The title shoould be "Estimated size of GTA V map", mods please correct it, my mistake.

If what user Screw the NOOSE posted is true, and it takes him 25 minutes to circle the entire map on a jetski, by my calculations, that would mean that the map is (if looked at as a perfect rectangle) 3,91 x 8,25 km across.

That also seems somewhat realistic given that GTA IV is reported to be 3,2 x 4,8km.

If anyone is interested in the maths behind this, PM me, although I seriously doubt anyone is.

You just put 4 maps besides each other without any math to back it up. That is completly worthless.

How does this compare to GTA:SA ?

I've seen 2 different comparisons, and for reference, SA's map size is 13.9 square miles. On one comparison, GTA V's land area is estimated to be around 18 square miles, putting San Andreas only marginally smaller than GTA V. However, I've also seen a comparison that allows 1.5 - 2 San Andreas to be fit into V's land area. I'm going to wait and see until release before judging the exact sizes and comparisons.

@ City_Poke - Look's like you beat me to it, lol.

My estimate would put it at about 12 miles, while not counting in the surrounding islands or water.

I did it by using sizes of the map of earlier GTA's and scale V map (if it have 7x13km)

SA - map square is 6km x 6km and it's filled completly, there is no space in any direction

IV - map square is too 6km x 6km, but IV map have a lot of space on south of LC (checked two years ago, when I converted SA map to IV - Project:AndReAGE/IV:SA)
VC - I loaded Vice City models lods (that with ghost tower) and fit texture to model.
III - same as VC.

How is it 'very little city' ?
Every single comparison (with solid foundation) to GTA IV comes to the conclusion that los stantos is a similar size to the entire GTA IV map.

Did I not say if it is true?
Pardon me if I did not make myself clear, but such a sentence usually means that something was taken with a pinch of salt.

This'll be the only game I play for the next 5 years, mark my words. I will still play other games, just not as much as I'll be playing GTA V, and that's a lot.
