You only see part Los Santos and rest of map is not showed.

you need to explore to get it showed on the map that way u can remember which part uve seen and which u didnt

When you explore an area it becomes unclouded.

R* planned it that way. Even though the map is open from the start, you still have to explore to "uncloud" the areas.

I both like and loathe the idea. I don't like it because I'd like to be able to plan out my route early on, but I also like it because it encourages exploration more than any other GTA game before it.

It helps you know if you have been to a certain area.  It's good for exploration, most RPGs use it.

Why so many jerks? I was actually wondering the same thing. I've heard of clouded maps like that in RPGs but have never seen it in an open world game. I think that's why it threw me off
