Most users seem to be okay with it. I guess the whiners are a minority after all.
are you happy with the changes rockstar has made to gta's driving

I'll decide once I've played the game. It's nice to see that the majority* seems happy with it, despite what these forums might have you believe.
*correct at time of posting.

I'll remain indifferent until I play the game for myself.
Posted 15 September 2013 - 02:01 PM
I'll have to play it for myself to finalise my opinion, but from what I've seen from the hours of footage, my answer would have to be no. It reminds me too much of Saint's Row or Just Cause 2 (especially the motorbike mechanics) which is a little disappointing.
I think maybe a tweak to the breaks and a slightly more responsive handling would have been fine but some of the vehicles look like they have no weight or suspension.

should've had these options due to whining from people based on videos:
have the game and like the driving
have the game and NOT like the driving
NOT have the game and like the driving
NOT have the game and NOT like the driving
NOT have the game and reserving judgment until i get it

anything is better than IV's sh*tty driving.
You probably just thought it was 'sh*tty' because you were too damn lazy to master it.
But at least you've got your way, as V's driving looks to be a boring, skilless fail.....

You can't really judge the driving of a game by just watching someone play the game. You gotta pick up a controller and experience it yourself to make an opinion.

trust me, after playing for the last few days (since thursday) my thoughts of the driving have taken a 180 degree turn. The driving feels much more refined in V than in IV. I can't really explain it because of how much has changed and just how different it feels, but know that it is for the better. Even the AI handles the cars much better because the weights and traction for the cars are much better. No longer do we drive 8 ton cars with zero traction where everything is just a peeling out and floating around corners. Now it will actually require you to be alert, and on point while driving where IV you had so much margin for error it wasn't even funny because if you spun out you likely ended the spin out facing the right way.
IDK, I enjoyed IV's driving a lot. But after playing V, that game's driving feels like comparing Mario Kart 64 to Forza 4. Not saying GTA V has the best driving in the world, but it is definitely much better than IV.
This is all opinion by the way, so it is nothing more than my own personal opinion on the driving after I have actually played. If anyone wants some more info I can help them out. Just PM me a link with the thread and question so I can answer it there. I WILL NOT give out spoilers, or anything that will ruin the game. I have no problems with talking about the basic sh*t and things that will not ruin the game for others. But I refuse to speak about anything story related or spoiler related.
So yeah, my 2 cents, hope this helped. I saw someone post about asking if someone who has played could comment, but honestly it is so different that its really difficult to compare the two games driving. Also know that most of those driving leaks you guys saw were with Franklin who starts the game at 80/100 driving or 75/100. Driving as Michael in the exact same car is more difficult, so driving skill does play a part in handling and I believe even the damage taken in a car (not 100% on this and not sure how to test lol, or if I even want to ).
THE NOOBS LOVE the new driving mechanics.
How does this even make sense? Also you spelled Rofl wrong in your name...... Jesus Christ why am I even responding now?
Lel, the imbeciles on this forum.
EDIT: I am laughing hard as f*ck at all these people who think IV's driving took skill or the cars in V has no suspension or weight. No it took hardly any skill. The driving had a lot of margin for error. There was no point of no return on a turn where you can't correct yourself, there was no sense of extreme high speeds, the turning was terrible and the cars had the softest suspension. If any of you actually played the game you would know why some cars look like they have stiff as sh*t suspension.... But hey, your imagination couldn't possibly lead you to that there is maybe an option to change suspension at LOS SANTOS CUSTOMS? Then again these are the same people who are making judgment calls before actually even getting their hands on the game. Lol.....
Famous saying "Don't judge a book by its cover". Yeah there IS a reason that saying is famous.....

i am unhappy because they don't give the option for the classic control setup anymore. who cares about the physics if i press the wrong buttons everytime in the first place?
Posted 18 September 2013 - 06:45 PM
It's very sensitive. i screwed 2 mini arcade style joysticks into my thumbsticks (like FPS Freeks, only slightly longer) and suddenly I'm having a blast.

The driving physics are the best in the GTA series so far.
Posted 28 October 2013 - 01:16 AM
I personally think they changed the driving for the better, regardless of less realism. Imagine driving off-road with IV's physics.

The thing I do dislike however is the bike physics, I enjoyed having the ability to lean back on the seat and forward over the handlebars. Made for more fun wheelies and the ability to rip massive burnouts up avenues. I hope they bring back the bike physics from IV into the next GTA title.
Is it just me or did the smoke effects look better when doing burnouts look better in IV also?

it's up to you if it's good or not. Remember that things like Driving, shooting and fighting are up to the player. Not because 5 said that and 4 said this. Test it, talk about it. Honestly I liked it. And the car handling is different from each car.
personally im going to wait until I have the game to decide, but I don't like arcade driving so im a little worried from what people have been saying.
im curious to see the community's take on this, hopefully this poll settles things

Seeing as the last GTA game I played was Vice City, yes.

I prefer the new driving, a lot less wiping out which makes races more fun.
