I don't understand why you people entertain these threads about people bitching and crying about the game that's all they want and with every response they win. Let them go cry in a corner by themselves. They are just looking for attention and you all are giving it to them.

Meh, I disagree. I mean granted I do see some people complaining about silly stuff (the car mechanics are way better than they were in GTA IV) but let's be honest here, the game is not perfect, it has problems, and those problems need to be addressed in hopes of them being fixed or not appearing in the next game.

I was pretty upset that I could not do all-out chaos post-story and that bummed me out because that's what I always loved about the past GTA games, after the game is over you go cause mayhem while the cops chase after you and in GTA V it's impossible to do for more than 2 minutes. And as mentioned, without a health cheat or car repair cheat you can't keep the mayhem going for hours on end.

I really hate how effing easy your character dies here. I mean 3 shots from the cops and you're dead. 5 if you're wearing armour (which, for the price, is a cheat). Cars knock you down for what feels like 10 seconds while your enemy shoots you. Almost every crash jams one of your front tires and your car can only move 3 mph. They include the military base but don't set a mission there???? I also think I flew past a prison and no mission there????

Someone in another thread snidely remarked "then why don't you go play that kiddie game Saints Row?" Make fun of that game all you want but at least it's fun as hell. GTA V has the looks but Saints Row has the spirit. I mean would you rather go parachuting/golfing/do yoga etc or shoot an alien in the face with a rocket launcher in the shape of a guitar case? I mean really, which one sounds more fun?

Still, GTA V is still a good game (despite the long boring driving missions I've always hated about the past games). I'm really hoping Online is all it's said to be but just because some of us have issues with the game doesn't make us jerks, it just means we had higher expectations than others.

Mr Levrone

There is much more to see after the Campaign is done.

-Players can invest in their character through customizing their appearance,
improving their stats, owning customized vehicles, purchasing personal property,
choosing their favourite weapons and vehicles and taking part in missions, jobs and activities.

-Players have the freedom to explore alone or with friends, work cooperatively to
complete missions, band together to participate in activities and ambient events, or
compete in traditional game modes.

-As progress is achieved through the world of GTA Online, players will be introduced
to new characters, missions, rewards and such.

-A maximum of 16 players can be active at any one time as part of an online universe
of hundreds of thousands competing to earn Reputation Points (RP), money and almost
limitless material acquisition.

-As you speak into your headset, your GTA Online character will lip-sync broadly in time.
When robbing a store, AI characters will react to the urgency in your voice, stuffing money
more quickly in the bag.

-The Content Creator will allow players to create and share their own missions and activities via
the Social Club cloud. Other players can beat your target times and scores, then rate your mission.
You can even choose which creators you want to follow and curate your favourite missions.

-The Feed, a twitter-like program, appears on screen to relay all your emails, texts and messages
from Social Club.

-Rockstar has no plans to sell Grand Theft Auto Online separately, and it doesn't require a code,
online pass, or anything like that.

-The world of Grand Theft Auto Online will constantly grow and change as new content is added,
and at some stage GTA Online will head into new locations. Access to Grand Theft Auto Online is free
with every retail copy of Grand Theft Auto V and launches on October 1st.

GTA_V_Online_4.jpg

-Your ranking will be based off of shooting, driving, parachuting and flying skills.

-People can access their data through Social Club and via their iPhones or iPads.

-There is a mode called "passive mode" which means you can't shoot people and
they can't shoot you.

-A "Bad Sport" stat will be given for bad behaviour such as blowing up another
player's car, and if it's done persistently you will be punished.

-If your multiplayer character at Max Payne 3 had a high level, it will be carried
over to GTA: Online for more bonuses that you will unlock.

-Matchmaking is based off of ranking, so it prioritizes your friends' rankings,
crewmembers' rankings and even strangers so that when you need people,
you know who to get.

-GTA Online tracks who your rivals are and lets you know when they've come
online so you can get some revenge on them.

-The camera will zoom out and pan away to your online character seamlessly.
During the animation, a matchmaking process will be in progress.

-You can do almost anything you can do in single player in GTA Online.

-You can change weather, time of day, time you want it to rain or to be a certain
weather state, radio station to be tuned at the start of the race or mission in the Content Creator.

-You can watch races and deathmatches on your apartment TV.

-There are masks to hide from the cops.

-The Online will be run on the Social Club servers, data will be stored on the cloud.
There are data centers from NY to San Diego, and more Rockstar studios.

GTA-Online-customize.png

-You can assemble a team from your friends list, or recruit according to specialist skills.
As you rob a liquor store or perform a heist, the team member that does the job gets
the cash and can choose how much to share.

-It's possible to spread the wealth by sharing cash, weapons and ammo among your team.
In turn, they can 'defect' and try to steal your cash.

-You can pick up your phone to 'ring' friends in single player and invite them into your
world. Your friends will be listed under 'Contacts' on your phone.

-Set up challenges and post it to the Social Club and players can try and beat your
score, if they beat your score -- you give them cash.

-For certain heists you might need certain weapons, vehicles or characters such as a sniper
or a driver. This will also depend on the mission creator if you download the mission
from the Social Club.

-Some missions are so complex they need plenty of good communication.

-There will be descriptions to help each character on its heist function.

-There is something called "team lives". If you have 4 team lives and 4 people,
if everyone dies there will be 0 lives left, or if you die 4 times, the team will have
0 lives left, which means if anyone dies, it's mission failed.

GTAV-c.jpg

-You start GTA: Online arriving to Los Santos penniless and you must complete a
few missions first to get a feel of the online.

-There will be loads of property to buy at different prices, according to their views
and location. You can use your in-house CCTV to spy on people at your front door, or
take showers, surf the net, change clothes and watch the game's many TV channels.

-You can take out insurance and ring for a replacement car if yours gets destroyed.

-You can pay a personal mechanic to fix your cars automatically, or deliver them to
any location.

-You can also check any vehicle's stats for speed, handling etc, before making your
choice to purchase.

-You can watch real-time events such as police chases on your TV moments after you
see them speed past your house.

-Your custom cars show as markers on the map and get impounded if you leave them
too long. You can pay to retrieve them.

-You will be able to deposit your money into your bank account as often as you can.
When another player kills you, they can snatch the wallet right from your dead body.

-You can switch between single player and online mode by selecting your multiplayer
avatar from the character wheel.

-Passengers will be able to change the in-car radio, via a radio selection wheel similar
to the weapons wheel.

-You will have contacts available at anytime that will provide different services on or
off mission, as you rank higher you will have access to characters with new and
stronger abilities. Examples of such are being hidden from the radar and setting a
bounty on another player if you're being chased.

-If you steal a vehicle, you can spray and change the plates. Some vehicle customisation
businesses might not be willing to do that and you may get a wanted level.

-Weasel News will pick up people that have got wanted levels.

-There is a planning room in people's apartments.

-If you are in a heist and need some help, you can invite your friends and
they will be teleported to you instantly.

-The experience is seamless between transitions for free-roam and missions.

-You can call up a private security firm to bring in an airstrike, i.e. destroy street races.

gta2.png

-Each mission requires a rank depending on difficulty and complexity. The bigger your
rank, the more difficult the missions will be.

-There are around 700 missions in GTA Online. 500 will be available to play on release,
as more will be added eventually.

-Missions will be ordered randomly as you play Online.

That was possibly the greatest burn I've ever seen put forward to a Troll.

My hat comes off to you, good sir. Well played indeed.

thats odd, my cars rarely ever got much damage at all, much less crippling damage that made me have to find a new car till i started driving super cars towards the end.  I only ever destroyed 3 cars from crashing into stuff besides the super cars which actually got damaged easily and two of those were from jumping over a hill and landing on the side and instantly exploding.  I had many head on collisions with the first cars in the game that didnt even break the headlights. Its unbelievable how much abuse those things can take.  I wouldnt exactly call the driving better unless you are one of those people who doesnt want to learn how to drive to play a game based on cars, lol! but it is indeed easier for the people who never figured out how to drive in gta4, which was harder than it shouldve been and I certainly dont want to see the exact same car behavior in this game, but this one is way to easy.  I was expecting an improvement on 4, but still some semi realistic driving characteristics and for different cars to handle differently.  Dont get me wrong it was fun and the missions were cool but I was expecting more.  When you can drive super cars up the sides of mountains thats kinda silly.  Frankly this game has less content and not much to do after the story is over.  It kinda feels like they rushed it out unfinished because its missing so much that previous games had.  I hope they add to it but without changing the cop ai I guess there really isnt much reason to free roam unless you just like walking around and driving around and changing your clothes and hair and beard, in which case you might as well go play the sims.

The worst part is that you cant free roam and firefight the cops and cause general mayhem for hours like you could in previous games, they kill you near instantly here.  I easily spent more time doing that than it took to do the story line in previous games, lol!  Its not much fun to drive around and crash cars when they dont take very much damage and they all stick to the road like glue.  I loved sliding around and smashing them in different ways in gta 4, you could mangle them pretty good.  there are no food stands or restaurants at which to recharge your health when you are free roaming, but i guess theres really not much need since if you try and shoot the cops they kill you instantly and if you are in a car you are almost indestructible.   Hopefully the online part is good because single player offers very little fun stuff to do after the story is over.  I hope they add more missions and stuff to the single player portion also.  Maybe tweak the cop ai so you can cause the mayhem that everyone is used to that made the game so great in the first place.  Sure these cop AIs are really easy to get away from but you gotta bounce quick because their shooting is far too accurate and deadly and you dont have time to really do anything because they instantly spawn fairly close and always in front of you and have unlimited speed and start shooting and ramming you on one star so leading them on long chases like previous games doesnt really work that well.

If you guys cant understand that concept then Im not sure what to tell you, maybe youve had to have been around since the first game and followed the development of each game throughout the entire series to understand what us seasoned vets are talking about, or maybe you are just to young to understand and think its just a game, who cares, give me cheat codes attitude, but that was easily the best part of the game and is what made it so popular in the first place. It gave hours of enjoyment for months after the story was done.  What are you gonna do in this one? Drive around in your indestructible cars and shoot a couple people before you have to outrun the crazy fast cops? play golf, tennis and do yoga? LAME, lol!  In its current state it has lost many of the things that made it great and so popular up till this point, that is why they grossed 800 million the first day or whatever it is because of all the hardcore fans who were expecting something awesome since they have been working on it for so long and delayed it.

im also not sure why they chose to partner with apple and release the apple app first when Android dominates apple in the worldwide market with 70% and apple is only at 20%.  Apple was pretty cool and innovative when it first came out but it has sucked and changed very little since about the iphone 3 or 4 when it was surpassed by the much superior Android system which continues to improve way faster than apple.

Im interested to see how online works.  It might redeem some of the failings of single player but if they expect you to grind dumb boring stuff over and over for days to get enough money to buy things in game or expect you to pay real money for game money all the time there is very little chance ill play it much.  And from the looks of prices of things in single player its gonna be expensive for everything.  Basically what they have done is taken a great game and a great series that lots of older mature gamers love and dumbed it down and changed crucial elements that is what made the game great in the first place and lessened its single player after game potential severely to make it more attractive for 12 year olds to play online and get their parents to pay for it.

Either the online portion is going to be awesome or this is the death of the series unless they fix their blunders. Time will tell.

no matter what you do someone will complain.  little kids complain its too hard and seasoned experienced gamers complain its too easy, you cant please everyone all the time!  I do agree though, this forum does seem to have a large number of less than brilliant people.  Pretty sure its because they mostly very young and clueless.  there are 47 different thread with the same titles, they arent smart enough to post in one of the 3 that are already on the first page, they make a new one and everyone says everything all over again, lol! its quite ridiculous.

Maybe because the same people are saying the game is perfect and anyone who has any legitimate criticism is either stupid, sucks at the game or is a little kid. If you dont like the criticism GTFO of the thread, seriously. There are people here genuinely giving pointers on how they think the game could be improved. Some are plain trolling as well, but dont generalize because I can tell you I'm not a little kid nor am I an idiot.

I personally don't care for a massive map. I would much rather see the effort go into a smaller MUCH more detailed area. This series is going down the "quantity over quality" route IMHO because all people want is bigger. Who knows what the next game will bring.

The way I look at it is did I get my money's worth?

Currently I've played around 60 hours, at times I have laughed my head off, at others I have been frustrated (with cocking up a mission). I have no doubt I wil play through from scratch at least one more time.

Rockstar have said the GTA-O will also have new content for the anti-social types like me.

So for the amount of money easily spent on a couple of hours on the town, I've had 60 hours fun gameplay. Seems like good value to me

Yeah I really feel like Rockstar is leaving us no choice but to make this a primarily online game. If it wasn't for all of the online features listed above (which sound awesome) I would say this game was a huge let down. But I think if they pull the online off it could be awesome.

With that said, GTA has primarily been a single player game and they seem to be shifting in a different direction.

The video game industry as a whole is shifting towards multiplayer. Has been since COD4 (my favourite cod game and only favourite). With cloud based gaming looming in the next few months the majority of 'single player games' will always be online, adapting, extending and ultimately making games last longer.
Titanfall for example.

there probably wont be a next game, and if there is it will suck even worse than this one.  The core elements that made this game so popular in the first place are gone from this version. its too bad.

I was disappointed with the heists but after playing the entire campaign, I realized that it's just a launching point for online by introducing the idea of heists. When you play online and do heists/missions, you'll be able to have more freedom and choice when you play with your friends. You'll be able to decide who does what and who gets what (money).

I thought this campaign was immensely better than GTA IV, but I think the hype got us all a little bit with the heists. They didn't lie per se, but it was a bit misleading. As DocPip said above, games in general are shifting to becoming online oriented, and I don't really think that's a bad thing.

yea, but the main draw is the fact that its an open world and you can do whatever you want.  Most people beat the story in a few days and then spend months just messing around exploring and killing people.  Well in 5 the cops are too damn good and if you try to fight it out with them like everyone did in 4 you wont last very long.  They are very easy to escape from but impossible to go head to head in a firefight with

Sell the goddamn game then. Also, take your money back and shove it up your undeserving asshole.

I swear, it seems like everybody here is disappointed or "hates" the game because of some stupid reason. The people that matter don't think like that, though.

100% agree. I'm sick of these absolute losers whining on here that they're upset with the game. Who f*cking cares? Nobody does.

I come on here to share funny/awesome experiences I've had on the game with others, but keep seeing threads like "OMG THIS IS THE WORST GAME IN HISTORY, THE MAP IS MINISCULE". They're just ridiculous, ignorant claims from idiots.

Well I tend to drive high-end cars more because they're fast and nible but I have driven some of the bigger cars (ie hijacked them because they were there) and the same thing always happens if I crash the front end more than 3 times one of my front wheels will get jamed in the wheel well and then I can't steer.

This is extremely annoying when running from cops.

yea after playing longer and getting to the super cars I have noticed they drive a lot better, actually taking damage and sliding around.  the beginning cars totally suck though, lol!

And yet, it still has more features than GTA IV, Vice City Storys, Liberty City Stories, San Andreas, Vice City and III. In a living breathing massive world jam packed with detail with IMO fantastic graphics, likeable characters and a fun customization system. we're also yet to see how great GTA online will be..

I like how people are excusing the game being disappointing by saying what the online portion will consist of.  f*ck off with that sh*t.  If I wanted to play with a bunch of assholes, I'd go play some stupid sh*t like COD or Halo or whatever.  If it's not in the SP version, you've failed in developing your game.  I don't play GTA to play with other people and it's bullsh*t that they basically force you to if you want to get any sort of longevity out of this f*cking thing.

Actually it has far less features than previous games.  Many things people were expecting are no longer a part of the game.  I do like the graphics though, and the characters and story missions were pretty good.  I always got a chuckle switching to trevor because he was always up to something.

I agree, the best part of previous games was its ability to play it and continue having fun long after completing the story missions.  There is very little playability factor in this game after the story is over, lots of things missing or broken.  the more i hear about the online version the lamer it sounds but Ill still give it a whirl and see how it is.  I prefer PC games online, they are so much better.

Lol, yea, I never really used them in previous games except to get some pedestrian blood off my car a couple times but I was driving a car on a lot of dirt roads in this game and i noticed it kept getting dirtier and dirtier. Thought that was pretty cool, my black car turned tan.  Thats some attention to detail. I wish they had attended to other details a little more and not left so much stuff out of this game.

Old thread I know but Im putting my two cents in because I can :colgate:

I love GTA 5. But I gotta say, I was  disappointed with the campaign. GTA used to always have a good long storyline and it was pretty dull this time around. It kind of pissed me off that you really didn't earn money until towards the end and kind of made the feeling of buying things... useless. Constantly running around busting ass in missions with no reward ticked me as well ESPECIALLY with the whole Trevor "heist" thing too, going out and getting this and that to find out "it needed to be taken back." It felt like a bunch of dead ends.

I mean GTA was pretty much all about heists but at the same time, you spent more time doing other things than heists which is okay. But the way R* made it sound, was as if thats what you were mainly going to be doing and making money through out the game. About the whole heist crew members thing, there were more people you could get by doing "random event" missions, but I never found that out until towards the end of the game which was no help really.

There was soooo much hype around this game so everyone had their hopes up and took a lot out of context when R* would release info. I think the GTA community made the heist thing a bigger deal than R* did. Like with GTAO, we can't even do heists yet and that was one of the main things. Theres a lot of bugs, issues, flaws or whatever you want to call them, in this game. But overall it is a good game though there are just somethings that could of been taken out, put in etc. to make it even better. Theres a lot more things that irked me in the game but I won't go into all of them.

The game really isn't a disappointment though, like I said it was just way over hyped and everybody got their hopes up thinking it was just gonna be perfect. But like everything else and every game in this world, its not perfect.
