I've never been to a midnight release before so this will be my first one.

What time do you think I should arrive to wait in line? (providing there is one)

I was thinking like 11pm

Is that leaving it too late?

I also wondering this too, and could I get there at say 12:30 and run in to the store after most of the line is gone?

Yes. I went to gamestop last midnight release of COD black ops 2, with no preorder and they sold me it. Around 12:30.

It really depends, where you are, if there are many gamers, pre-orders in your area. I know that me and my friends will have to go like 9 p.m, it's gonna be insane here.

Well I live in South Australia, I highly doubt it will be like it is in America, plus there's two game stores quite close to each other, So that should atleast take the numbers down.

There's going to be a separate line for people who came in from 10 to 11 that paid the rest of their pre-order. So I really don't need to worry about timing but for you, I'd say go there around 10:45 if you live in a populated area.

I think it will more depend on how densely populated the area in which your local game store is.

I personally am heading out of my house at 10:30 pm.

Well I'm probably going once it hits midnight so the line will start moving. Unless they have a separate line for pre-orders. Then I'll get there right at midnight or even earlier.

At gamestop, mine is handing out numbers for spots in line as early as 6pm because so many people preordered.  Once you get a number, you can come back before midnight and what in line until its 12am, finish whatever transactions you need to do, and pick up your game.

Pft I only have to walk down the street to my game store, I paid up in full today.
I'm going at quarter to/ten to midnight so I get there just as they open.
Don't really care if there is a queue, once I'm in said queue I'll be a happy lad,
I'll just chat to my fellow gamers whilst waiting, and before I know it I'll be at the front desk

receiving the game of the year

Alot of stores in Australia close at like 5pm here, so normally the mall's security refuses to let anyone in until around 11pm anyway. In America (since i know you guys are a bit more hardcore...) all bets are off. Get there at 9am on the 16th, man! You never know, they may just atke pity on you and give you the game early!

Lucky for me, I live in a smaller city and probably won't see a huge line. But I'm going around 10pm. I'd rather get there two hour early then stand there until 1am.

I was told by my GAME store when I went in the other day to pre order that they are going to be open at like 9/9:30pm for people to sell stuff to them (what the f*ck lol) and then they'll be handing out numbers to people when they arrive. He told me to come around 11:30pm and start lining up with a number, but if they are opening the store that early then I think I'll probably just arrive at 10/10:30pm because honestly, I need to find a f*cking car space - its in the middle of town so I'm hoping not all the spaces are taken up. Quite happy just to go down, pick up a number and head back to my car to relax a little and head back down at 11:30ish.

Saying that, they are taking the full payment from people when they go up to the counter so I expect things to be a little delayed. I'm also going to get myself that hardback copy of the game guide because why not. I'm hoping to be out of the store and back on my way home by 1am at the latest depending what number I get given. The guy said there's 200+ people going to the midnight release.

What happens when you've already paid off your pre-order and already have the receipt?

Do you just take the receipt there and they give you the game?

Do you get like an express line or something?

This will be my first midnight launch, so I'm kinda excited for that. I'm gonna stop at GameStop after I get off work at 4, find out the details, then get there to get in line probably around 11:45, it's gonna be about 40 degrees here that night.

By the way, I'm new here. My name is Hunter and I like pugs, rock and metal music, and GTA V will be the best game ever besides Duke Nukem 3D.
