Michael's family are easily the worst stereotypes in the game and just terrible people as a whole. But he deserves them. Like, okay, jimmy smokes pot and plays video games. How is that worse than watching movies while sprawled drunk on the couch or sitting poolside and listening to music?

Ooh, amanda is a shallow bitch that likes spending money on clothes? Yeah, says the guy who gets dollar sign rims on his car automatically in the story at some point.

Tracy is too obsessed with fame? Says the guy who wants desperately to make movies, so much so that he'll chase some guy's rich assistant onto an active airport runway just so he can save some movie with his name on it.

Yeah, his family are all the worst kind of people. But he deserves them.

Trevor's a cannibal and Franklin's a generic gangster and yet I found those two way more likable than Mr. "Oh I hate my family but I love them and that's why I save them but I also put them in danger and they totally suck but I am the most perfect snowflake of a human being on the planet.".

So... Jimmy thinks his mother is a real piece of work eh?

Jimmy added those dreadful rims while he was in possession of Micheal's car. At some very random point in the game.
that makes sense, i always thought i must have done that to the car and forgot about it!

I don't understand where Amanda get's off on the "cheating BS", Michael hasn't cheated in any canon cutscene but Amanda has with two other dudes in the campaign, TWO... in a campaign within a time span of 1-3 months.

I'm just replaying the single player and if you start the mission where Trevor turns up at their house for the first time as Michael then during the argument between him and Amanda she mentions that she was faithful till she found Michael cheating with someone (I think it was a stripper or hooker he was caught cheating with).

I am currently in my third playthrough and this is right after my second (The first was sort of split as I took months off from playing it and finishing it after those few months).

Anyway, I know how the story goes, but I will admit that I had Michael cheat with the strippers before the familly moves out, but in my opinion, I think it would make more sense in this playthrough when I play as him to sleep with them after they move out because Amanda was cheating with that tennis coach and that yoga instructor (Man, Fabien REALLY annoyed me). After the reunion of the De Santa family, she started coming around a little more.

In regards to the other members of the family, I kind of wonder what their deal is. I know Michael is not the greatest father out there, but at least he cares about his kids and does show that he cares about his wife. Michael wouldn't go so far to save Tracey from some porno guys on a yacht if he didn't care. I also wouldn't blame him for attacking Lazlow like he did, both times in fact. Hell, if you choose option B, you can see how proud he is when Amanda breaks the news that Tracey decides to go to college. As for Jimmy, well the guy is a lazy bum who does nothing but play video games all day. I don't even think he tried applying for those jobs like he said he would.

Mike is the best character by far. Trevor is a waste of space and Franklin is so personality-less.

I feel bad for jimmy because his a smart young man but realizes the games rigged against him so he doesn't play it. I can't blame him for that. With that said though you do see him exercising so his atleast trying to improve him self in a positive way.

Amanda and tracy are terrible though their aware so their f*ck up's but continue to f*ck up anyway.

The reason I think jimmies different is due to the fact his not allowing himself to be used by other people and embarrassing himself in the process.

For everything that's wrong with Michael's family, is reflected in Michael tenfold.

"wahhhh Amanda cheated on TWO guys in the game!" Michael ran a prostitution ring for the better part of his life, even Amanda worked for him. He also cheated with strippers and hookers.

"Jimmys a fat f*ck who smokes and plays COD all day! what an a**hole!" Michael drinks himself to death with whiskey and stays at home watching old movies all day. And he has the nerve calling Trevor a hipster....

"Tracey just wants fame and she'll blow anyone!!!11!!" Michael desperately wants to make a movie with Solomon Richards, to the point where he'll kill several people in his way just to keep his name on the reel. "Associate Producer" doesn't even carry any importance to it.

Add to the fact that he smuggled drugs and guns across the border, robbed banks, KILLS indiscriminately, and tells his doctor that he actually likes it. For all of you complaining about his family, oh just grow up and look at the patriarch himself for a second. Who cares if he wants to "do good" by his family? They have every right and reason to feel bad and treat him like dog sh**.

would i be right in saying that the op isnt a parent?

ive just very recently lost my mom to cancer and my dad the day after my birthday a couple of years ago, and i can honestly say i bet most, if not all of us at one point have been ungreatful to our parents, but you know, they will still love you anyway because its unconditional, i have a 3 yr old son who when tantrums will kick and punch me but that doesnt mean he needs a bullet in the head

yes this is just a game, but rockstar have tried to make the storyline as realistic as possible for your enjoyment, and trust me, nagging wives and selfish kids is part of the norm :-)

michael is my favourite character because i can relate to him, not to every little detail, but to some

They were actually obnoxious to the point where I prefered Jimmy as an antagonist over Steve Haines.
