjective and irrelevant to my point. i wasn't out to compare games qualitatively, nor was i belittling your precious san andreas.

f*ck off.

That's like a metaphor for the whole game. Everyone wants to ride it, but it's only there for show. IMO you can't really do sh*t in this game. The character never really has any control.

I have more fun taking on cops in this game than any of the previous ones. It's the heists that bore me, far too linear and far too few of them. I get that they wanted to hold the free roam jobs for multiplayer but I want to do stuff at my own pace sometimes and I guarantee people online will just run and gun.
As for the main heists, they were too linear to be interesting. I get that they can't possibly script 20 different ways but if they'd given us a little more roaming to do, maybe had us actually control the environment rather than just point gun at group x for 5 seconds and move onto the next activity then we could have generated hundreds of our own possibilities. As it is, it's boring.

I agree with the fact that their is a lot to do in this game and the graphics are just so beautiful! But i have to admit, they could have done some things that could make this game even better. Small things like more haircuts and such. I mean there are a lot of clothing shops spread around the map, but their all the same. And their is only one strip club that you can enter, seriously? Despite all these things that they have left out for some reason i still think that rockstar did a very good job!

I was just thinking about the casino/roller coaster comparison yesterday.

I agree with your post as well. The best side activities besides racing and sports are the Assassin, strangers, and bounty missions. But there are only a few of them. Also, the arms trafficking is good too.

This game needed more stuff like that, especially with how great the shooting mechanics are.

Have you done all the side mission like freak and stranger?  Have you done all the racing including offroad trucks, atv, and triathlon.  Have you done parachuting?  Have you found all pieces to the UFO and underwater secret and discovery?  Have you stole a tank and put in into a large plane and drop it in midair while your still in the tank?  Have you done all the rampage mission, all the random encounter, all the taxi vigilantes mission? Have you stolen a dune buggy and drive off road (it fun)?  Have you done some of the hunting?  Have you kidnap people and give it to the cultist above the mountain?  Have you found a dinghy and use the scuba diving suit to explore the ocean?  Have you done a gang shootout at the grove?

Races are boring sh*t, finding UFO pieces is a chore and really makes you want to quit, taxi vigilantes are nothing to keep playing for.
