it's easy to tell when the OP doesn't have the game......bored? how? there is way too much going on and to do on the HUGE HUGE HUGE map.......

its boring because the driving is boring as hell. Its basically accelerate,brake,turn.... aka no skill required. And with driving a huge element in the game, it makes it boring. I cant stand the driving it looks like sh*t and when you hit a car it doesnt slow the car down it just feels like a plastic toy hit another plastic toy car. In GTA IV when you hit a car the feedback was good and the car actually slowed down...

The driving just feels really cheap/tacky which ruins the ENTIRE experience. I liked gta because I enjoyed driving everywhere in the game and doing missions, now all that I can do is walk everywhere.

And ofc Im not trolling what the f*ck is the point of trolling on this matter. I know everyone will get this game regardless but I want to know who else feels the same and want to know if Rockstar plan to do anything for half the people that hate it.

Ok so I got the game a few hours ago and have been playing it for 3-4 hours, and I'm extremely shocked that I've already grown bored of it. Immediately during the first mission the car handling seemed okay. But once we got into the main world and started trying different cars, I realized this was it. I tried accepting it for what it is but it doesnt make sense. How  can rockstar go from a game like GTA IV to this. Here are some things that greatly disappointed me. (One thing that might have led to more disappointment for me only is that the graphics on my tv are jagged and the edges of things are pixelated, I think its a problem with my resolution and I have to adjust via the ps3.)

-The city doesn't seem that packed, though this isn't THAT much of a problem.

-The shooting in this game doesnt feel as "crunchy"...It feels less intense & more "fluid" when shooting a pistol in this game than gta iv.

-The CAR handling is pretty bad. The only good handling are with those large suburban looking SUVs- That really feels like a tightened GTA IV handling. But the normal cars and the super cars feel wayyy too light like an arcade game. There is no sense of mass when driving those vehicles. The cars turn too sharply and unrealistically  and drifting isnt possible for more than 2-3 seconds. You go by things soooo fast in this game that the world actually feels pretty small. I have no idea what the reviews were talking about honestly. If it had gta iv physics the world wouldve felt more real and big aka hard to travel in which would have been euphorically challenging.I also noticed that the damage over time is somewhat as good as GTA IV... BUT the immediate damage isn't as good as GTA IV... like when hoods fall off it looks like how it did in san andreas rather than a realistic gta IV animation.

-Physics aren't even close to gta iv. When I was driving and going over bumps, the cars would fly like an airplane, and when landing it had an unrealistic feel and sound to it.... Everything was just so shocking in its presentation because its not that good. GTA IV was so realistic that you can expect what would happen in a crash or a jump while driving. Here it is so arcade and game-like that you have no idea what your car will do in any situation, and you have less control because it is further away from reality and  you expect different outcomes. Its hard to describe.

-The planes/helicopters have horrible arcade controls. Again, no one had a complaint about helicopters in gta iv. They were perfect. In this game however, oh boy, the camera feels so stiff and the helicopter feels so unrealistic. It doesnt have any sense of mass either but acts as if it one of those dragonfly remote control planes, it can stop at any point in middle air in a fraction of a section, and it cant push its nose down realistically like if you want to shoot something, the arcade controls only allow the nose down for a few seconds...

It would seem to me that you allowed your (most likely unrealistic) expectations of this game -- which is an incredible feat to be running on such aging hardware -- obfuscate common sense and rationale. The driving mechanics, while they could be better, serve the game well, and I would say that the physics within the game display a realism unmatched by neither GTA IV or RDR.

Perhaps you're burned out on open-world gameplay, and that's understandable. However, understand that there are many who frequent this forum who do not share your views, and even more, some who cannot think reasonably and will deride you for your honest, blunt opinions. As for myself, I respect you as your opinion is in the minority, yet you stand by it steadfastly and with unparalleled passion. I salute you, sir.

You are not alone!

1) They murdered the Blista Compact, before it was unique as it was the only car left original from the old games.

2) They didn't return a SINGLE old car from before IV. Everything the same as IV or f*cking new.

3) All cars the same... :(   I can't find different cars like in IV.

4) I found a Uranus-WRECK but no drivable Uranuses! :(

good points.

Awesome damage, not the same as in IV however...

Love the driving.

Love the graphics

Love the surroundings and different terrains.

Love the pedestrians!

98 on Metacritic
/thread

Although I can't comment on the game yet, I find it amusing you believe everything you read on Metacritic. And although it may not be true, there is a user review of 7 out of 10 from a private account saying he actually reviews for a magazine and was told he couldn't give it a score below 90 in the magazine.

Do you even know why he rated it a 7? Do some homework before you post stuff like that.

nah this dude is right. i completely agree. a minor change like the driving and damage can change the entire feel of a game. it feels fast and arcady leaving u buzzing by the world. also the nice cars off the start of the game leaves u not caring for cars at all since they are easy to get.

And how motherf*ckers complained about the driving of IV, now the same motherf*ckers complain about the driving of V, you'll get used to it, just like you did with IV. The same motherf*ckers always complain and whine. You don't like the game, fine don't play it, you want to express your opinion, fine express it, but don't say as if it's a fact, your opinion is NOT a fact, and barely matters because you take the side of minority who don't enjoy the game. so.. you're kind of wrong here going on forums, slagging GTAV off, and expecting what? There is no point unless you just want to troll on people...

Didn't complain about the driving in 4. And what I am saying.... is f*cking fact. Some is obviously opinion. As in I don't care fore it. But the details I share are f*cking facts. Fact, cars drive like they are glued to the ground. Fact, I can make most high speed turns by just letting go of the gas and holding the joystick in the direction I want to go, hardly ever have yo use a brake. Fact, larger vehicles seem much slower when it comes to top speed, they can't plough through cars like they used too. Fact, when you flip a car on its roof you can just hold the joystick right or left and it will magically flip back onto its wheels. Those all are things that happened. Those are facts.

And isn't this exactly what happened when 4 came out? And what happened? They changed they way things worked in V to this sh*t. So yeah, I am going to f*cking complain. And I hope anyone else who is displeased does too. Maybe things will change in the next installment.

Yep, and here's my list:

- Burger-shots + cluckin' bell not enterable

- Casino not enterable (No simple gambling possible)
- Not possible to shoot in enterable businesses (Ammu-nation, barbershops etc.)
- Only 1 stripclub
- No nightclubs
- Bars not enterable (And only visible on the map while doing activities with friends)
- Some trucks with/without trailer accelerate EXTREMELY fast in 1. and 2. gear considering their weight
- Buyable businesses not enterable
- Car/MC-handling + damage should be changeable (e.g. MC's are not drifting/loosing the grip while taking a 90 degree turn while driving on sand/dirt with 100 mph which WOULD cause a slide/crash IRL and that just explains most of the future driving experiences)

- Not possible to rob banks/jewelry stores etc. outside missions

- Not possible to kidnap strangers outside missions/mini-games

- Not possible to put peds into the trunk of cars and being able to live out that abducting psychopath thing

- Fewer interiors enterable than expected (IMHO)

- Not possible to leave car without turning the engine off (Was possible in IV - Happens sometimes randomly though in V)

- You're forced to close the cardoor (In IV you weren't - And who closes a door on their way out of a car getting gunned to pieces by a whole police department?)

- Sometimes getting in/out of a car happens so quick that I think the protagonist is affected by amphetamine

- Possible to "flip" your car over when it's lying on top (WTF Rockstar?!)

Other than that, it's a stunning game but it lacks the good stuff.

exact same feeling. It doesnt even feel like GTA anymore for some odd reason. I really think this is just due to the car handling though.

All you little COD kids seem to get bored quickly. If you don't like this GTA V, then GTA IS NOT FOR YOU. V is a masterpiece. Go wait for the next FPS/cod game.

Weren't you trashing the game a few days ago? I agree with you but it seems like quite a shift in opinion.

Wow, please make a thread about something positive! And when you do make a thread, it is mainly about how "suckish" the physics and handling in the game. It is like you only make a thread to criticize the game.

Because honestly making threads with constructive criticism is more useful then praising the game and spamming the forums for nothing. I'm making threads to try get the message to Rockstar, not bash the game or ruin anyones hype. Atleast half the people on here dont like it.

This guy just free roams. Didn't play the story and is talking sh*t. Go play the story and stop f*cking free roaming. God damn it.

And like the guy said, if you want skill wise games that pushes your brain to the max, go play Starcraft 2, it's the hardest game I've ever played In my life. And the game isn't fun. It's stressful after every loss you get. Because a little miss timing... A lil miss click while Micro'ing your units... GG. You lose. So...

The main thing that's weird to me right now are bikes, they are way too easy to control. Another small thing when it comes to bikes is In GTAIV when you hit a curb from a certain angle on your bike you could get some air but in V you just glide over it.

As for the cars I was expecting the handling to be closer to the super drop diamond in TBOGT which I think would have been the perfect, but what we got was something way more arcade than that. While I like the driving mechanics overall, things have definitely been dumbed down which is a shame as I was looking forward to having something similar to IV's mechanics to finally get a chance to really test them out in a diverse landscape like Los Santos.

GTA V owns everything. I think 98 is very good mark, I' d say it' s even 99, but 98 is enough for me.

It's gonna go down, meta hasn't updated gamespots 9.0 score because of a dumb feminist man.

I wasn't "trashing" the game. I had concerns about the collision damage. After seeing it, it isn't as bad as I thought, but it could be better. In the grand scheme of things, it's a very small thing to me(can't believe I'm saying that). This game is wicked cool.

Some things are locked even after finishing the game while roaming throughout the map feels empty on emotion ride. Switching characters has a lack of that bonding or remember the protagonist playing a great time as compared to CJ who had so many moments of great interactions and a solid adventure that was varied and not shallow or limited.
The good parts are the missions of V that has a quality you like replaying them.
Other stuff like mini-games, bounty, secrets, etc are just one-time attractions for me compared to past GTA experience. New random encounters are great additions whereas a lot of side stuff of GTA SA was missed a lot esp. Races, those timed missions and activities that allowed the good use of the map than just more than driving or gazing graphically rich city, mountains, deserts with little to no missions to put them for good experience.
It's like too much of the games design was fighting itself to push me into the immersion but again everything what you see in it was nothing new for me. Improving the mechanics or handing the same stuff rehashed with polished feel can't justify a bold new direction rather a very thought out and less risky approach to keep the series alive and rolling.
I expected R* was bound to show me and determined to stay with fresh upcoming innovative sandbox elements seen in upcoming games and where a new set of challenges await in the same GTA world and in the same freedom of approach and scale.
I was welcomed to the scale of the Gameworld but not the freedom.
There is still lot to say but these are things that stung the most to me and seriously for GTAO plans R* has sacrificed certain things thats a shame as Single player experience could be extended in the time frame they utilised making V.
This has not in any way brought me a huge disappointment. Nope! It stands out in presentation, Looks wonderful and gives the consoles a game of next gen standards but compared to years of anticipation and the game what we have been sold are not fully realised.

In regards to the car flip. I know it is unrealistic but it is very helpful. I remmeber plenty of times on IV when you were chasing someone and the car would flip and you'd have to restart the mission.
