I am under 18, so I am going to the midnight launch with my mom at EB Gays. Like a real muthaphukkin G.

i'd be careful (someone correct me if i'm wrong) because any signs of the fact that it's for you, and that you're under 18, and i'm pretty sure they won't sell it to you. you may want to wait in a different area as your mum goes in and buys it - just to be safe.

I already know, and so does my mom. Mom is going to go and buy the game and I am just going to keep quiet in the car.

Is it that serious in Aussie land? In America a parent has the right to buy their child whatever the f*ck they want.

If the game was MA15+, then she would be able to go into the store with me and buy it. If it's rated R18+, she has to go in herself.

Are you sure you're Australian?

We don't call it "mom".

This is kind of a dumb question and it's definitely not thread worthy but I didn't preorder for whatever reason, I'm not sure why but anyway if I go to EB Tuesday morning will there be copies in the store or is it that high of a demand that it's basically preorder and wait for the next shipment?

99.8% sure you will be able to get a copy without a pre order. Never heard of eb ever running out of copies of any new release game.

EB Games midnight release in Tweed Heads South. (Tweed City Shopping Centre)
I'd say a 50 to 60% chance of getting stabbed or mugged.
Anyone else in the area? We should probably form a real life crew.

Midnight launch at JB-hi-fi, JB usually releases around 11pm sometimes, well at least its quicker than Eb Games in the same shopping centre.

I emailed my local JB earlier this week, and they didn't seem to know exactly what was going to happen, but they basically said that they weren't going to open up to the public until about 11pm, so will just have to see I guess. Planning on emailing them again on Monday.

Really hope this is the case as I have my pre-order at JB.

It shouldn't be a problem, I worked in GAME (in the UK) and the policy is literally, as long as it's the parent handing over the cash it doesn't make a difference, we had to make sure the parent was aware of what they were buying them but beyond that there is nothing that can be done about it, parents have the right to buy their children whatever they want

It's kind of strict in Australia. You can't sell anything to someone if you know they're are buying it for someone who is underage, or wouldn't be allowed to be what ever it is you're selling for whatever reason.

I'll be midnight launching it, 2 minute drive down the road, 2 minute drive back, and then I'll be screaming at my xbox to hurry up with the install.

No it isn't, all you need is a parent or something.

No, if you were 14, and tried to get your parents to buy you something rated 18+, the store would not sell it.

I've done it many times.

Than whoever is selling the stuff to you is breaking the law.

So what?

I'm pretty sure this isn't true. As long as you have a parent or guardians permission then yes, you can purchase it. I saw an 8-10 year old kid pre-order GTA V a couple of days ago anyway. I've never heard of a situation where a parent is denied purchasing a mature-rated product for someone under age, except for the other post in this thread which seems odd.

Pre-ordering is fine, actually selling the game to a child is illegal.

As I'm 16, I managed to talk Mum into giving me the day off and buying the game for me. The store I've ordered at, EB Games Runaway Bay, told me as long as I've got somebody over 18 with me, they'll sell it to me.

how packed do you rekon it will be there bro, im going to westfield at helensvale to get mine

Unfortunately, as I live remotely in the Kimberley Region, I'll be sitting here, waiting until "a few days" after release day, then braving the four hour round trip to the post office, praying that GTA V will be there waiting for me... I'll kill a mofo if it isn't.

On the extremely off-chance that EB sells out before you get there (if you're going on Tuesday morning, you'll be fine) just try another retailer that don't specialise in games. JB Hifi is always good, but I can pretty much guarantee places like K-Mart, Target and Big W won't sell out on the first day for the simple reason that they're nobody's first option when it comes to videogames.

I would also recommend trying to find a copy on Monday if you can. I would put it at 50% chance of one of the retailers breaking the street date. Considering JB Hifi released Rockstar's previous 4 "big games" (IV, RDR, LA Noire, MP3) a day early, they would be the best bet.

P.S. Up the Bunnies.

I plan on ramming a car through all the people and into the store on the midnight release, then grabbing a few copies of the collectors for my buddies and getting the hell out of there.

I'm going to helensvale for midnight release, I've never been to one before so my expectation is you, me, a eb clerk and a security guard checking his iphone with the latest on the big brother house...
seriously though, i rekon there will be a few people there

$170.

Sold out nationwide so there's little chance of getting a copy.

Big W is really good for early releases! JB HiFi usually dumps their stuff on the shelf the day before.

Good luck to anyone who is gunning for an early copy! But just remember; make sure you're not online when you put the disc in!!!

so i just went to EB Helensvale to ask about the process at midnight release, if you don't know already (i didn't) they said rock up 10pm when they open, they will get everyone to pay the remainder off the pre order balance, the when midnight ticks over everyone walk through and gets grabs their copy.

the guy also said there should be about 7,000 people there!!

seems like i previously underestimated the pull of this game

I'll be picking up my preorder from EB Games Marion at the midnight launch, it's just across the road so get there when they open to get my place in line, then hopefully I can be home by 12:15.

Also because this is a thread for Australians, if anyone's looking for a crew, check out the linkks in my sig :)
