Why do you think Rockstar decided to release GTA: Online on October 1st? I understand that most AAA video games are released on Tuesday so that the daily, weekly and monthly sales can be accurately recorded, but GTA: Online isn't really being sold. If they were trying to accurately record the flow of online players, wouldn't it be best to release it on a Friday or Saturday instead of mid-week? What are your thoughts?

Because that's when they thought they would finish on making it.

The developers wanted to be able to deliver the game on its due date, while at the same time not hindering their development of the online mode by rushing the project. Also, two weeks is an ideal amount of time to get every GTA V player into the proper mindset and preparations for GTAO.

Gives R* time to gauge properly how many servers they'll need, work on a patch to coincide with Online launch to sort out any issues and to make the online experience the best it can be.
I applaud R* for not rushing.

They wanted people to get used to the map before releasing online.
